Well, after playing every single Fifa game from 94 till 2003 I felt like EA totally ripped us off (never bought one of them but played them all), evey single previous Fifa was unrealistic, with pathetic "gameplay" and silly AI, so I decided to move onto PES/WE which totally destoryed Fifa in every aspect.
Then I found out about Fifa 2004, and I as always said "better stay away from that ****" .... and soon enough the demo came out which made me look diffrently at EA, they truley did an amazing job with Fifa 2004, the graphics, AI, gameplay, tricks, physics and the atmoshphere are as real as it it gets.
Anyways, after playing Fifa 2004 for more then 1 week I must say, Fifa 2004 blows PES 3 right out of the water, actually PES looks kinda redicilous next to Fifa 2004, everything in Fifa 2004 surpasses PES 3 by a mile (I know because I played the demo!).
I really cannot wait to buy my 1st Fifa game, since I never bought one since they were all gay and pathetic, Im going to buy Fifa 2004 because it is the BEST and the ONLY soccer game out there.

About the gameplay, Ill just say it short and sweet, in Fifa 2003 I won every game 8-0, 6-1, 8-4 on pro and world class level, in Fifa 2004 took me a little time to get used to it but latley I won almost all of my amature games by 1-2-3 goal diffrences, on pro level IT IS totally diffrent, I lost some games by 1-2-3 goals, most ended in draws like 1-1,2-2 and even 3-3, I also won few times by 1-2-3 goals, which is amazing, the atmosphere and the gameplay was sooo fantastic, so intense, so real, I couldnt believe I was so excited about beating a pro AI in normal result like 1-0 or 2-1, or score an very late 90th minute equlizer, or be ahead like by 1-0 and 89th minute recive a goal that pissed you off but yet was realistic :)

The game runs very smooth at 1280x1200 4xAntiA and 4xAF, the fps never go below 90! amazing.

VERY WELL DONE JOB EA!!!!!

what i realised is, in 2003 the gameplay was super super fast and it was unrealistic, but in 2004, u need to MAKE it fast, u need to make ur plays fast, it's not fast originally but u can do fast passing and plays to manually make it fast. play in fastest mode for a while and u'll see what i mean.

In fact im puzzled about how you can write its a mile better than PES3 in all aspects, just judging from the demo. Personally I thought the demo felt very un-fluid and especially the control was lacking a lot.

do you see the bad shooting animations?

do you notice the computer players using the same tactics?

same style of goals?

do you notice how the computer players get as close as they can before they take a blast?

do you notice how fast the ball goes?

do you notice how amazing the keepers are?

if fifa was amazing do you think there would be gameplay patches made?....of course not.

i played on the hardest level with fifa and the computer would never shoot long blasts. they would never chip the keeper.
the only time they cross is when you force them to do it.
the keeper never came out to challenge. how retarted is that.

if you think that is what soccer is like then you must be on some sort of drug man.

it's sad we have to download patches to make the game better.

I will take ISS on playstation over Fifa 2004 any day. yeah man same here.

I played PES and it feels far more realistic than any version of Fifa. 2004 is an improvement on 2003 but the AI does not vary its play at all when attacking. I would be extemely worried if this was so in the full version.

FIFA 2004 is good, great on EA's behalf concerning the many previous notorious titles.

But there's just some more improvements required to actually call it excellent. It's a bit too early to say it's realistic and right on. The improved points, we all know. But for the downside,

- As someone mentioned above, the ball physics ain't there yet.

- The cpu AI is monotone at best (hope this is just the demo).

- The defense AI has problems (this, I don't see being fixed for the final).

- Goalie has problems

etc...

To say one game is better than other, you need better explanations to back up your opinion. Just saying you played the demo for both doesn't tell us anything.

Again, we need constructive criticism.. :)

I never saw any bad animations, all of them are fine.

Nope, they dont, the AI attacks from center, and wings, and score goals from headers, volleys, corners and sometimes center.

