View Full Version : Well, This is ENOUGH !
wabberXP 17-10-2003, 12:08:AM I think it's time to stop saying bad things about EA and FIFA.
it's impossible for EA - or any other companies - to make a 100% perfect game. They are trying to satisfy as many people as they can because they want their game to be the best, and they want the company to be successful. They really want to !
If you have any suggestions and you think there is something missing, you can say that or suggest it politely !!
like: "I think the goals are small and need to be bigger"
and then support your suggestion by other words.
like: "then you can choose the point and the angle which you want to score from"
I , myself, see that WE's goals are perfect in size and i wish that FIFA's goals were the same. but this won't prevent me playing the game and enjoying it because I BELIEVE that FIFA is better than WE.
Come on guys, You are waiting for the next version every year.
That means that you do care about FIFA and want it to be the best. Then help the company, because you are the ones who decide how will the next version of FIFA be. You can work from now to say your opinions and suggestions for FIFA 2005 while enjoying 2004.
finally, I think that if there is a WE game for the PC and there is a huge forum like this for it, it will be very hard for Konami to read their fans' complaints. because there will be a lot of them !!
ishan1990 17-10-2003, 12:15:AM I agree completely, we all want fifa to be better every year (and it is) and so does EA. Constructive critisizm is good, but things like
"EA sucks" is totally unhelpful and unneeded.
The problem is with EA, we've been waiting for a good gameplay since FIFA 98. They keep making promises and yet every time the demo come, the gameplay come short.
I can see from the demo they still uses FIFA 2003 engine, which can be a good thing, if they stick to it and continue to improve it, rather than change into another engine which mean they've to start from scratch again.
I hope when PES3 come to PC, FIFA will get some competition, maybe that's what they needed to work harder, so they can't release half-assed game (IMO) and expect to sell it like crazy every year.
NickSCFC 17-10-2003, 06:45:AM FIFA will need to have a big drop in sales this year if EA are going to really do something about the game play.
theCRO 17-10-2003, 06:54:AM since FIFA is one of the worst sports games in realese, some criticism, construvtive or otherwise, is sorely needed. They produce a half assed game and the competition is blowing them out of the water. Only because of the licences and the fanboys(look around this forum) they keep selling, so they keep making an inferior product. I'm sure if theres a football fan or fans at EA studios (if!) they play PES or WE on their lunch break :)
shevacrazy07 17-10-2003, 07:06:AM FINALLY! Thanks man for this thread. It seems these people don't get it. If you want a perfect soccer game, i'll tell you where to find one. GO OUTSIDE A PLAY SOCCER FOR A CLUB OR FOR YOUR SCHOOL!!!!!!! FIFA 2004 is a videogame, let me emphasize that it is a VIDEOGAME! And nothing in this world is perfect so quit whining and quit dissing EA, they're trying hard, yeah the gameplay is not really good, but they will continue to work on it in future games.

I love that quote: "the gameplay is not really good, but they will continue to work on it in future games." That's like saying "we know you're hungry so take a bite of this sh*t sandwich. Next year or the year after I'll make you a pizza!"

I agree. But if that guy just say 'it sux' and nothing else. It is not constructive at all. If he states the reason of why 'it sux', it's fine with me.
Glorious 17-10-2003, 01:51:PM But EA rush into making the FIFA series making huge flaws. FIFA are seriously influenced by the US dollar and South America and UEFA.
I see that a suitable reason why poeople say EA and FIFA "suck"
Jaehyun89 17-10-2003, 02:09:PM thecro, u realise critisizing here is doing nothing, ur just pissing other people off and making the atmopshere here bad, so if u wanna complain, email ea, and DON"T BLUDDY DIRTY UP THIS MESSAGE BOARD

