View Full Version : Cristiano Ronald against Leeds ???
CALIMERO 19-10-2003, 04:38:PM How does he plays ???? did he perform well ?.
I'm waiting for you all, English friends, to tell all details about that wonderful young lad from Madeira Isçlanad - my land of birth aswell my parents- be nice and gimme good stuff about the kiddo...:jambo:
Oz_Leeds_Fan 19-10-2003, 04:55:PM I feel he is trying too hard. His over theatrical reactions to contact will not make him popular and are not very helpfull to his team, something that is quite evident he wants to be.
He has great feet skills but defenders in the epl will get the measure of that soon enough. He needs to concentrate on the final ball and finishing, its all very well to leave a defender on his arse but if you cant deliver an accurate cross then all the previous work is pointless. That said he had a decent game against us and he is visably improving
mhflierman 19-10-2003, 05:03:PM He's ok, and doing alright. It must be hard for an 18yr old playing in a country that's cold, rainy and doesn't understand your maiden language. He's got a lot of credit with Ferguson, and Ferguson will make sure Ronaldo will develop the same way Giggs did. It's just too bad that some "fans" don't want to see that he needs time to become truely great for ManUtd.
Everytime I see him playing I've got that feeling that he's like an overexcited young pony, dartling around and falling down. For now my tip for him is to stop going down that easily, it is part of his playing style, because he's a fragile kid and dartling player, but it won't increase his fanbase. But he'll get there, no doubt about it.
::shinji:: 19-10-2003, 06:04:PM he's young, he going to make silly mistakes and like mhflierman says, he just tries too overexited sometimes....but, he'll change with experience. I remember I used to say the same about Figo early on in his career, and look at his career now..
hehe, I still remember seeing a young Figo come on as a sub against Malta back in 93 I beleive, and thinking "why does this idiot make it to the NT now, all he tries to do is dribble by everyone then loses the ball!!"
Fernandez 19-10-2003, 07:02:PM he is learning not to dive after keano screamed at him to get out.... something which is not done by the captain of the ------ when a certain number 7 dives... keano is probably the most honest you can get.... ronaldo is the one for the future.. and his set-pieces almost earned him 2 assists if they were converted...
Jimbob 19-10-2003, 07:08:PM Hes a cracking little player....Just needs to not dive so much..
Digitarius 19-10-2003, 07:33:PM I totally agree with the fact that he goes down too often, too easily. While this might be an accepted rule in continental Europe, this is frowned upon in the Premiership. He needs to get stronger on his feet and stop looking for the referee.
His final ball needs a lot of work and he needs to improve his vision as well.
Frostwolf 19-10-2003, 07:42:PM There's no doubting the boy's technical ability, he just needs to work on his body strength.

*looks at fifafanv1's sig*
course, WHY wouldn't he be the one for the future hmm?
::shinji:: 19-10-2003, 07:45:PM His diving comes from the fact that he came from the Portuguese Super Liga where the referees are always more than willing to whistle anything that remotely even looks like it could possibly be a foul. Diving is not an accepted rule or encouraged (unlike many of you sooo highly honourable UKers seem to think), but sub-par officiating makes it too easy and many players start picking up this bad habit early on, unfortunatly...
Ferguson just needs to punish him by sitting him on the bench or even send him to the reserves for a couple games whenever he tries to play-act....he'll get the message.

Why cannot Ferguson send him to Marítimo Madeira for the rest of the season...maybe with him we could kick Oporto's arse:D :D
He is very quick, but he does dive quite a bit
but i bet Fergie will tell him to quit
eddy_87 19-10-2003, 07:51:PM he played so good........:rockman:
don't say anything...its true...its true.......:)
Fernandez 19-10-2003, 08:11:PM fergie has many ways to deal with people
INFESTA 19-10-2003, 11:19:PM I see he learned the obscure ways of the diving force in Sporting Lisbon, with his great master - João 'Obi Wan' Pinto. :dragan: :monkey: :gavin: :lui: :fluffy:
Jambo Den 19-10-2003, 11:40:PM Not as good as Fletch. :)
Sorry but although he has fantastic ball control I don't quite see how he is an effective team player, for me he is a "fans' favourite" player where they'll try and do some nice tippy tappy touches out on the line...
Then again, if I knew better I'd be managing a side. :p
champdave 20-10-2003, 12:29:AM I think his diving has come from the Portugese league and it will be stamped out of him in a couple of years time.
Still I'm thinking I'm glad we got Le Tallec as can you imagine a front three of FSP with ALT and CR supporting?
He looks a great talent, but whats with those things round his ankles? :crazyboy:
Jedi Mind Trick 20-10-2003, 12:59:AM a very young player, who is getting accustomed to being a regular in a major league. still needs a lot of fine tuning, but has the technical skills. like i said, he still needs a lot of fine tuning and has loads of potential. and he does need to fill up a little and build up some strength.
Ali the master 20-10-2003, 04:22:AM hes got talent, impressed us all against bolton, he also scraped the post against leeds, but he does need to improve, hopfully he'll have a giggsy talent;)
