View Full Version : So long FIFA, ello PES!
shokz 01-11-2003, 06:09:AM The temptation of the force was just too strong, I got tired of having my games end after 5 minutes on the great PES3 PC demo(which was well worth the wait! :))
http://anakinskywalker1.homestead.com/files/lightsaber2.gif
I went down the road and rented out PES3 PS2 for a few nights.
All I have to say now is, there is no looking back, my loyalty of nearly a decade for EA has come to an abrupt end, my loyalty lies within Konami(I personally enjoyed ISS3 PC).
Goodbye FIFA, Hello PES!
I guess I have switched to the dark side, until next year there may be no turning back.
Sitting here with my PS2 pad on my lap, I'm loving it, and I cant wait to get my hands on the PC version when its out. :rockman:
My only complaint is that I've never seen players run so fast in real life(afterall, no game is perfect/flawless). :ewan:
I won't be the one missing out this year though, I have seen the light!. :)
P.S Euro 2004 will be crap aswell.
mohawk 01-11-2003, 06:16:AM glad to see another Man Utd fan see the light as well :D
I used to play fifa2003 too as it was the only decent footie game for PC...but now....now everything has changed :)
rhizome17 01-11-2003, 06:45:AM Yeah, now PES is available on PC I am abandoning Fifa. Had enough.
witon 01-11-2003, 07:17:AM welcome brother, if they incrase the field size, you will found they are running is a good speed
shokz 01-11-2003, 07:18:AM Just finished editing club names. :D :rockman:
"Van Mistelrooy" is a bloody insult(j/k) I tell you! Its not his fault he hasn't scored for 4 games.
All-nighter me thinks. :mrpimp:
TottiNZidaneR#1 01-11-2003, 08:19:AM Well i am joining shokz here. I have played fifa snice 98 and damn i alwaysed wished for a better game and finally PES 3 comes out to PC and saves my life.
BTW when is this game coming out?
Keemo 01-11-2003, 08:21:AM NOT SOON ENOUGH!
Nov 14 I hear.
shokz 01-11-2003, 08:28:AM 7th for me, if the Royal Mail is still on strike, I'll have to go down town early, but its well worth it. :rockman:
I just looked on EBGames(US site), and I cant find Pro Evolution Soccer 3 for PC, I think you guys might have to get it shipped from Europe, its PC anyway, so theres no problem there I guess.
Amazing deal - http://shop.gameplay.co.uk/webstore/productpage.asp?productcode=RM00750 :rockman:
£22.99p
£5 for shipping to the US
http://www.gameplay.com/help/shipping#overseas
:rockman:
witon 01-11-2003, 08:45:AM hey guys if you look at the the cover of the game
http://shop.gameplay.co.uk/webstore...uctcode=RM00750
it said PC -cdrom, doesnt it mean it is not a dvd version ?
Keemo 01-11-2003, 08:50:AM Yep, I have to import it. Thanks for the link to that site I think I'll buy it from them.
But will that mail strike you speak of disrupt my shipping to the US?
shokz 01-11-2003, 09:19:AM http://server.iad.liveperson.net/hc/614779/?cmd=file&file=visitorWantsToChat&site=614779&byhref=1
I'm not really sure if it disrupts shipping abroad, so try asking later on at 9am my time(under 5 hours from now) when the Live rep chat opens, you can ask a Gameplay rep anything, I'm sure they will help you, I've used it twice before. :)
AcillateM 01-11-2003, 05:22:PM welcome mate
Frostwolf 01-11-2003, 05:28:PM Ben, it's about ******* time.
What did I tell you? :kader:

shokz 02-11-2003, 12:19:AM :ewan:
Dan the monkey 02-11-2003, 12:25:AM Yep this is my first PES aswell, bloody amazing. I was watching Wigan vs Crystal palace on the tele today and noticed how much alike it was to pes3. Roll on November 7th!!:rockman:
niceman 02-11-2003, 12:35:AM Dude u have joined the good side...the dark side is FIFA that r using naive footballer lovers to buy a game where u can volley the balls from midfield into top corners...bye EA ill see u in hell...

I agree, I just watched Wimbledon vs Bradford on Sky Sports to check out Jobi McAnuff btw as there was nowt else on tele, Konami were spot on. (Y)
The other morning I watched Chicago Fire vs Columbus Crew, I noticed how bad EA tried to copy the MLS nets(Watch MLS Goal of the Year clips and you will know what im talking about).

