08/11/2003. Charlton have signed Paolo Di Canio on a free transfer.
The Italian has been looking for a new club since being released by West Ham at the end of last season after the Hammers were relegated from the Premiership.
The 35-year-old former Juventus, Lazio and Celtic star has signed a one-year contract with the Addicks.
Charlton manager Alan Curbishley told the club's website: "I am delighted to have secured a player of Paolo's pedigree and quality, and I know he's going to be immensely popular with the club's fans.
"He will add a different dimension to our play and I am sure that his professionalism and presence will also help the younger players in the side."
