Can you actually train the players’/team, or can you just use your points to train? I thought we’d actually train the players’ and make them better.
I do realise there’s a practice mode, but that doesn’t effect the team you control in career mode.

You need a certain amount of points and the cash to be able to complete a transfer, and if you reduce your bid or the transfer is rejected you lose those points you used for the bid.
I think you will find that any individual training you set carries on each week until you unset it, so you may be using most of your prestige points on training leaving you with not enough to make a transfer bid

What kind of training options do you use the points on or is it just general training?

Its not that bad, it may get boring after a while. (it'd be the same stuff)
If they had included the manual training in carreer mode.
