View Full Version : hmmm...about chelsea
PopeChris 01-09-2003, 04:30:PM I'm watching the Parma-Bologna game yesterday and couldn't help but wonder why Chelsea didn't go for a two player deal by also buying Adriano? I mean he' s much younger and 10x more skilled than Crespo (dribbling wise, distributing the ball, dead ball situation. quicker, better release of his shots, and bigger)
Is it because of the way his contract is structured? Being partly owned by Inter and stuff? Or maybe Parma wouldn't go for that?
He reminds me of of Henry a bit.....only more bulky and taller.....what an awesome striker, him and Mutu should've always been a combo
Virgo 01-09-2003, 04:35:PM I think Crespo is a better striker and Adriano a better forward if you know what I mean. I doubt Parma would want to sell the two tho
PopeChris 01-09-2003, 04:41:PM " think Crespo is a better striker and Adriano a better forward if you know what I mean"
well put. I didnt really look at it like that. You're right Adriano is more like Henry in that he can be found in the middle of the field and on both wings....he runs around the field a lot instead of your usual Christian Vieri-esque type of player. I guess Crespo will compliment either of the two (hasselbaink and Mutu) very well
Jono82 01-09-2003, 05:35:PM Chelsea have now signed Makelele
How many more players does this club need?! :f***:
Chelsea have completed the signing of France midfielder Claude Makelele from Real Madrid.
The deal for the 30-year-old was completed at 11.30pm last night, under 12 hours before the Champions League qualifying deadline.
Makelele has signed a four-year contract after moving for an undisclosed fee. After finalising the deal he immediately set off to join up with the France squad for their games against Cyprus and Slovenia.
Before going he told Chelsea TV of his former club: 'Everybody is talking about Chelsea. Real Madrid is no different to anyone. There's lots of interest, everybody is talking about the ambition of the London club, Chelsea.'
Chief executive Trevor Birch added that Makelele's signing would be the big-spending club's last before the transfer deadline later today.
He said: 'That's it. No more. We've finished!'
Makelele will take the number four shirt at Stamford Bridge.
Makelele's signing will take Chelsea's spending since Roman Abramovich took over the club in July over the £100million mark.
He is the 15th player to have been lured to Stamford Bridge by Amramovich's millions as the club try to assemble a squad capable of challenging for the Premiership and Champions League.
West Ham defender Glen Johnson was the first to move and a whole host of big names quickly followed including Geremi, Wayne Bridge, Damien Duff, Joe Cole, Juan Sebastian Veron, Adrian Mutu and Hernan Crespo.
northstar 02-09-2003, 12:15:PM Inter sold Crespo because next year they will have Adriano. Parma owns half of him, but its really more like a long term loan.
monkee 02-09-2003, 01:24:PM Where's Makelele going to play? On Lampard's shoulders?
Andrew 02-09-2003, 01:29:PM i think that there starting 11 should be something like this
correct me if im wrong
Cudicini
Johnson Desailly Gallas Bridge
Makelele
Geremi Veron
Duff
Crespo(hasslebaink?)
Mutu
Andrew 02-09-2003, 01:30:PM edit that didnt quite work ill try it again
PaPaGeorGeo 02-09-2003, 01:51:PM They didnt go for Adriano because first of all there looking for a balance in the sqaud Yound and Old and also they have Mutu for there creative role so what they needed was a Striker that is good at heading and Finishing thats why the got Crespo and not Adriano
Andrew 02-09-2003, 01:57:PM i think hasslebaink is far better than crespo
monkee 02-09-2003, 02:35:PM Why would they drop Lampard, he's been in great form recently?
Amika 02-09-2003, 02:43:PM well, they will continue the spending according to BBC sports...
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is willing to double his £100m spending spree at Stamford Bridge, say reports.
Claude Makalele's £16m arrival from Real Madrid took Chelsea's outlay past the £111m mark - and it is already being suggested there is plenty more where that came from.

Well i dont know why they need to further their spending. With the squad they have they could win the Premiership if you know what i mean. And with this squad in CM we wouldnt need to make individual instructions for each player...:crazyboy: Who they're going for now? Nesta? Samuel? Buffon? Ronaldo? Raul? I mean, they're starting to look like a 13-year old boy who just got like 100 bucks to spend and starts to buy everything he sees in his front...
TOON ARMY 02-09-2003, 09:09:PM I think come Janauay they'll bring in a defender
Bobby 02-09-2003, 10:36:PM Throw Eidur over this way.
Jedi Mind Trick 02-09-2003, 10:37:PM hasselbaink, eidur, petit, and gronkjaer might as well start looking for new teams in january.

Petit and Hasselbank have been told by the club that they will remain no matter what.
SlayerDeuS 02-09-2003, 11:13:PM Adriano is brazilian and brazilians don't play in the EPL because they are too 'upity'.
Bobby 02-09-2003, 11:19:PM Gilberto starts in the EPL.

Juninho also starts in the EPL.
Bobby 03-09-2003, 01:37:AM Kleberson and Edu are on EPL rosters aswell.
shokz 03-09-2003, 01:42:AM Roque Junior too - On-loan to Leeds, why dont we just name each Brazilian in England? :p.
Emerson, now in Scotland, did wonders for Middlesbrough when they first came to the Premiership, so I guess he doesnt really count.
I personally like Gilberto Silva alot, also made a name for himself last season, scoring on his Arsenal debut, taking the Community Shield to Highbury last year, putting his name in the record books for scoring the fastest ever Champions League goal.

English football is more physical then Italian football thats why italians don't ajust to English football expect Zola he did well in England.
northstar 03-09-2003, 12:19:PM All the forwards will stay. there is only 4 on the sqaud right now.
monkee 03-09-2003, 12:24:PM I agree with Wenger about 1 thing... For Ranieri to have spent £111m over the summer and to say that they probably won't win the championship this year is ridiculous. They'll need time to settle sure, but if you spend that sort of money success is a must or he's just not good enough. Imagine if Ferguson or Wenger had spent that sort of money on new players and then proclaimed that someone else will probably win it! They wouldn't be doing their job properly would they and the fans would want to know why.
Amika 03-09-2003, 01:26:PM yeah.. with that amount of money spend you just can't justify if you can't win the title... just imagine that amount would be enough for arsenal to clear off the debts for their new stadium...
