After reading all the suggestions in various forum and trying every different combination of settings the demo is still running in slow motion on my PC. I just cannot afford to spend more money on upgrading my graphics card again.

I love the game but am going to cancel my pre-order and stick with my WE7 on PS2 instead.

I think my problem is to do with the Graphics card I have got - Nivida Geforce4 MX 420.

My PC is a Pentinum 4 2.4 GHz with 256 RAM so should not have any problems.

I have no problems with the FIFA2004 demo but I wanted to play PES3 though.

I've also tried a lot, and I've just gone back to WE7 on my PS2.
My PC at home is a bit old, I have no plans on buying a new one, since I had blown a bit of money to get my current PC 4 years ago.
The PC in my office is 1.7 Ghz, with nvidia geforce2, I tried turning off anti-aliasing, etc...and it's ok, but with slowdown when there are too many players on the screen.

I have to try the window mode before giving up.

But it's a crying shame, when a crappy game like FIFA demo can play without any problems on my old Win98 800mhz PC.
But PES3 has terrible slowdowns.

Konami have shot themselves in the foot with this one. I can't but imagine how many potential buyers they would have lost with this slowdown thing.

I have turned off anti aliasing, set v-sync off, set sound acceleration to basic, downloaded latest NIVIDA driver and Direct 9.

I have also closed IE6 and Norton System Works before playing the game but it is still in slow motion!!

Lawrence, try it at 800x600 at set the refresh rate at 85hz, or the highest rate your monitor can handle ( I've got a Geforce 4400ti, and I do this by right clicking on desktop/properties/settings/advanced/Geforce. Then there's a tab to manually set refresh rates).
I got slo mo at 1024x768, and doing this certainly helped me.
Good luck...

I have pretty much same specs as you

P 4 1.8
512 DDR ram
Geforce 4 440 mx

Mine was very slow too, but now it runs pretty smooth.

Goto Pro evoultion setting pus it on low res and 640 x 480
and taking of V-Sync

works well for me

For NVIDIA card users having problems, this may possibly help:

NVIDIA today released its new NVIDIA ForceWare release 50 graphics driver (which replaces replace the Detonator designation), a new Unified Driver Architecture (UDA) engineered to provide unmatched performance and image quality on both DirectX 9.0 and OpenGL applications. The new 52.16 release claims:

The ForceWare release 50 graphics drivers include the NVIDIA unified compiler technology that translates shader programs so that they are optimized for the NVIDIA GPU architecture, substantially improving the performance of next-generation DirectX 9.0 titles such as HalfLife 2, XIII, and more. Performance in the DirectX 9.0 application HaloPC improves by up to 58% and DirectX 9.0-based Microsoft Flight Simulator 9 improves by 33%.

Other features of the NVIDIA ForceWare release 50 graphics drivers include:

Enhanced image quality for both anisotropic filtering and antialiasing
A new NVIDIA nView 3.0 multi-display setup wizard for easy configuration of your multi-display settings
nView gridlines to section off the display to help organize your various windows
Customized user profiles to save display settings and image quality settings on a per application/game basis
A new user-friendly interface
Microsoft DirectX and OpenGL support

I started this post but I changed my mine now. I went out this morning and bought a Nivida FX 5200 card and alter all the settings as suggested in various posts. My God the game works and it is running very smoothly. In Camera Wide mode the games does slow down a bit in the penalty area but it just lasts for one or two seconds thats all. There are no problems in any other camera modes.

I know my graphics card is not the best but it is one I could just afford. It is worth paying that price because I could play the demo now. Can't wait for the full version to come out.

The extra video memory has made the difference. God knows what do we require for PES4 next year.

By the way does anyone know the difference between the leaked demo and the official demo?