If its just a game why they even care about coding it?
You gotta try hard for all your projects, why you are going to work on something that its not even worth it ?
If you creating a football game for the public then you really need to know what they want.
We know that its just a game but if they already took the time to code it and all that effort ..... money ..... why wasting it all at the end, they just need to finish it properly..
Not blaming EA , in fact they did a very good job creating fifa 2004... but their football vision its not precisely what we like.
Anyway I fixed already what i dont like about the gameplay, and the funny part is that some will say " Why fixing if its cool already "

VladoMontenegro 17-10-2003, 02:50:PM I like FIFA 2004 but EA failed again big time. Their other titles are just perfect. But it looks like that they still didnt realize what makes soccer gaimg fun. I will say again: THANKS GOD for WE AND PES. I would like to see FIFA get better but i suggest EA to stop developing this game because last 5 years the failed and i and everyone here is older and i will not wait for 5 years again LOL. I am talking to serious gamers and not some 13 years old newbs who would kill themselves for game bad as FIFA is. I always played FIFA and always will but i will no longer wait for it. Im going to order PES III and enjoy my scoring in PES II (anyone who played it knows what i am talking about). C ya

Why you not buying it? all the gameplay stuff already being fixed by members of the community ( Maybe this is better than letting EA to fix gameplay since probably they will go wrong again hehe )
Plus PES3 have no online multiplayer and editing capabilities of Fifas are better since lot of people develops tools...

Well actually there isn't. You can only post within the confines of the forum rules. In effect you are a guest in the owner's (Matt's) house, and he can edit/remove/ban you from the house as he pleases. So if you post something the moderation team don't like.......... ;)

Erm the problem with these gameplay patches is the online multiplyare issue. 2 players with different gameplay patches cannot play together i tried it. Won;t get PES3 for the PC here as i dun have a DVD drive... :(
hi ..if only Fifa should look like NHL ....wow !!! i dont' know how they can do a game like NHL and they can't make Fifa a litle better!!??

I'll be playing Winning Eleven 7 tonight.
Konami is GOD!!!!! There ya go, another useless statement! ;)

well we are fed up with ea because i have given up completely on them ever making a good soccer game. i really doubt they are trying to please everyone and over the years its now obvious that ea will never make a satisfying game for majority of us. if they listened to us carefully then they wouldn't have trouble making a proper soccer game but they can't even put or wants into perspective
Dave Is Sexy 17-10-2003, 10:21:PM Why dont you guys who criticise FIFA, try implementing all of the features that statisfies everyone on this planet.
Making a game with million-dollar budgets does not mean that it will have to satisify everyones needs.
There are time constraints that prohibits such features.
So guys, don't sook. They are trying their best!

footballhell77 17-10-2003, 10:56:PM yea time constraint my ass, so are you telling me the guys that work on Winning Eleven dont have time contraints too but yet they make a better game. And EA dont listen to anything we say becuz if so why did they take away TRAINING MODE, IN GAME MANAGEMENT, and many more stuff from older fifa games just to put it back in fifa2004. And i can bet you in Fifa2005 they will put creation center back on console and put back some other stuff. Maybe in 2006 they will put back indoor stadiums. Then in 2007 they will finally put in WEATHER then take away training again because of what?? TIME CONTRAINT, i wish i could use that excuse at school :f***: :f***: :f***:
HeeroYuy 17-10-2003, 10:58:PM Aaaaah, i remembered the point to that last statement, no matter how hard i try, it might just be that i'm no good at expelling energy from my fingertips, if that's the case, i might just give up.

Wintermute23 18-10-2003, 02:56:AM I've been visiting this forum for about three years now but it was only last week I decided to register.
All this time I've realised that this forum is full of misery!!!!
Some people just log on in order to say things without meaning!
All I read is "Fifa sucks" or "EA sucks".Well OK it's your opinion. But why don't you use some intelligent arguments."PES 3 is better than Fifa" is neither intelligent nor an argument.
Also what I cannot understand is why every year the same people are whinning about FIFA but at the end they are buying it.Are they retarded. When you say you don't like sth you don't go and buy it!!At least that is what mature and logical people do!!
Many of you are asking for a more realistic gameplay. If you want realism go out and play real soccer.Or is it too difficult and fearfull for you to get away from your computers.PCs are a mean of alternative entertainment.Life is not lived in front of a computer screen.Play FIFA or PES when the weather is bad or when you have nothing better to do.If you really like soccer go out with friends(if you have real friends) and play.
Get a life!!!Don't spend your time whinning about a computer program!EA is a company and naturally they don't want to offer a 100% perfect soccer game cause they wouldn't have to create something new every year. This is how money roll!!Last but not least,FIFA and PES are games. You play them to have fun.So they must also have an arcade feel.

