just like in real football, there are no easy tactics. Play to your teams strengths, pass it around, don't try too much, don't force everything and play it like football. It depends on your team, practice practice man !
Yep, have to agree with theCro. The best way to win (mind you its not that easy) is to pass it around and create space. Try to draw the player in front of you to help make larger gaps for your other players to work with.
It is really a game of patience at times. You cant just grab the ball and sprint, you will get tackled. I guess the more you play, the more you will discover.
Btw, this thread highlights what a competetive game PES3 is. Theres' no 5-0 or even 10-0 scorelines like the other so called soccer game.

My first Konami football game was WE6I and now I have moved on to WE7. The best advice I can give u is to try and not to go forward all the time. If u see u cant go forward anymore pass the ball backwards. Also when playin Defense dont just go in for the tackle. Try to contain and run with the attackin player. This is this best advice I can give u as I am playin in **** but it is getting much too easy fro me now.

Here's some good advice from ME!!! :
a) Pressure on Defense. If the opposing player is dribbling a lot near a few of your defenders, but you just can't get it away from here, surprise him with a L2+Shoot combo. This will make another of your players come quickly to help and usually steal the ball from him. It works wonders really.
Do not overuse it though, since then the computer can create space for other players. Be selective and it is a nice tool.
b) On Offense, you can make some space by just dribbling, but you need a great dribbler. In this game, I recommend Owen or Totti or someone like that. Especially with Owen, use of just slow dribbling and intermediate dribbling (not running), you can work your way up the field and to the box, where one or two lethal passes can finish the deal. However, like others said, with most players, the dribbling method just doesn't work.
c) Understand that the final pass is often crucial. If playing with England, try to use Beckham to make that last awesome pass if possible. He will zip it nicely and make the chances of it succeeding much higher than if a defensive midfielder or back makes the pass.

Overuse passes, and dribbles with L1 and R2.
