Rangers have turned down a bid of more than £10m from Blackburn Rovers for captain Barry Ferguson.

Blackburn boss Graeme Souness made a tentative approach to former Rangers chairman David Murray during the last week.

But Murray, who still holds the purse strings at Ibrox, told Blackburn that the Scotland international midfielder was "not for sale at any price".

BBC Sport understands that Souness did not name a specific price but had been prepared to pay more than £10m to his former club.

Not even his personal friendship with Murray from Souness' days as Rangers manager could persuade the Scottish champions to part with their major asset.

Funny how I don't see the phrase "The Glasgow Giants" in any of that story? Oh wait that's only the Scottish media that describes the old firm as that...

......and England isn't a two team league?

In the last six years Arsenal and ManU have won every EPL title, shared 11 of the 12 first and runner up places, and have won 4 FA Cups and been in 5 FA Cup finals.
That's probably the same in Scotland, or worse.

Arsenal haven't won the EPL title in the last 6 years! It's just about always Man U who win it in the end! (Arsenal/Liverpool usually lead halfway until something goes wrong  )

Every team has its day in the EPL, sometimes you get Middlesbrough beating Man Utd and Bolton do it all the time! :mrpimp:

The EPL this year should be pretty open, with Man Utd, Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and Newcastle all title contenders. Not like in the SPL where the two teams win all the time.

that was wishful thinking on my part, I meant Arsenal and ManU, and not Arsenal "alone", which was obvious from the argument in the first place.
And you should update your personal facts as well because Arsenal have won 2EPL titles and 3 FA Cups in the last six years.

I edited my original post and added ManU.

I don't think of the obvious. I just read! (H) No offense intended.

2002 isn't 6 years ago.

Anyway, Ferguson may not be what he's built up to be, but he's a vital part of Rangers, it's good they didn't sell him.

Indeed, this also happens in Scotland though. In the past couple of years Inverness Caledonian Thistle have knocked out Celtic twice in the Scottish Cup. Last season in the league Motherwell and Hearts both beat Celtic and Motherwell also beat Rangers.

Newcastle, Chelsea and Liverpool will be contenders until towards the end when the same outcome willl occur, i.e a Man Utd and Arsenal run in as the others start to fall. The last team to win outwith this pair was Blackburn almost 10 years ago!