I do like to play football in real life but also like computer games, and i do want realistic gameplay everywhere :) is it too much to ask? :)
Wintermute23 18-10-2003, 03:23:AM No it's not much to ask but we should never forget that computer games are products.Products of any kind are means of profit. For the good of the company they must never be perfect. For example if FIFA 98 was perfect, why should you buy FIFA 99.Better graphics and updated rosters are no big reasons.Patch makers would have made the latter. As for graphics you would wait for FIFA 2003.But then EA would have less income. That's why FIFA series is not perfect. Also don't forget that simulating real life situations is not an easy task.Hopefully every year FIFA is getting better.I never said it's perfect.
Funky--K 18-10-2003, 03:24:AM Why does the FIFA vs PES discussion allways has to be about gameplay? Simple! Coz that's the only thing PES is better at... I'll be honest, I've never looked forward to a game so much as I am for FIFA 2004! It's just a matter of what entertains you! I don't care if the gameplay sucks! I've been playing football for 5 years, and there's any game that satisfies the realism of real football, so I allways pick games for the other content! Authenticity is the key word! Real teams, real stadiums, realistic training mode, real-life-like career mode! Those are the things that enthusiasm me as a football computer game fan, not the gameplay! There isn't and there will never be a complete perfect gameplay, not even close... but FIFA has become real close to other aspects of reality this year....

True, no one ever complains about the ISS and WE commentry. Anyone who has played FIFA will find the commentry is more realistic and doesnt repeat "England Manager say" or "Home Team Manager says" a sh*t load of times in one game. Motty & Co are the best commentators in the business in terms of sports commentry. Even its rivals, Madden can't provide such quality.
As terms of gameplay, aren't they improving?
-You guys wanted a larger pitch - You got it in 2001 since.
-You guys dont want purfect passes, and a pinball like game - well, that has been improved.
-You guys wanted the ball to be independent of the players foot - you got that in 2003 since.
-You guys wanted shooting to be more complex, well, they are improving, like adding a shot bar - since 2001.
-You guys wanted more stadiums to enhance gameplay, you got more stadiums - since 2003.
So EA's FIFA is imporoving by year, and they should take some credit for it.

