It seems as though there are many different opinions of what everyone believes is the same game, but in all actuality it is not.

Fifa in europe is alot better then fifa here in canada. The guy in which i buy my games from has his own EB Games store here in Canada and he was tellin me that he already had fifa 2004 and it kicked ass. But it was the english (english as in england) version. He has a PS2 from that region which allows him to only play games from that region including Fifa 04. If he was to put a game from england into a north american PS2 it would not work.

So seeing as how all of us how live in North america have a north american console we get the north american version. which when it comes to fifa really sucks.

Apparently his europian version looks, and plays better and has more options. And seeing as how soccer just ain't as big here in North america we get the so called "waterd down" version. Where as in europe they get the waterd down version of NHL or NFL cuz it's not as big there as it is here and we get the best possible version.

That's why you got to be careful when you read reviews because someone may be talkin about the game they played in europe and it may not apply to the game where you live.

Although i'm not sure if this just applies for console or if it also applies for the pc version.

I asked him if he thought it would be worth me ordering a PS2 from europe and then ordering the games for it he and he said that it would only be worth it if i was into europian sports games like soccer or cricket. but everything else your better off havin a north american version cuz the games are better here (supposedly)

Just thought i'd let you folks now what i found out today. I knew that you couldn't play a PS2 euro game in a ps2 north american console but i never thought the quality of the game was different but it apparently is.

Maybe we north americans can understand why the europian's seem to love it so much and the europian's can understand why we hate it so much.

bottom line - were gettin screwed in north amreica :hump:

Dude, i think ur wrong. I don't think there is a difference between versions with other countries but there probably is a slight difference between versions when talking about consoles everywhere. But hey i may be wrong and u may be right but i dont think there should be a difference when talking about different countries.

I think EA doesnīt make different versions of their games for Europe/America.

It doesnīt make sense. Itīs more expensive...

Why would they do that ??

The only thing they change from country to country is play-by-play. But the core of the game (gameplay, graphics, etc.) should be the same. ;)

LOL!!!!! You're a moron dude. :crazyboy: No offence.

The only difference is because of the language(if you never noticed some words in England are written differently then over here, such as tyres, and rumour, etc.).

That would mean that EA has been screwing me over since 94'. I don't believe it. Then again the thought if having a watered down version will never leave me.

There are not two different versions, the only difference is that europe get the PAL version which is not playable on consoles and tv's in the US and Japan we use ntsb it comes down to the frames PAL uses a better framerate because it uses a wider bandwidth, so we are not really getting screwed its the same version just in different formats

I bet the guy at the store said its more expensive but better.

Why is this thread still open, it's obvious that we know there are not multiple versions of the game for each console depending on the region it's released in. There was big fuss about this a while back about the Japanese edition and and the rest of Wold editions being different and that was cleared up

"watered-down" version?

I guess that explains my rusty console.

Why would there be 2 different versions, when EA's development team don't even have enough time to finish the one?

They had to take out Dynamic weather for starters. If anything the Japan version is a slightly "different" version, but only because of a Camera angle.

I think this guy is crazy lol. :crazyboy:

Is it different as in less clubs and international teams in the U.S. and that we can score a goal from half-point? or different as in language and menu, etc...
Because if the teams performances are the same, than I do not mind at all!

I thought the UK was just written in PAL format and the other in other formats.

If there two different games thats a new one on me and why would EA bother.

Think about all the A.I adjustments and stuff they would have to do.

Not likely is what i think, But possible i guess:o

everytime i buy fifa, the bottom of the box says, " Asia Pacific version, strictly no distribution in Europe, America and Japan" or something like that. I wonder why?

The only real technical difference that I can think of between the Euro version vs. the North American version is that "Football Fusion" option that coincides with TCM 2004 in Europe will probably be missing in the US and Canadian versions. Other than that it's the same game.

omg, that has to be close to the funniest thing i heard all day. the other one was about this guy that walked into a bar, right..

'if you fall for that then your as dumb as you look, because when it comes to looking stupid you wrote the book'

geez mate, you have been taken for a ride and a half there. pretty god damn funny too i must say. no difference apart from the titles and what console it will work on... oh maybe the box art will be different.

and another thing, off topic but, 'europian' sports like cricket? errm? England sure did create it but they are just about the only european team who plays it internationally, but for the dutch i think.

The same sentence is shown on DVD movies : "For distribution only in ..." and that doesnīt mean that they made a different movie for each country/continent. Do they ? ;)
