View Full Version : AC Milan and Man Utd chasing Puyol
Milan face a battle with Manchester United in order to sign Barcelona defender Carles Puyol.
The Spanish club announced it was willing to listen to offers for all their players in order to help cut their Ł116m debt.
“Nothing is impossible,” explained President Joan Laporta, “and if the right price is met then we will of course consider it.”
25-year-old Puyol is the captain at Barcelona, but earlier this month admitted he would relish a Serie A experience.
“If Milan or Juventus were to call me then I would come running,” he had stated in a press conference.
Manchester United have the upper hand thanks to the sales of David Beckham and Juan Sebastian Veron.
The Rossoneri are currently embroiled in fraught negotiations for Sao Paolo’s Brazilian starlet Kaka, but could drop that matter and aim for Puyol if the situation is not resolved on Monday.
It’s reported that Milan would offer World Cup winning defender Roque Junior as part of their proposal to Barcelona.
precise 11-08-2003, 09:10:AM United definitely need him more than Milan do, with all our injury problems at the back.
Milan won't get the bid if they offer Roque Junior, because Barca already have to many Non EU players.
Man United is my bet.
ahh.. Chelsea not interested?
:crazyboy:
and btw, I wont want Puyol if it means no Kaká
PSVFOREVER 11-08-2003, 09:51:AM Maybe Barcelona have to sale also Ronaldinho to come out of dept?(H)

Parra Power 11-08-2003, 10:58:AM we don't need puyol. we got the #1 defensive line in the world as it is. man utd on the other hand...................... :o
Fernandez 11-08-2003, 01:33:PM barca should not have buy rona:kader:
yeah, because then MU would have gotten him
:D
but seriously, they shouldnt have, Riquelme should have already found his thunder again..
mark77 11-08-2003, 04:30:PM Cafu, Nesta , Maldini, Kaladze.
Simic, Roque Jr, Laursen, Pancaro.
Where would he play?
ZoomZoomGirl 11-08-2003, 04:32:PM :kader: OMG his so hairy
Frostwolf 11-08-2003, 04:50:PM is that all you can say about a football player?
and on puyol... you do have o'shea who can play anywhere across the back four and you've got silvestre (or was it fortune? who plays right back for man u?) but they're both turning out to be good players.. i would rather go for a creative attacking/central midfield option since you lost both veron and beckham.
atsuneedssomehe 11-08-2003, 04:54:PM man its extremly hard not to swear bk146...if u dint get the point of joke u dont have to be like gay who thinks that girl dont know nothing about footbal...dont take it personaly....:D :) :D :) :D HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY!!!
Frostwolf 11-08-2003, 04:57:PM no, i was just pointing out the lack of constructive points in that post. because if it doesnt it's technically classified as pointless spam posts.
atsuneedssomehe 11-08-2003, 05:02:PM (H) Well she has only 11 posts and she gotta post boost too u know but jumbajumba with that lets stick with the thread...:crazyboy:
Frostwolf 11-08-2003, 05:07:PM are you justifying post-boosting now?
back to the thread. man u dont need puyol (yet).
atsuneedssomehe 11-08-2003, 05:18:PM no im not justifying post-boosting...but show my one users that hasent dun that yet?
i dont think that Puyol is gonig to man utd coz barca finally got a good team(ronaldinho,rüstu, quaresma etc)and i dont think they wanna make it weaker by selling their best defender...tho it would be great if he gould come to united
Fernandez 11-08-2003, 05:27:PM many teams sell good players to pay their debts.... lll....eee....eee....ddd...ssss....remember?
veron28 11-08-2003, 06:00:PM lol, it would be good if we got Puyol. He is a very strong defender, and with the injurys to our defence would settle right in, and keep his place even when Garry Neville comes back, and hell have a spanish friend in Ricardo.
atsuneedssomehe 11-08-2003, 06:28:PM well if we gould have him i hope that hes gonna get more minutes on pitch than hes spanish friend...
veron28 11-08-2003, 06:38:PM Yeah, im pretty sure he would take over G.Nevs place at right back.