and that my friends, explains that fifa is a franchise. Besides, if FIFA made their games perfect, then it would get boring anyways, since you can't edit and it would just get repetive.
rado907 18-10-2003, 11:16:AM No.
You see, we shouldn't want better fifa every year when the improval is as follows "horrible, crappy, bad, almost playable, average, etc".
No.
What we should want is for EA to sit tight for more than year and make a good game.
As long as we buy the crap EA sells each year though we will always just get more crap next year.
Please consider this very valid viewpoint as well.
Oz_Leeds_Fan 18-10-2003, 11:23:AM To label the game as crap is harsh in the extreme. In your opinion it may not be as good as your beloved konomi games but in plenty of other opinions it is a great release and a big step forward. If you think its crap, dont buy it.
I dont see why you people are getting so cranky over this, no one is forcing you to buy FIFA and you have already come on here spouting the glories of your WE and ISS so stick to them if your not happy with FIFA.
Leave us to enjoying our game and we will leave you to enjoying yours.
TristanAbbott7 18-10-2003, 02:32:PM I agree that comments like "FIFA 2004 sucks" are a waste of time. I don't like the game much from the demo despite playing about 30 games but I do think it's EA's best effort yet. To me there are a lot of unaddressed issues with the game but there are also a lot of plus points too. I don't like the shooting model and the physics of the ball but the graphics are outstanding and the depth of the game will be a great attraction for many people.
I do prefer the PES/WE series but to say FIFA 2004 is utter crap isn't accurate. It's a shame it takes somebody else on this forum a couple of days to improve on the gameplay aspect and no doubt the editors will be out in force throughout the next 12 months. If there's one thing I've learnt over the years from soccer games it's that you'll never please everybody with any product so you just have to have a preference and wait until the next batch of titles come out before you start all over again.
FIFA 2004 is a long way behind PES3 in terms of gameplay but obviously way, way ahead in terms of licensing, authentic uniforms and leagues etc. and I respect that to many people that's important to them. I for one, won't be coming on this forum bashing FIFA 2004 anymore because I feel it's disrespectful to you guys who love the game. I'll save the bashing for the forums where it's appropriate.
luka911 18-10-2003, 02:57:PM .For the good of the company they must never be perfect. For example if FIFA 98 was perfect, why should you buy FIFA 99.Better graphics and updated rosters are no big reasons.Patch makers would have made the latter. As for graphics you would wait for FIFA 2003.But then EA would have less income. That's why FIFA series is not perfect. Also don't forget that simulating real life situations is not an easy task.Hopefully every year FIFA is getting better.I never said it's perfect.
hmmm....pes are just about perfect. they seem to be doing great. they have sold a million copies or more with pes3.
they add a few new things every year and people keep coming back to get there hands on pes. fifa keeps coming with better graphics.....more teams.......more songs.......grrrrr.....that anoys me so much. when will they come with better player animations or gameplay as good as pes?
pes might not have graphics as good as fifa but there animations and game play beat fifa out in everyway. i had more fun playing iss3 for ps2 then playing all the fifa's inluding fifa 2004 demo. iss3 is considerd to be more of an arcade soccer game and it beat fifa in my mind. unscripted gameplay is the best. i think they should give up and just steal pes gameplay......lol would save them allot of time that goes no where.
PhiLLer 18-10-2003, 03:23:PM It's surprising how many people are still blinded by EA's marketing tactics. "Oh, we got licenses and good commentary". All very true of course, yet what they don't tell you is that year after year they put below par effort into their FIFA games. Look at all the other EA Sports titles. NHL, Madden, NBA, those are all fantastic games and even though I'm not into those American sports I can see why they are good.
Now take a look at FIFA. Ok, 2004 has been an improvement I must say that but look at the many errors in the game. No dynamic weather because of time contraints, the goal nets act like walls, the ball whizzes at 300 mph. Remember people, you may like FIFA but don't go about supporting the game as if you are the producer of the game, or being paid because in all honesty EA doesn't give a crap of what you really say or don't say, or think. They make a game, get their paycheck and know very well that millions will go out and buy their game regardless.
Hopefully Konami will push EA for some decent competition when they release PES3 for PC in November. It may not have the licenses but on the PC it will be editable and therefor I reckon it will do very well.
Oz_Leeds_Fan 18-10-2003, 03:40:PM Im all for healthy competition and given the obvious support the Konomi games have then EA appear to have a bonified rival on their hands. But your objections, and those of many here are not really very serious ones. You can do a lot with the game play and its pretty open really. If superficial things like ball speed and net firmness are still featuring as a main problem for those who dislike the game then i think FIFA have done well.
cddssgl 18-10-2003, 04:33:PM I think the improvement of FIFA series every year is what I'm longing for.I also think a game is just for fun, so the most important is that the game bring us happiness, but not how real the game is,if a game can't give you happiness and appeal to you, no matter how real it is,to some extend, it's not a good game
adj137 18-10-2003, 06:27:PM ok, there never going to make a perfect game.whichll apeal to all types of player
thats understandable,
what isnt is the hype they generate each saying how this is sooooo much better than the last.and that it will appease ALL the unhappy gamers.thats Bull
the demo is good, but there;s no way it can live up to the hype from EA
nickclubman 18-10-2003, 06:31:PM I liked 2003 gameplay, the way it played. But it was way too easy and had a lot of bugs.
2004 builds upon this and I am really starting to enjoy it! :D

