Benfica have signed with the greek left back Takis Fyssas from Panathinaikos in a free transfer.

I agree with you, i think this guy is nothing special and we have here in our country much better Left Backs (and youngers!), the only positive thing in this sign is that he's comming in a free transfer...:rolleyes:

Fysas is a good player who is performing very very well the last few years. Thats why Benfica signed him

mixafendis is right. Fyssas is 1.88 m tall which is good height for a defender, and he's pretty good. Usually a starter with pao.

fysssas is a very good player. dont say he is just some average player. he is very strong, and is consistant. just because you havent heard of him doenst mean his not good.

And just because people think he's crap doesn't mean they've never heard of him.

IMO, I totally agree. Fyssas is at an age where inconsistancy is JUST around the corner. There were many other options for Benfica, which is why I think this signing is pretty much comparible to putting a board on top of a pot-hole.

How about Di Baggio, he's way over 30 and still plays very well. Fyssas is 30, but he's still got time. I mean, Benfica did get a very good player, he's consistent, has experience in the late stages of the champions league and international experience. I won't say he's the best left back out there, but they still got good player and that's all that counts.

i think i will trust more in our greek friends opinion than in others from guys that never saw him play...

Good signing IMO. Plays for 2-3 years then we have Tiago Gomes.

BTW, I've seen him play and he's good. Plus he'll bring tons of experience to an inexperienced squad. Two signings in 1 week? Not too shabby. Now I hear 2 more players will come :D

At least Fyssas should be better than Cristiano, he has to be, every player is better than him, i mean he's VERY slow, doesnt know how to pass the ball and does lots of fools... even rui jorge is much bettter than him :rolleyes:

But with Luisão and fyssas benfica will defenately gonna be stronger than now.

Strange though this only appears in "Correio da Manha", but i hope it's true Cristiano really s**** badly :kader:

Hope they make the group stages of the ECL. They're putting together good squad.

Fyssas played in PAO last match, and according to "correio da manha" by that time he should already by signing with benfica. I think that probably this guy will only come to benfica in january cause the "sport" portuguese newspapres dont mention fyssas being transfered now, only record says benfica will make a last try to make him come before 1st september. I personnaly dont think benfica should buy a 30 year old, but than again cristiano is to bad :(

Please Camacho put Tiago Gomes, he won't do worse than Cristiano :p
