View Full Version : FIFA 2004 controls - send your tips here
wlashack 17-10-2003, 08:10:PM hi! i have found that FIFA2004 demo has a lot of hidden features and to play this game well it is necessarry to solve them all. so here i have started a thread to collect everything controls and game tips related. please stay in topic and post tips only. thanks.
my first tips:
with the ball press PASS (A) key and then PLAYER RUN (Q) key immedeately. the player that maked the pass will run forward quickly so you are able to get him into the free position.
while defending the corner kick, hold the Q key and move the direction keys towards the player you are to defend. players will jostle.
hold down the C + Z keys and use arrow keys to change strategy.
holding down the C key while controlling the ball will make players move slower and you can then press Shift + Arrows to dribble the ball various ways.
so come on, lets reveal the controlling secrets of this game.
lukas_svoboda 17-10-2003, 09:46:PM If your keeper holds the ball in his hands, you can press either A or D to kick it long away, or press S to throw the ball to the nearest player. So far I haven't doscovered how to drop the ball while holding it in keepers hands...
C - slow walk
D+C - near-to-ground shot
w+D - header
Heli15 17-10-2003, 11:54:PM i think when you have the ball in your hands with your keeper you cant drop the ball :(
akyo77 18-10-2003, 02:19:PM thanks, wlashack.
I tried the trick press Q after pass
and I found it i can make a nice 1-2 pass!
first, i press C to slow down the player.
And i press S pass to player beside and then press Q immediately.
The player just sprint to free space after passing.
And then I press W to through pass back to player..
Very Nice 1-2 pass! although i can't make it the ball into the net after the action~
King Cantona The 7th 18-10-2003, 08:52:PM HEY GUYS LETS MAKE THIS DAMN THREAD STICKY!
Y THE HELL OPEN 100 TIP THREADS???:kader: :kader: :kader: :kader: :kader: :kader:
wlashack 18-10-2003, 10:04:PM but i do not have rights to stick this thread. i also want to have one thread devoted to FIFA controls. but the solution is out of my rights.
to stay on topic - here is another tip i have discovered - there is a possibility to chabge strategies on the fly. to activate them, press and hold C + Z and then use up + down and left + right arrows to choose from. you can select defensive, attacking and formations strategies.
wlashack 18-10-2003, 10:07:PM and another one - pressing (and holding) W key you charge your goalie to run aout of the goal towards the attacker. use this FREQUENTLY to avoid scoring.
and familiarize yourself with dribbling. while in a "walking" mode (not necessary) try to use Shift + arrows combinations to dribble the ball various ways. can make a lot of tricky things this way.
King Cantona The 7th 19-10-2003, 03:10:AM can someone tell me what exact combination duz what?
::..Federico Debla..:: 19-10-2003, 06:23:AM There are SO MANY combinations. Try to figure them out yourself ;)
See ya!
keep the tips coming guys, Me and Yash will add as many as possible into a nice guide.
the first one we (Me and Iceblu - Yash) released was a tad short, but this one will be much longer and comprehensive (H)
lordbc 19-10-2003, 01:15:PM Question:
1. Why does the freestyle moves and tricks (press shift while running[E] and while walking[C])doesnt trick the opponent's defenders often?Must there be a correct timing to do these moves?
2. Please give tips on how to take a corner kick and explain in detail about the different corner modes.
3. What button coresponds to the 123 above a player's head when taking a corner?
4. The correct timing to jump when fighting for a header?
~Please Help!~:crazyboy:
wlashack 19-10-2003, 08:26:PM ad 1) yes, i think there must be a good timing. several times i made a great trick where the timing played an important part.
ad 2) so far i have solved only this: D=plr1, A=plr2, W=plr3. so these are the keys to select which plyaer to control after corner is kicked. but what EXACTLY mean the corner kick menu options i cannot reveal. i think this has something to do with the spot placment but it is only my thought. the spot appears almost at the same point whatever option i choose so this is a mystery for me so far.
ad3) answered in 2
ad 4) still mystery for me.
and one question: has someone solved some double-taps and similar features in FIFA controls?
lordbc 19-10-2003, 10:23:PM Thanks wlashack!:D (H) :rockman:

I@n S 22-10-2003, 12:07:PM Guys: Could you tell us some tips for using the Micro$oft Sidewinder?
I'd like to do a volley.. but what the hell is the walk button? (on the sidewinder?)
Green Fan 23-10-2003, 05:14:PM I'm using a Logitech Rumblepad. Which button is Q? Are yoy all using a Keyboard to play? Some help for us too!!!!
Aquadark 24-10-2003, 12:41:AM Not exactly a tip, but...
In the beginning, I was pressing Q and then S to pass the ball to the players on the wings. But doing this, the player, who is about to receive the ball, will stop, turn around (180 degrees) and get the ball while standing at one place. So for bigger success pass with W (after pressing Q). Doing this, the player, who is about to receive the ball, will not stop his run (and get the ball while running forward) and you'll be quickly able to gain more free space.
As I already mentioned, this is not exactly a tip, but you'd be surprised how many ppl keep using Q in combination with S, instead of W, because it's quicker. And while pretty often you really don't have the time needed to hold W in order to produce nice through pass, you can just slow-down with C and take your time.
