fifafan2004 23-10-2003, 08:12:PM hi everyone here is a quik review on my thought of fifa 2004 .
i went into gamestation today and saw fifa 2004 and i thought o yes finally so i grabbed the controller and picked my team blackburn vs chelsea there where so MANYYYY teams, and i entered the game and the graphics where very good and too my suprise and everyone elses the ps2 version(on top telly) looked a bit sharper detailed than the xbox version (bottom telly) in terms of colours and textures , that dazzled me but it was true.NOW onto the game the gameplay is sooooooooo much better its amazing and u can do one two passes and skills lots of them, like shimmy round a player to avoid a tackle superb, and the shooting system was very good aswelland the ball phsics acted like a real ball.I Also tryed the carreer mode and that was filled with qaulity objectives physical training and transfers negotiations,it was well good.

don't wanna look like the 'knowing it all' guy, but...I told it!! hehehehe...I knew PS2 version would be so much better than in any other one and PC's one.
congratulations, EA...true footy fans will play FIFA...now, let's admit folks...it's been a loooooooooong time since FIFA didn't get so much good reviews from 'desbelieving' fans isn't it??? goooood...
jumbo 23-10-2003, 08:33:PM Where can i see some movies of the ps2 version besides ign and ea.com ?
I'm still not too convinced...
fifafan2004 23-10-2003, 08:36:PM i know i was a bit dazzled becouse i though the grapghics would be better on xbox but NO its better on ps2
ALSO who thinks the jostling routine is good to the series
it seemed excellant when i played it.
NerazZurRo 23-10-2003, 08:37:PM and have you noticed how the PES fans (in the PES forums) started getting abusive and stuff while in the past they were "constructive and mature"?
they finally realized PES got its ass kicked.
fifafan2004 23-10-2003, 08:40:PM exactly becouse i was a pes fan untill i plaed fifa 2004 and know its pissing all over it ahhh

NickPVFC 23-10-2003, 10:18:PM Personally I think the Xbox version looks better than the PS2 version, but each to his own I suppose.

You guys are unbelievably stupid. Go and read ANY magazine or online review and then tell me that PES got its arse kicked. You cannot argue with the fact that EVERY REVIEW THERE IS says PES3 is the best football game ever

i rest my case.
anyways... well i don't trust magazine reviews anymore coz i'm sure they're the same reviewers who gave FIFA 99 a 96% rating if i recall correctly.
nickclubman 23-10-2003, 11:08:PM I don't know how the PS2 can look better then the Xbox, there is quite a difference in power and graphics performance between the two!
But I guess I'm only looking at facts between the hardware. :crazyboy:

Don't try and be clever. Yes that was a bit abusive, but it's not because I "realise PES got is arse kicked". It's because I'm intolerant of stupidity.
And what, you don't trust ANY magazine or online reviews at all? For the reason you gave? OK then, if you like. Good reasoning
jumbo 23-10-2003, 11:23:PM shut the **** up already

hmm as both games aren't released for PC yet i couldn't find any online reviews... i'd appreciate it if you post links to any online (PC) reviews for both games...
i can't see why a game with much less teams, faces, kits, sounds, music, commentary etc... would require 3 Gb of hard-disk space and it won't even run properly on a GeForce 4 Mx card (not saying that my gfx card is top end but i run most of my games on it smoothly on the highest level of detail and 1024 768 resolution)
Stocksy 23-10-2003, 11:48:PM PES3 has pages upon pages of statistics rated from 1-99 for each player before considering their morale, match fitness and overall fatigue. If you people would continue playing PES3 until the time when you grow up you'll notice that each individual player has his own sort of personality and individual skill, the game engine is far superior to that of the FIFA2004 one and the animations in PES now make the game look and feel a lot better than FIFA. FIFA may look good when you pause the game but while running it looks scripted and piss.
Back to the point, because of this intricate system for each player in PES it is possible to build teams just like in real football and in this day and age is the most accurate interpretation of how a real game is played. So if you want a football simulation buy PES and if you want to remain a mindless child for the rest of your lives stick with FIFA.

