ALEX´S STATS
08/03/2000

Alessandro Del Piero is looking more like his old self by the day. Just as it should be, the great number 10 is back to his best on cue, just as he had forecast a few months ago to Juve´s medical staff. He was declared fully fit at the end of February. His fans, who adore him, are still waiting for his first goal from open play, after seeing him convert six penalties (from six attempts) so far this season. It means a lot to Alex, although when broached on the subject he dismisses it with a laugh and a joke, as he knows full well how important his contribution is. He has so far come out with, "Maybe it was written that this year I would be the provider" or, "I´ll have to start keeping count of all the times I hit the bar and post" and - best of all - "You´ll have to widen the goals for me." Del Piero is without doubt very important to Juve. Carlo Ancelotti said so himself, declaring that 20 or so of Juve´s goals are down to him. The papers also back this up by attributing 43% of the Bianconeri´s goals to him. This is a match by match run down of all of Del Piero´s assists.
1. CAGLIARI-JUVE 0-1: A corner by Del Piero headed in by Conte.
2. JUVE-UDINESE 4-1: An assist for Zambrotta.
3. JUVE-MILAN 3-1: A perfect pass for Inzaghi who makes it 2-1.
4. JUVE-BOLOGNA 2-0: A pass for Inzaghi who goes on to score (1-0).
5. JUVE-BOLOGNA 2-0: Another assist for Inzaghi who makes it 2-0.
6. JUVE-INTER 1-0: Yet another perfect through ball for Inzaghi.
7. REGGINA-JUVE 0-2: A corner by Del Piero headed in by Kovacevic.
8. UDINESE-JUVE 1-1: A corner headed in by Ferrara.
9. JUVE-BARI 2-0: A wonderful back heel for Conte who scores the first goal. Alex himself scored the second goal from the penalty spot.

...and he does not score for 512 days...
He surely plays better than some months ago, but to really be himself again (or that guy he was in 97-98) he needs to score some goals...he plays as forward.

Yes, good point also remember this was written for Juventus site so of course they will try to put the most positive spin on his play. Here is a hypothetical for you: would you rather have Vieri or Del Piero?
