this is foolish.

They want Arsenal fans to believe that the England Turkey scrimmage was worth 17,800, but Arsenal is fined 275000 and nine games.
I would have to be an idiot to see the logic there.

They'll be using that money to pay off the fine for the England/Turkey brawl.

all this decision has done is strengthen Wenger's authority.....he apparently wanted to contest the charges, the board did not, and in the end, I don't think they saved a dollar or a match ban by not having an aggressive defence.

Arsenal have a donkey board living on one inspirational moment of wisdom when they hired Wenger......since then they have been plods.

wow!now with arsenal having a weaker defence than before,i bet this could happen:

any goalkeeper would penetrate them .look!!!howrds gonna cross!!!!(pic 1)
and then eventually pires would have to dive all over the pitch to get the opposition players booked and sent off.(pic2)

Uh well, i think we will just bring back moritz volz, who has been excellent for fulham, and nulified cristiano ronaldo the other day, while bombing down the wing and getting great crosses in, plus we have jermaine pennant and he would give us an added dimension so oh well:D :D :D :D

Bet you didnt see that one

Bobby

we don't even need to, we've got Gael Clichy.

Freddie's back so Ray won't be needed.

Edu can fill Gilberto's roll, while he drops back to fill vieira's.

No difference really.

Lehman
Clichy, Toure, Campbell, Cole
Ljungberg, Edu, Gilberto, Pires
Henry, whoever

northstar
31-10-2003, 01:16:AM
who the F is Clichy?

Fully deseved punnishment. Arsenal showed zero class and complete disrespect to football IMO.

Bobby
31-10-2003, 01:25:AM
You don't see him because he wasen't needed.

He's better than 70% of the wing backs in the EPL.

ogsimon
31-10-2003, 01:26:AM
Clichy is class, he will challenge cole for his spot, by the way ljungberg he plays left sided

Yea, it's his natural position.

But he came on as a right back at Rangers in preseason and i hear he did a nice job.

I reckon it will be Hoyte or more likely Volz who looks proper impressive for fulham, i think him and pennant is what will happen in the future providing we dont get a wealthy russian billionaire.

I think Arsenal need a change on the right side anyways and pennant bombing on while volz backs him up stopping players like ronaldo and ali in the box finishing off

antithesis
31-10-2003, 01:42:AM
do you really, truly, honestly, believe that Pennant and Volz can defend an entire flank.

Not me!!!

That would be suicide, teams would tee up, the pitch would tilt to the right side with the amount of oposition players running there............

Bobby
31-10-2003, 02:12:AM
Ljungberg and Volz could.

You'd have to leave Ljungberg in to play Pennant right now, i'd say.

Pires can't defend worth crap anymore, and Pennant isn't a great defender himself. Ljungberg can defend, although he hates it, he's better than Parlour.

ogsimon
31-10-2003, 02:18:AM
With every great attacking talent u have to sacrifice defensive responsibilities sometimes, figo plays right sides, but real cope.

I think pennant would do great there. or maybe in a free role with edu gilberto and viera playing central.

Volz is playing great at the moment, i dont know how much you have seen of him antithesis but he has been great for fulham and did well against ronaldo the other day while getting up the wing and crossing good balls in.

For someone yet to make an appearance in the EPL and is :drevil: claimed :drevil: that he is better than 70% of the wing-backs in the epl is not yet proven..... without experience comes no better performances..... no offence to charlton fans(if there are any here on SG), kishishev and hreidarsson really shut out arsenal.... if clichy could play against his mates that well... consider him a temporary great wingback...

Bobby
31-10-2003, 03:08:AM
That's because Cole and Lauren are better than him

Fernandez
31-10-2003, 03:14:AM
but you said that he is better than 70% of the wing-backs in the epl... is he better than riise? or finnan? or neill? or fortune? or g. neville? or p.neville? or kishishev? or hibbert? or unsworth? or bridge? or johnson? or melchiot..... huh? huh?

lauren and keown with 4 and 3 match bans respectively. Parlour and Viera with 1 each and Cole has been warned. All of them have been fined, with the total fines = to 250,000 pounds :rockman:

We won't play Kolo at right back. It's going to disturb his whole learning process at centre back.

Clichy was rock solid in the league cup clash, I just hope he does a good job if he does get called up.

We didn't "play" unfairly. It was after the match ended.

you haters dont want Cygan to get a chance do you.

Cygan has to play especially against Birmingham.
Playing Toure at wingback or even Campbell is not going to stunt their growth, because there will come a time when Arsenal will be forced to play 3 at the back, to get an important goal, and more than likely they will line up

Toure Campbell Cole

if they decide to shift him, it's gonna make the team better either way.

i personally think that the suspension won't hurt arsenal a bit... as the fixtures are all non big team + a carling cup match as well... i think they will do fine with this suspension... and they can always recall back all their on-loan players if they needed them...