I played PES 3 and didn't see any career mode...
twisted karma 23-10-2003, 11:58:PM Don't think there are any PC reviews yet, however go to this site:
http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/ps2/fifasoccer2004/
They are excellent because they collect all the reviews for each game. FIFA so far has got scores of 80 and 85 (which isn't bad).
PES3 has scores of 90, 90, 90, 96, 100 and 100 (average of 94)

fifafan2004 24-10-2003, 12:03:AM ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh MY GODDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD how can u say pes3 has more statistics than FIFA, FIFA is all about statistics it has every statistics for every player(speed, flair, passing etc...)there personality and playing style there AI is for individual players, which work as a team full of tactics and playing stles to perform the perfect team DONT GO THERE !!!!!!!!!
ans fifa has morale in career mode
and each player does not have there own skill its the same for every player.
fifafan2004 24-10-2003, 12:08:AM on pes3
twisted karma 24-10-2003, 12:16:AM Pro Evo has more than 30 separate stats, definitely more than FIFA. I particularly like the new one for how good they player is with his weak foot.
Still reckon you're a computer games journalist FIFA Fan?
francis81 24-10-2003, 12:41:AM - Can you attach some xbox screenshots ?, especially showing the practice mode , the training stadiums and some matches between latin american teams.

DiSmithio 24-10-2003, 02:45:AM god u pro evo fans are such twats*, why dont you go to a forum and speak about ur game there as were not interested in it here. we wanna buy FIFA, u dont, leave it at that n fu*k off
DiSmithio 24-10-2003, 02:54:AM having played pro evo 3 for a cuple dyas, i thought the game was ok, cuidda got better with more plays, but i got pissed off with the stupid ass team names, and ridiculous commentary, aswell as awful referee AI. its a good game, but im buying fifa, cosm im a fifa fan, so pro evo fans why dont u get out of the FIFA FORUM cos in dont understand why ur here?
Um...isnt this thread in the PES/WE/ISS vs FIFA forum? *looks at the navigation header* - oh yes it is :)
How often did we sum up the difference between FIFA-fans and PES fans
FIFA-fans: Love arcade-like football game with players with Liscened kits. Hope to trash the CPU with a lot of goals difference. They are not very critical about strategy.
PES-fans:
Primary hardcore football-fans who are very demanding about the real moves like 1-2's, setting strategies and tactics.
They are disappointed if the game is not exciting enough; they love close matches. They also do really train on the training pitch ;)
A bit jealous about FIFA's liscencing but they don't find that too big deal, else they would have been FIFA-fans :D
In short: FIFA-players love arcade footbal and PES-players love a football-simutalion :)

U R NOT fair here. if u read fifa forums here in soccergaming u understand that this isnt the case.
and btw: pes2 wasnt an arcade game?? end to end hectic action!u could dribble all of your opossition defence like they r ghosts.

Whats wrong with end to end hectic action? last week Chel vs Ars was "end to end hectic action". Now, whats wrong with that?
Arcadey=pickup-and-play, shallow learning curve, predictable and repetetive AI, simplistic physics and mechanics.
Simulation=opposite of the above
FIFA(traditionally)=Arcadey

the wrong is that only a few matches play like that...u know not every nation can play like english do.and even in premier league only few games have such a fast pace.

Well, its not like you're forced to play that way there's many styles you can play the game.
But just to put this matters to rest, PES2 was "tweaked" so that its easier to dribble around defence than previous games. This was admitted by Seabass in an interview, and many hardcore WE/PES fan were not really pleased with the biased gameplay. This was later rectified in WE6:FE and now WE7 looks like it doesnt suffer from that problem too.
But that doesnt mean that PES is arcadey. Its the deepest football game ever created.

I guess with all the converts from FIFA we've been attracting lately, we've started to pick up on their bad habits
No offence to recent converts:D

man united forever 24-10-2003, 03:58:PM I used to be a FIFA fan until 2001 - so i still know the basics :p
I'm only kidding - it's good for the industry as a whole if FIFA comes up with a good game. Keeps both EA and Konami on their toes, and even the most hardcore FIFA fanboy would admit that a large part of FIFA's recent improvement is a result of PES's growing popularity. Remember from FIFA 99 - 2002 they kept producing the same crap, purely because idiots like me were buying the game to play as their favourite teams and record 16-0 victories. I sincerely hope they'll solve that problem, and if FIFA is indeed a better football SIMULATION than PES, i'm back over to the other side quicker than you can say "Look at that Indian boy go". I am a consumer after all, and I'm not going to get all sentimental and 'support' a game. If it's the best - buy it.
