Poor conversion yes. However, it is possible to make the game play at normal speed. I assume you're using WinXP since Win98SE and Win2k users generally don't experience the slowdowns. The solution is not to delete the sound files but turn down sound acceleration completely in windows. Also, closing programs running in the background (such as Antivirus, firewall, etc) can help.
also if youre using xp, you can set the compatibility of the exe to work for 98. That way it`ll be something better but...

Actually, I can’t even start up the game :(
First, I see black screen and after I see ordinary window’s desktop – the game doesn’t run.
I’ve celeron 1.7 Ghz, win 98 se, 500 Mb ddr ram (333 Mhz clock), video GeForce4 MX 420 (64 Mb), audio SB audigy, detonator 43.45. direct X 9.0
Just wonder, am I one - who can’t run up ISS3 under mentioned configuration?
My friend (who has win xp) easily could run the game with much poor hardware.

The black screen is normal but the game should load normally after that. It looks like you're using the latest detonators. Perhaps rolling back to the 41.09 or 30.81 drivers (better stability) would help.

You've tried tweaking the game speed in the options menu, yes?

Thanks for advice.
But the problem is - when I first tried to start the game I had 29.xx driver (direct X 8.0), but game didn’t run.
So, I decided to d/l the latest driver and direct X 9.0 – and result the same – I can’t run up iss3.
It’s funny – iss3 my first game, which doesn’t run. Even Collin 3 (which is - PS2 port) goes smoothly.
