View Full Version : Real Madrid news(Ayala from Valencia, Makelele to Chelsea, etc.)...
RoyIsALegend 28-08-2003, 08:43:PM After having been quiet in the past few weeks regarding transfers and the Claude Makelele fiasco, Real Madrid are set to string off several moves.
First, the club has announced they have let go Julio Cesar who has signed on with Valladoid. This completes Valladoid manager Fernando Vasquez's search for defensive reinforcements.

Also, the club has indeed allowed forward Pedro Munitis to leave the club and he has signed on with Deportivo La Coruna. Real Madrid director of football Jorge Valdano is pleased with this move as it saves the club from a large wage bill for Munitis for next season.

The subtraction of Munitis means that Fernando Morientes will indeed be staying with the club, and will split time with Portillo as the backups to Raul and Ronaldo. Real have denied Schalke's second bid of $9 M for the Spanish forward.

Finally, reports out of Spain say it is a 99.9 percent sure thing that central defender and Valencia skipper Ayala will join the Spanish giants sometime Thursday afternoon. He is part of Valencia's cost-cutting moves after failing to qualify for the Champions League this year. At the bottom of the article, it is also said that Madrid and Chelsea will agree to a transfer fee sometime today on Claude Makelele. This means Helguera will either step up from the line and play Makelele's central defensive midfielder position or Cambiasso will fill it as he has done since Makelele walked out.

I'm sorry, I don't understand...?
PSVFOREVER 28-08-2003, 09:56:PM Ayala will be one of their best signings of the last couple of years, with him the defence will become actually good. Strange summer this is, first Barca gets a good keeper, now Real Madrid gets a good defence. What's next Liverpool playing attractive football;)
antithesis 28-08-2003, 10:01:PM smart move with Helguera, he always looked like a midfielder playing centre-back.
With Carlos playing like a left winger they can keep Figo on the right and let him alternate during the game with Beckham, and keep Zidane to the left-of-centre.
Valdano is one smart cookie, good player too in his day.

I don't know how smart it is of him to let Makelele go. We don't have anybody else who can play such a good transitional game and provide great defense as well. With our midfielders(Zidane, Beckham, Figo, Guti and Solari), we don't really have any defensive specialists and Makelele is one of the top five in the world with Viera, Davids, etc.
Chelsea will be strengthening their club big time with his acquisition.

Do you have a link or a source for that?
Everything I've read says Valencia are in, and I quote, 'desperate financial straits... and have informed a host of big-name stars - including Ayala, Carew and Sanchez - that they will be offloaded by the club.'
I believe if Real offers up a substantial amount of money, Valencia will have no choice but to accept and help out their situation.
Adding Ayala would be a dream for our team... I feel he'd be the best defensive defender on our club alongside Salgado. Helguera is better suited to play above the line and can back up the midfielders perfectly, and Pavon and Roberto Carlos form a good complimentary unit. Pavon is the bigger, stronger defender and Carlos will basically be a left wing back at that point.
antithesis 28-08-2003, 10:44:PM well Makelele signed a contract then complains.
I can never appreciate that, if Jordan could play in the NBA when he was the twentieth best paid without complaining then Makelele should relax.
I can understand asking for more money, we are all entitled to that, but if they say honour your contract, then either shut up or be traded, so I don't blame Valdano for that.
Sharkman: I didn't mean move Carlos from left back, but the way he plays he occupies that midfield space anyway, so it's tactically smart to leave it "open" and play the 4-1-3-2 system that they look like they want to use.
Remember most teams are afraid to attack down Madrid's left side (just like Arsenal's), because of the fear of Carlos and Zidane and Raul who play directly down the left path.
Dream Team 28-08-2003, 10:57:PM At this moment i'm seeing Ortiz(Valencia president) saying Ayala doesn't go out.
Please God let Ayala come
it is on www.as.com about orti
we need him

Real Are Not Getting Ayala

chatterbox 29-08-2003, 08:23:AM Valencia said that Real should REALly REALly increase the Ayala offer so now Real told Chelsea to increase the Makelele offer. INFACT, Valencia have reportedly said that they will reject the Ayala bid so there is a good chance that Chelsea will have to go over the top to lure Real to let go of Makelele.
or maybe Chelskov would just aim for Ayala..
:)
Its kinda shocking how Milan rejects have turned out..
Kluivert, Davids, Ayala, Desaily, Maccarone, Reiziger..
Ayala is not practicing due to "moral reasons"
hopefully he can still come
panxoman 29-08-2003, 10:29:PM "moral reasons"? a football player has moral reasons? usually the only reason they know is money
he also has not flown for their next game against vallaolid
ihope he forces valencia to sell him
