View Full Version : Eriksson named England manager!!!!
I got a phone call from a well placed friend in Italy and he told me that the FA have already appointed Sven to the position.
And I just logged on to the BBC website and THEY are also reporting that an Italian news agency is saying the same thing.
We just rock as far as news on this forum is concerned http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif
We beat Sky Sports and Soccernet to the ball.

I keep refreshing the Beep's website for updates.
I'm not sure how I feel about this. A Swede managing England says something about the quality of our managers. I would've preferred Hodgson or Taylor.
But that being said, I expect nothing less than a shiny 2002 Jules Rimey from Mr. Eriksson. http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
From the Italian news agency that broke the story:
(ANSA). PT

Ok, England can get Jules Rimet, we take Henry Delauney... http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
If Eriksson had success, its because he has great players like Veron,Mihajlovic,Salas,Crespo,Lopez and a great amount of infinite cash wich gets him to buy the best players in the world .Dont think just because he won all those titles with Lazio that he will have the same success ,look at Lippi ,he won every single trophy with Juve and yet when he went to inter ,he never won anything .Just dont beleive in hype, just let him be and time will show if he is truly the best coach in the world or just a coach who had an easy time with a strong team .
Damn, the "Coupe Henri Delauney" is the trophy of the European Championship but I meant the new "FIFA World Cup"!
What I was trying to say is that there is a new cup since Brazil won the Jules Rimet Cup for the third time in 1970!
Too bad, I fell into my own trap... http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

You got the best manager possible! I just feel shit about him not taking over the Swedish national team instead!
Well, if England doesn't do better now, it is not because of the coach, but because of the player material he will get to work with... Now we will really see what the English are made of...
And for those of you who say that he only has won with Lazio (and infinite cash) don't know much. He won the UEFA cup with IFK Göteborg and the Portuguese league with Benfica just to name a few of his accomplishments.
I only have a few words to say...
GOOD LUCK "SVENNIS"!
Ohh well, it had to happen eventually, England appointing a foreigner...
The bet thing for Australia was when a appointed Venables, so hopefully Eriksson can pull England back together.
Also, I hope Australia beats Scotland at Hampden Park, then again, we did lose to S Korea 4-2 a couple of weeks ago....
hey guys ..... easy .... Svenny is not going to give England Mr. Rimet's trophy. He might have them look at it on TV .... but for now, do not jump to crazy conclusions.
At least Sven will offer a change in style for the better. He can utilise Owen and Fowler and Cole and Phillips .... geez .... they might even make the World Cup. (then you can say they will win the Trophy)
a BIG mistake!!
you need new players not new managers!
what's the use if Man Utd will win anyway!

so what happens to peter taylor?
rubbish! A FOREIGNER FOR ENGLAND!!!!!
maybe if a foriegner than should 've been wenger..coz he's been around the english game!
THIS WILL BE EITHER A REVOLUTION
OR ADISASTER...if they don't adapt to the system and lose the strengths in their game style!
Now Lazio say they won't release Eriksson for the spring qualifiers. So what happens when England wins those games 5-0 under care-taker manager(Alan Shearer), will they still want Eriksson?
My point is appointing coaches to start managing your team 8 months in advance, while you have to win games now just doesn't make sense.
"So what happens when England wins those games 5-0 under care-taker manager(Alan Shearer), will they still want Eriksson? "
I'm pretty sure u mean peter taylor instead of alan shearer as care-taker http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/confused.gif
I meant it as half-joke, poking fun at A_Shearer who visits the forum. But wouldn't it be great if Shearer was appointed? that would rule! And he is already appointed as an assistant coach, so why not?
If Alan Shearer were appointed England manager, it wouldn't be fair to the opposition.
We would maul every team we played by at least 3 goals. The World Cup would be no contest.
Obviously we aren't ready for such powerful international dominance. http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