Personally, if he runs like Beck, kicks like Beck, moves like Beck, thinks like Beck, then he truly IS Beck even if the graphics made him look like he belongs in Night of the Living Dead rather than a football pitch.
On the other hand, an virtual clone of Beck that could'nt kick, run nor dribble is worth sh*t to me.
That's authenticity baby!
luka911 19-10-2003, 04:18:AM lots of ea sports games have realism in the game but they allways seem to add more to it. they want that arcade feel all the time. if fifa was pure soccer sim. it would probably be to hard and anoying for allot of there buyers. most of there buyers are happy with shooting rocket shots. why change it?
it's all about what will make them the most money. they might be going down the right road. giving what realistic sim soccer fans want.....but they wont do this in one year. they could do it. but they wont. think about it.
every year they add something dif. they have thousands of people in forums like this going on and on about wow! i bet this year will be great. adding a few dif things every year get's people thinkin. most of those people will buy the game.
then they get people saying it's going to suck just like last year. you know what's funny.....allot of the people who trash talk fifa end up buying the game. lol
that right there shows you that fifa will allways come out winning.
doing what pes does is risky. having the best game play right away might loose them money. fifa need's to add something big and new every year. game play is allways added to that list every year....but it's never like you wish it would be. they say new improved game play or some sh*t. the game play might change a bit but it's never amazing.
it's like a video game system. if they wanted....they could make the most amazing system that would blow you away. they wont do that because they make more money taking it slow. where every few years they make a new system. it's all about money in the end for most companys.

Like Wolf said....everyone search what they think is good for them. I have played WE7 and i know that its gameplay kicks ass so hard....and i know how funny it is because a friend of mine have it and we play the game like crazy.
Last year with fifa, i was dissapointed because i had the uniforms the faces , the stadiums..but we didnt had gameplay. WE had gameplay....just excellent...but what about the graphics so guly..and those weird names...and all the players with the same face..and the japanese dudes talking nonsense and those ultra porno-gay celebrations. I mean... the gameplay do a goo job covering all those fouls...but i wanted more realism in terms of graphics and so on. Ok, i know that there are patch for it...but console games are not patchable..and to find rare games like "WE6 Wedoit patch" is not that easy. The game was overall better than fifa.
This year i was very exited about the new gameplay of fifa...and i just wanted something near to WE...and that with the graphics would be just perfect for me. I really dont care if the gameplay is not near to WE,as far as it is enjoyable.
This year in FIFA the gameplay is MUCH more enjoyable... and combining it with real players and attributes..and licenses and new features...it is more attractive FOR ME.
The gameplay could be not perfect and in fact it have some flaws...but with all the other things...it make a balance. Are you people geting my point??
Is Just question of tastes and thats all.

djperthglory 19-10-2003, 06:01:AM guys take it from me ive been buying fifa games since 1998 and fifa 2004 just blew me away. i mean the graphics, the game play. for example the decisions on how corners and free kicks are to be taken. and the penalty box movements while a corner is taken. i love what ea have done. although ive never played PES or WE but i love the fifa series it just gets better and better.

Well said pal.
LucianoJJ 19-10-2003, 11:25:PM The graphics improve every year. The gameplay improves and progresses every year. It will never be perfect. Only going to the games in person is the REAL thing and even the real players and coaches screw up, right? As flawed as each version seems, why not go back and install the previous years game. Does it look better and play better than a few years ago? Yes.
One of the best things about FIFA is all the work that all of the patchers from around the world. It is great that fans worldwide love the game so much that they would do patches including their favorite leagues, teams, players faces, kits, gameplay, etc. This makes it better for all of us. Special thanks to Leo, Sameer, Breemster and many others for this. You can't really do this with any of the other EA games. It has bugs and flaws, for sure, but its still fun.
