I did in fact buy this years version because the MLS teams were included. As far as I see, this is one of the few improvements from last year's version. I would wager that majority of people who bought the US version of the game prefer to have their home league in the game than the Portuguese League (where the quality of play is higher, I'm sure). I'm also sure that within a month or so, there will be patches to replace MLS with a dozen or so other foreign leagues (complete with kits). In addition, this allows the few true MLS fans that exist the luxury of having DC United play teams like Man U and others. It will be many years before it happens in real life, so this is the best we get for now.
Besides, if MLS is "rubbish" then how come the EPL is bringing in some of their players (i.e. Joe Max Moore and Stern John).
In addition, I do consider myself sane. Thanks for asking.
MLS is the worst ever league yuckkkkk

I would venture to say that the teams in MLS are now competitive with the teams in any league in the Americas.
Like it or not. I'd give an edge, to Argentina, Mexico, and Brazil but I said the MLS was competitive, not better. In the past couple of CONCACAF/CONMEBOL competitions it has been quite evident in the matches.
Is it a "top" league? Of course not. What league that is only 4 season old would be?
But if you watch the matches, they have some exciting players. There are quite a number of talented offensive players being scouted out by top European leagues. Some are going, and for the growth of the game in the US and for the national squad, I'm glad. I'd say the defending is a bit lacking at times, but I'd say that about a lot of leagues.
Yes, the MLS has it's mistakes, but they seem to be slowly correcting those. (the dreaded shootout)
EA's mistake was not in including MLS, but in doing a horrible job of it. Many of the top players are missing. I'm not talking about reserves here. And having no Season or league option available is shameful.

Well said, jsbach! http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif MLS is definitely not as bad as some people think it is!
As for EA's shoddy treatment of the MLS, I think that the main problem is that EA acquired the MLS license pretty late in the game's development and just inserted the MLS teams in there without much research and such. My guess is, though, that EA will soon release a patch that may correct that.

MLS is cool, it isnt that bad, I will tell you one thing, I would rather have MLS teams on the game than a bunch of Fictional USA teams like the previous additions of FIFA games had

Goodsport,
you are probably right about EA's timing and getting the rights to MLS too late.
I wouldn't hold your breath on any sort of roster patch from EA, though.
They haven't been known to do that much.
