What tactics do you use in CM?

Neutral 21-04-2000, 03:53:PM It depends on what the other team is playing: I like to play a 4-4-2 Attacking with pressing, and short passing, and my two central defenders marking the opposition's two forwards, and one of my two forwards with 'holding' (the one with the greater strength rating) so he can hold up the ball and create chances for the other striker. Then if i'm leading with about 15-10 minutes to go, I set my two wingers to zonal marking and basically sit tight till the end of the game. However, this mainly works against other teams that play any 442 variation (including 442 diamond) It gets more complicated when you play teams that use that RETARDED 'Defensive Counter' formation that many computer teams in Europe like - I think it's a 4-3-2-1 formation with a defensive counter and offside trap - this is a bitch to play against (provided the other team is good), what I like to do is to play a 4-5-1 and flood the midfield, I've tried to play a 1-4-3-2 (with a sweeper picking up the opposition's middle striker) but it doesn't work that well for me, with a 4-5-1, I set all players to zonal marking except the outside two wingers, and I put my strongest striker with greatest work rate upfront by himself, with 'holding' and I play direct passing - it seems to work and it holds the other team at bay by clogging up the midfield. Another tactic I like to use against 'Defensive Counter' is a 4-1-3-1-1, it sounds weird but it's four at the back, a defensive mid, 3 midfielders (the middle one has to be AMAZING (for me Joe Cole, Kim Kallstrom or Tonton Moukoko), an attacking midfielder who will work his socks off and a strong forward (all HARD TACKLING, short passing, and pressing)- I've started using this recently in the Champions League and I've done quite well (I beat Inter 1-0 in Milan, and 3-0 at home), but unlike 4-5-1 this formation leaves you more prone to attacks and more shots on net, but it's more offensive minded. Hope this helps, and let me know how u do. |