EA makes horrible nets for any league.
EA Sucks! No question about it...
I got so fed up of FIFA's gameplay pissing me off that I bought a PS2 just for Pro Evolution Soccer, and after playing PES3 almost continuously since I got it back on the 17th October, I'll never play a FIFA game again.
With FIFA 2004 being complete utter ****e, I am going to stand outside the local GAME store in the town I live in and if I spot anyone buying FIFA 2004 for the PC, I am gonna kick **** out of them and make them spend their hard earned on PES3 instead... Hell I'd buy the DVD drive for them to play it on!!!
Don't believe EA's propaganda folks... how they can get away with a game that has awful sound, awful graphics and frame rate that stutters on a Radeon 9800 Pro with a Pentium 4 as well is beyond me (*phones Trading Standards Commission...*)
shokz 02-11-2003, 02:49:AM Join the club you wee welsh beast. :ewan:
I already did 6 months ago when I bought my PS2...
FIFA 2003 was the reason why, but on reflection FIFA 2004 is an even bigger reason to believe my decision was the right one... though I might try and get PES3 on the PC. I don't mind buying it twice, putting money in Konami's coffers because they deserve it...
Unlike EA :kader: - all that money and they spend about a fraction of one game sale on kits and rosters research, judging by the content.
WELCOME! I TOLD YOU! :p
When I played my 1st PES, My jaw dropped. My jaw still drops watching little flicks, etc. Its brilliant. The players are so fluid. OMG
*RUNS TO PLAY PES3*

PES3's nets are so lifelike and even better there's a few different styles of net, depending on the stadium.

The football side of it is, just a sideline for EA- maybe the NHL guys had to design the nets? ;-)
I just don't understand EA, they're capable of so much more- just look at NHL 2004!! They obviously don't take non-American sport seriously. Have you seen the Rugby demo? Hahahaha... what a joke!
I have Rugby 2004 on PS2 ;(
Its ****.
Keemo 02-11-2003, 07:03:AM Yes, sadly there is a game worse then FIFA and it's Rugby 2004.
I think it was some new trainee's college thesis...he obviously didnt graduate....but EA hired him for FIFA2004 to save some cash for the execs to take a 6 month vacation jetsetting in the mediterranean, living off caviar and sneering at the pitiful sheep that succumb to thier mass-marketing scheme to set the bar for video games as low as possible.
Hendrik 02-11-2003, 08:21:AM I have just pre-ordered my copy of PES3 for 33 Euros. (H)
The demo kicks ass, runs fine on my machine.
Goodbye Fifa... :ewan:

Hugo-45-Viana 03-11-2003, 08:03:AM How? PES made it possible to over-right their CD for the PS2??
GANT3Aa 03-11-2003, 08:23:AM some pes 3 versions can be patched too
Hugo-45-Viana 03-11-2003, 09:26:PM What would I need to patch it?
GANT3Aa 04-11-2003, 04:47:AM a modchip to play backups;)
monkee 04-11-2003, 03:02:PM Is it just me or is the FIFA->PES conversion rate greater with this edition than ever before? I wonder if it's the revolution? :D
Well the reason is because EA pissed with the lid down with FIFA 2004 big style...

Green Fan 14-12-2003, 05:22:PM I was another hardcore Fifa fan, but this year's version really annoyed me. It was predictable and didn;t like the gameplay at all. I couldn't dribble, every pass was correct and almost every shoot was on target. I must admit though, that it was a great improvement over the last version. Then I heard PES was out for PC and I thought to give it a try. I must say that I'm stuck with it now, I updated the kits and boots and all my playing time goes to PES. I like the gameplay, it looks like real football !

Wow, that's an old posting of mine. Well, I bought 'Madden NFL 2004' a few weeks ago- so more ker-ching(!) for EA! I have to say that it really is a great game. So... I've got:- NHL 2004; 'Madden NFL 2004'; 'Tiger Woods PGA 2004'; and >>'FIFA 2004'<< ... spot the f***ing 'lemon'!!
Maybe it's me, for giving EA so much money. No problem though, it was Christmas money. :-D
Lidstrom#5 17-12-2003, 05:44:AM i just sold fifa on ebay and will go and buy pes tommorow!
played the fifa series for years, but i´m so dissappointed this year:(
