View Full Version : Suggestion for more balanced game

One thing I did to help out the opposition's defense: I editted all the team IGMs. I noticed that every team was set to complete offense -- no wonder they had so many holes at the back!

I'm getting more ties on World Class, and wins of the 2-1 variety more often.

Here's what I did:
1.) Edit all tams IGM: set them to a more reasonable back 4 (with a sweeper works well), or even 5 with wingbacks and setting their attack/defense to neutral or +1 to attack. I haven't played with their strategy pages (man-to-man, etc.) but that might help too.

2.) All GKs are 7-7(or 6)-5 for skills, positioning, and aggression, and all
the defenders have been pushed up to 6
or 7 for strength, tackle, heading, and
control.

3.) Plus I used the speed patch, and took
all strikers down to 3 or 4 on shooting.
(so, wonder of wonders, they *miss*
often!)

The game seems a lot more reasonable now...
the midfield is furious and there are more shots but fewer goals. It is a pain to edit all the teams though!

If people really care, I can clear it up and upload it, or email it to people if someone wants to try it. I've only done the EPL.

Yeah ok I agree with you as far as editing IGM,
But if I have to make all keepers at seven, and pushing up all defenders to 7, etc. whats the point, you lose all the differentiation between different players. I mean the game may play better, but if I have to do that to make a more realistic game Id rather just chuck it in the garbage and play with FIFA 98 or 99 instead.

I agree. Thats pretty much where FIFA 2k should be, is in the garbage. If not for the improved graphics and the fact that I'm getting better results by just adjusting the IGMs that's where it would be.

We shouldn't have to do EAs job for them and adjust all those numbers to make the gameplay better. They screwed up and rushed to get this version out, the result is a ****ty product with a few nice improvements. If everyone is smart next year, they'll rent it first before buying it. Because the only way EA will get the message is when sales drop off.

I too have made the suggestion to lower the IGM. I don't edit players (except for Zach Thornton of Chicago Fire; he is 6'3" 230lbs and a strength of three...yea right). The IGM switch worked well however, there is one thing that everyone seems to forget. When you are playing this game you are just one person. When the real game is played it is 11 there are 11 different people thinking different things. WIth the game it is one person thinking for all the players. Plus you can never make a bad pass. You are always passing to the person exactly where they want it. Granted it does not always make it because the computer is there but it is still a near perfect pass. I switched to using the L1 button on the gamepad pro. For a forward pass it actually make the pass a lead pass so that the forward running player can never break stride. This is not always the case and the passes are sometimes errant (too long or too short as the forward decides to sprint too soon). For a back pass it is the same as a regular pass. Be warned: this is an advanced move! If you use it too much (as I do) the computer will play harder for some reason. I was 25 games into the english league season with liverpool, and for the past 5 games I have NOT BEEN ABLE TO SLIDE TACKLE THE COMPUTER. It has pulled every special move in the game in order to aviod the tackle. I was in danger of losing Owen bergkamp, Fowler, and Berger to a second yellow card but now I don't have to worry because I can never foul anyone.
