View Full Version : Which team has got the best back-ups?
I would have to say Chelsea and Milan.. But actually I dont know other team backups.. Here's what I'd call ''Milan B''
Abbiati - Italy's 3rd keeper
Pancaro - Sven Goran's first choice left back when at Lazio
Laursen - Danish starting International
Costacurta - Player with a lot of experience, can play at right, left and centre back
Simic - Croat who was named in WC98's dream team for his excellent work as a centre back
Ambrosini - Italian international, same mould as Keane (Tough, always heated player)
Serginho - A player who is altho 32, has pace like a bullet!
Brocchi - Utility player, useful.. But more of just an average member
Rivaldo - Need I describe him?
Tomasson - Got 4 goals in the WC in Japan/Korea with Denmark, already has one for this season
Boriello - Got Italy's (u-21) last goal in the beating of Wales (u-21).. The 8th goal of the match aight?
Fernandez 07-10-2003, 07:04:PM Barthez - French International
P. Neville - England International
Wes Brown - Soon to be established England International
O'Shea - Irish International
David Bellion - One Prem League goal for Sunderland
Nicky Butt - Regular England International who played a part in beating Turkey at Stadia of Light
Eric Djemba - Cameroonian International who performed well
Cristiano Ronaldo - Prodigy and soon-to-be Portuguese International
Darren Fletcher - Scottish International who has one cap and tipped to be the next "Becks"
Diego Forlan - Country goalscoring striker who scores crucial goals....
Shev, Cudicini is Italy's 3rd choice keeper...
VanTheMan 07-10-2003, 07:36:PM chelsea has no doubt the best back-up but that will split by the january transfer market when roman becomes a villain from a hero.

of course, every team has their backup players.
but you did ask for the BEST, right?
Fernandez 07-10-2003, 08:00:PM so you are saying that most of chelsea team are plying in reserves? chelsea can win the reserve league....

anyone wanna tell me when we started talking about the reserve league/team?
arsenal's backup midfielders are like who, edu, gilberto (albeit getting a few starts these days)..
they don't play in the reserves league do they?
yim87 07-10-2003, 09:00:PM here's chelsea..
GK : neil sullivan / macho / ambrosio / whatever...
RB : Glen Johnson
CB : Gallas
CB : Robert Huth
LB : Babayaro
RM : Gronkjaer
CM : Petit
CM : Geremi
LM : Joe Cole
CF : Hasselbaink
CF : Gudjohnsen
PaPaGeorGeo 07-10-2003, 09:20:PM Hmm Arsenal dont have the greatest back up players but when Vieira or Campbell are out we seem to lift and make up for them
shokz 07-10-2003, 09:43:PM I'd say Chelsea, there backups finished 4th last season.
::Jason:: 07-10-2003, 10:29:PM Chelseas material is definetely the widest in the premiership..
Jedi Mind Trick 08-10-2003, 12:02:AM definitely chelsea.

definately Milan or Chelsea... wouldn't mind seeing a Milan Reserves vs Chelsea Reserves match :crazyboy:
Run DMB 08-10-2003, 02:25:AM I can't believe nobody's mentioned Bayern Munchen. They could easily play two teams every week in the Bundesliga, and their second team would beat half of their opponents.
Allen 08-10-2003, 02:28:AM i still think Chelsea and AC Milan have the best ups not Bayern Munich.
Bobby 08-10-2003, 02:29:AM Yea, Bayern have a strong squad
But it'd have to be Chelski.
northstar 08-10-2003, 02:32:AM It has to be Chelsea
Milan is close but the midfield is not as strong as Chelseas IMO and the forwards are no where near as good.
Voltaic Borusse 08-10-2003, 02:34:AM Yeah, Chelsea . . they've got one of the best advantages. Almost like having two seperate teams. :o
IceBlu 08-10-2003, 02:36:AM Milan ?! hah
Abbiati - good
Pancaro - decent
Laursen - decent
Costacurta - good
Simic - average
Ambrosini -crap
Serginho - good
Brocchi - crap
Rivaldo - dead
Tomasson - terrible
Boriello - average.
^^^ thats a decent team but not the 'greatest' backup team. definitely not.
Chelsea definitely have a very good backup team... and year Bayern too.
Juve's isnt shabby either.
A. Chimenti - decent
Birindelli - hell he would be a first team player in most teams
Iuliano - Good (Milan want him)
Ferrara - Legend (lost a bit of pace, but is still solid and reliable)
Fresi - average (doesn't get enough time to prove himself)
Pessotto - Great !
Tudor - if he wasn't injured so often he would be one of the greatest
Davids - No comments
Maresca - excellent
Olivera - one of the most promising youngsters
Conte - another legend
Miccoli - Class
Zalayeta - very useful player. Barca would know :p
Di Vaio - great !
... thats wayyyyy better than Milan's backups.
$teauA 08-10-2003, 02:54:AM chelsea by far if u ask me
PSVFOREVER 08-10-2003, 03:02:AM Chelsea, but the players will get unhappy cause they don't play (enough). I can't see Geremi all the season on the bench without complaining
Geremi was banned PSV, thats why he hasn't played last few games.
Alistair 08-10-2003, 11:08:AM Chelsea has by far the most depth.. Basically any player can be replaced by one that is just as good...
Jedi Mind Trick 08-10-2003, 11:11:AM yea ranieri wasn't joking when he said he wanted 2 at each position.
Alistair 08-10-2003, 02:46:PM yeah, chelsea has the depth, especially up front.. Mutu and Crespo can be easily replaced with Gudjohnsen and Hasselbaink and vice-versa etc.. and then in midfield u have endless possibilities with several quality midfielders.. Lampard, Veron, Geremi, Duff, petit, Gronkjaer the list goes on and on..
ogsimon 08-10-2003, 03:07:PM chelsea
soccerbest 08-10-2003, 03:15:PM got to be chelski, although Juve and Milan, got good back-up as well.
I think Chelsea have a major advantage not just the obvious, when it comes to injuries but there players can avoid being run-down like Arsenal last year.
could someone show us Real's? And no, Cudicini is not Italy's third, its Abbiati but I have to agree that Cudicini is a good keeper too.. But with Buffon at the helm.. Italy's goalkeeper is gonna be the same for the next 10 years at least..

oh, I didn't know that. But still I don't think all their midfielders will be happy all the season

huh you forgot Toldo.
Toldo? I was talking about the first and third gk's..
Toldo is 2nd choice and would only fill Buffon if he aint fit.. But it aint often Buffon gets injured..
314frog 08-10-2003, 10:11:PM AC Milan.... they gots prolly the best back up
peace
