Guys,

I have always brought the fifa series for the PC, however i am going to buy either a playstation 2 or an Xbox , i have never owned a console before, and would like to know what console is the best? the only games i want for a console for is Fifa (obviously) and fighting games.
Fifa is the only ever footy game ive played, whats PES 1,2,3 and iss like compared to fifa.
I hope you can persuade me in which direction to go in , i will still get fifa 2004 for the pc , just so i can enjoy everyones add-ons.

xbox is the best, and also it can be modified, you can manage game files, with xbox programs, you can have a HD up to 200 gb full of games, emulators, music, videos, you can watch dvds, vcds, svcds, divx, and I'm writing a program, to edit fifa 2003, but now, I'll work on fifa 2004, with the things I know from 2003 on xbox, so it's posible that you can edit fifa 2004 games in xbox, as the computer, not at all, but names, teams, numbers, but I'm trying to find the way to edit graphics, the ps2 is good, but the xbox has more future, the ps2 has more games, but the xbox is begining to hace more games too.

From a gamers point of view, I would generally stick with the PS2 because the PS2 has a vast variety of games with great 3rd party support. In terms of quasi-better graphics, the XBOX would be the better choice if you're nit-picky about specs. In reality, the graphics are about the same. The XBOX has an upside = No memory card needed and you are able to upload your own music.

I prefer playing video games on my consoles. I find it more comfortable for some reason. Playing video games on consoles are hassel free. No need to install the game or bother with updating drivers and 3D cards. I hate dealing with that bull****.

PS2 for only one reason.... the controllers for xbox suck(even the little ones)

XBOX controllers are fine if you don't have little boy hands and the hard drive is great. I'd say XBOX.

PS2 because the controller is SIMPLE and I'd say it has a better variety of games. I'd still recommend you'd go with your PC if you like to able to edit the game

there is nothing wrong with the xbox smaller controller, just getting used to it.

xbox is more powerful and has some great games coming out, has ethernet and a hardrive incorporated.

ps2 has a larger selection of games because it has been out longer.

Yes I had the same question las year, and a got the Xbox and the fifa 2003 well I play it for a few months and after that I was don with the fifa 2003 I quit, I did not use the Xbox jus to play movies as dvd's. And I have I 55' HD tv so I also have the HD cables for the XBox, it looks good but not as good as my PC.

so I sold the Xbox And the games a had, so I am going to get the best video card on the market for my pc, I allready move my desk to the livingroom and a had hook up my computer the tv so when a feel plaing on a big screen i just go to de sofa and the grafics are as good as the Xbos or better I can play the game at 1024X768 on my tv and when a play in my pc I play it at 1600X1200 32 color.

No cansole game can be better than a good pc with a good grafic card. PC is the true deal

No, XBOX cannot compete with a high performance PC . . expecially a PC that is churning out 120 frame rates per/second. Yes, it's possible to hook up your XBOX to your PC monitor. You need a VGA Adaptor.

if you have a top of the line pc with all the latest stuff.. then you'll get better graphics... but that requires a lot of money...

xbox graphics are very good.. but not that good.. but if you have an HD tv then is almost there

Yeah, an HDTV (Sony Vega) with the right performance plugs (S-Video Cables) will dramatically increase the graphics and make it look really sharp.

I had the exact same problem this spring and bought an Xbox. You should do the same. (Sweet graphics).

Getting back to the question, I'd go for the PS2 over the xbox. Although the xbox has better specs the PS2 has the best games, which is what it's all about, right? You are never going to get games such as Gran Turismo 4 on the x-box, no matter how long it's out, as it's about 3rd party contracts, not the time that the console has been on the shelves. Also the PS2 is going to be ready to go with the online play aspect of FIFA 2004 (yay!) while the xbox isn't-some dispute between microsoft and EA I believe- and may not be for some time. Also, no PES on xbox *room goes quiet and takes on angry vibe at mention of game* ;)

well.. if you mention grand turismo.. yes.. but you also have half life 2, top spin, halo 2, deus ex 2 and project gotham racing 2 will be as good as grand turismo 4

edit: what I mean is.. both games have good games coming out, both games have good exclusive games coming out... so just get whatever console has the lineup of games that seems more appealing to you

I just saw some Some screens of the Ps2 version on the movie and screenshot thread and it wasn't looking so good.
Im not really surprise because the last time I was in a videogame store they had NCAA Football 2004 on XBOX and PS2 on one TV. The guy will flip the switch and it will clearly show you the difference between both system. There wan't much of a difference in last year;s version but this year it has changed.

Fifa on PS2
Online Play

Fifa on Xbox
NO memory cards
custom music
Best graphcs as of matter of fact graphics are the same as high end PC if using HDTV.

Project gotham racing 2 as good as GT4? he,he. You were doing well up until there. ;) Seriously though, I agree with your point, there is really not much between the two systems with everything taken into account. The best thing to do if considering buying a console would be to hire each one out for a week, hire a whole bunch of games and see which console appeals the most.

Half-Life 2 has been delayed because some jerk-off hacked into the site and released their engine.

The GT series make a mockery out of Project Gotham. Those games are two totally different racing games, of course. But, GT3 is clearly the superior racing game, where as Project Gothams is based on kudos' points and has a low selection of vehicles and tracks. Project Gotham 2 as good as GT4? I think not. It doesn't even come close. You are able to tune up your cars in GT in so many ways, it's just about as real as you can get. GT is by far the best racing simulator ever . . . with a huge variety of cars. 500+ . . . and GT is packed with tons and tons of modes.