The keepers are not amazing, they also make mistakes, .... I had a keep come out once too early and I lobbed the ball and scored.

I played PES 3 demo bunch of times, and everytime I play it I laugh at it more and more, it feels like a cheap cartoon game, doesnt even feel realistic.

On the other hand, Fifa 2004 is as real as it gets, I played it for the past 2 weeks non-stop, and it keeps amazing me.

I'd like everyone to not take Skylines comments for granted. Some of them may be true, i dont know - i havent played the final version of Fifa2004. But just the fact that pretty much everyone here on the board (who has played the demo of Fifa2004) has SOME negative things to say about the game. Skyline has none at all.

Also his comments on PES3, which i know for a fact is not true as im playing PES3 myself these days too.

And especially after reading another thread in the FIFA2004 forum, where his real football knowledge is clearly lacking and his low age has clearly had an effect on his comments.

Im not bashing Fifa2004 as I've only played the demo. Im simply letting ppl know not to get their hopes up after reading Skylines comments, which is clearly too pro-fifa (EA hired him?) :)

The bottom line is Fifa 2004 is a fantastic game, and the final version will be ever better.

I agree with your first post, it was good.

However, as a longtime FIFA fan, I can admit that PES3 is still better than FIFA, PES3 is the best football game out there to this day - but it doesn't mean I'll be playing it, my heart is with FIFA.

But I've invested in my copy of FIFA because I love it and I want it so bad, and EA are doing something right, to say PES3 cannot even hang with FIFA 2004 is a bit bias, hell I might even end up with both games for PC.

Next year could be the year EA claim victory, and I'm more than happy to wait.

Its not like I wanna start a flame war about Fifa vs PES, but some people just cant let it go, they cant accept the fact that Fifa 2004 is better then PES 3, which is sad, I used to be a PES fan alot more then Fifa, but after playing Fifa 2004 I have to say Im very impressed and Im converting into Fifa since it has better everything over PES 3 (I PLAYED THE DEMO).
In my personal view, as a die hard PES fan (before Fifa 2004), PES got outplayed by Fifa 2004.

Fifa 2004 is alot more realistic, alot better graphics, alot more moves, LICENSED teams/players/competitions and really fun gameplay, and quite frankly alot better AI.

Both are decent soccer sims, and both have their strong points, and both have room for improvement.

Unless you work for EA or Konami, it's not a competition. Besides, the competition between these two is good for gamers... they get 2 games. And the games are likely of higher quality than if there was just one company making one sim.

Personally I will buy both and enjoy both. Just for the love of football/soccer.

lol.....the shooting in fifa is so ugly man. i cant believe you dont notice it. it's so easy to do tricky goals in fifa. like a chest to volley. i scored a chest to volley then score another right after it. it was so amazing!!!! it's sweet in pes cause you cant do it all the time. so when you do pull it off it makes it more amazing.

you must of had a patch installed man. they never shoot long blasts. in pes it's like the computer has a mind of it's own. i love that feeling.

i do admit fifa is getting better. i just hope the gameplay and shooting animations are allot better in the pes2 version.

For real ; who cares if someone likes fifa 2004 better than PES3 or viceversa its not going to stop us from playing them; i for one think fifa 2004 is better that PES3; because PES3 the only thing that has to offer is gameplay an gameplay is importing but not everything; EA finally polish something good; we have great gameplay, FIFA rights ( very importing ), excellent graphics, and very easy manage for patches and sh*t; its all about options; and you go with the option that has more and better thing to offer its simply as that.

FIFA 2004 still is not in the same level as WE7 gameplay....but it has improved A LOT. And to add all the things that you said...you forgot the ONline gameplay...and this feature alone is a BIG threat agains WE.

So, this year with a more than enjoyable gameplay and licenses, i think that the battle between both companies will be very tough...and just think about if the gameplay gets much beter in 2005:o
