Papadapolous blows Libe out of the water, Libe is way to inconsistant. We have better forwards than last year, our problem is midfield.

haha you dont come out and say we dont have a shot, but you argue about if Ronaldo will score his first goal against us, and bring up arguments that no greek team has ever won in england. we've come damn close to beating english teams even thougn your lower A division teams have more money than our top greek teams.

Since when did I "argue" about the possibility of Ronaldo getting his first goal against PAO? Its called prediction.

When did I ever "argue" and bring up "arguements" of Greek teams coming close beating an English team.

PAO have a good chance of kicking some British butt tommorow evening.

i wrote that you shouldnt write pao off, which was a statement i wrote generally to all people responding in this post, because so many of you have. its quite apparent when you are making predictions on whether or not ronaldo is going to score his first goal. that shows that you have already said one team is crap, and now all your predicting is who scores and how many.

please do not respond to this, since you know your right you shouldnt need to. just talk about the game.

Teams in the UEFA CL are always a tough prospect and I hope that the team does not share the same 'confidence' as some of you guys otherwise they could be in for a shock (like in the Wolves game). If the shirts go out with the right mentality then our chances will improve.

I've not seen Panathinaikos play recently, but greek teams are usually a tough prospect, although they aren't as good away from home as they are at home.

No predictions from me.

Diving is nothing new to Pires and Jeffers and even your so-called "hardworking midfielder" Psychopatrick Vieira is a fat cheat.

have anyone noticed we havent scored a penalty like liverpoo and gooners? it really is a great record and i think that us, blackburn, wolves and a few more teams should try to stop scoring from the "spot"..... speaking of spots....

Bernard also dived. You guys did not notice cause he is a low-profile player. The Sky Blues Sun Jihai also dived, you should see the show I watched.

Back to the game, we now have a habit of scoring from set-pieces,
v Bolton, free-kick from giggsy
v Wolves, o' shea's header made possible by forlan
v Charlton, giggs assist from a free-kick and a free-kick that "somehow" found van nistelrooy....

we should have the edge and no surprise if ronaldo scores a free-kick....

Nope, that 3-1 game was where United took the lead in the 48th minute through Sheringham, then Panathiniakos equalised in the 64th minute with a goal from Karagounis. United finished the game off with two goals from Scholes - 81st and 90th minutes.

The 1-1 game was where Panathiniakos held out until the very last minute. ;)

Tonight I'm predicting 2-0 to United. With 25 goals in 26 CL games for United I can see Ruud being one of the scorers.

MC-Ryan Giggs

I think City and Newcastle have a huge chance of bringing the UEFA Cup home this year as long as none of the big teams get knocked out of the group stage of the CL.

Newcastle should be in the damn CL, well, its a better chance of actually winning something.

He played ok, could've been a bit better, was caught offside a couple of times, strange to see him not score when there were 5 goals scored. :).

Although I still think he should've been rested at half-time. :mrpimp: Huge game on Sunday.

For tonight's match, a great start to our Champions League campaign. I'm not really surprised that we won but what surprised me most was the score line. Fantastic result. (H) :rockman:

after reading reports, i cant belive our coach thought that going into england was a good place to try out a experimental attacking system that we dont usually use. i wont be surprised if hes fired in the next few days.

If only Sergio were coach, the best coach that has ever coached in Greece next to Rehhagel and Puskas. Shum, he's better off back in Macabi unless he gets the results needed in the next games.

i just wanted to say congrats to ManU and their fans. Although i couldn't see the game, the scoreline leaves nothing to the imagination. total demolition - something we have gotten used to when ManU are in full flow.

Awesome display :)

He was saving it for the Arsenal match.

Shame Jeffers is away, we could've seen a dive-fest.

shokz
17-09-2003, 08:12:AM
oh aye, Ruud, Pires, aswell as Jeffers could've been setting the standards for diving on Sunday. :crazyboy:

Ruud: Watch this, You will never be as good as me in the diving department.

Pires: Yea sure.

Pires watches on from the edge of the area, as Ruud gets the ball, and falls over, ref ways play on.

Pires laughs.

Pires: Haha, you fool, this is how its done, I shall now set the standards

*10 seconds on......... the whistle blows, the stretford end has erupted like a volcano, the Home Supporters are disgusted at the ref.*

Then Tim Howard saves it. :crazyboy:

We had a reasonable first-half, we turned it on at times, and took control of the game, but there was quite a lot of sloppy passing going on at times, and we gave away the ball when we shouldn't have.

The second half was a different matter, the midfield was shaken up, and no-one really wanted to do anything to risk getting booked/injured, and we simply slowed it down, and simply played out the last 45 minutes, with the occasional bits of fantastic passing to create chances.

We weren't bad by any means, but we're going to come up against far tougher opposition than Panathinaikos in the Champions League, and will need to perform far better to get a winning result.
However, in saying that, considering that both Paul Scholes and Roy Keane were out, it was a fantastic result to get, and it has to be a great boost for Djemba and Fortune in particular, to get a goal.

Not bad...but better next time.

17-09-2003, 11:51:AM
Good result. What was surprising is that it was a 5-0 scoreline and Ruud didn't score one of them, although his performance was still very good. Shows that we don't have to rely on Van Nistelrooy to get our goals.

Good to see Fortune get his first European goal, I see him becoming a very important part of the squad this season. I've always rated him and last season it was disappointing that he picked up so many injuries just as he was showing his class. It was also good For Djemba to get his first Man Utd goal, from what I've seen of him he has a bright future at the club.

5-0 though... I didn't think Pana were that good, they weren't what I was expecting anyway. What was good was seeing the lads getting back in the flow after 3 below par performances in the EPL and a lengthy International break. We still need to improve a bit before the Arsenal game this weekend but that looked like a step in the right direction.
