Who is the most important to his respective club?

Henry to Arsenal?

Owen to Liverpool?

Van Nistelrooy to Manchester United?

Shearer to Newcastle?

Shearer to Newcastle, the captain and goal scoring leader.

yep. Shearer by far. Not just for the great player he is, but for the fact that he symbolizes Newcastle.

Shearer to Newcastle because he's the second highest Newcastle goalscorer ever with 155 goals, his aim now to capture the legendery Jacky Milburn's 200 goals beforre he hangs up his boots plus he is the king of Tyneside.

All strikers in that list:D but Shearer is the most important I believe, due to his experience, his symbolism to the club, his captaincy role and the fact he's scored so many goals for his club..

Not sure Liverpool REALLY need Owen to score them the goals, all the other ones can also score via other players. :p

But seriously, personality wise I think it has to be Shearer, he IS Newcastle. However Owen, Henry and Ruud have probably just as much credit from their fans. Which would make Ruud even more admireable becasue he did that in just two years.

Probably Shearer. Although i dont know how Man U would be doing without RvN, playing Forlan and Bellion upfront. Or Solksjaer, although the latter is a good player. But no strikers in that team compare to Ruud. I think the most important is Shearer, because he's the soul of the team, but the most missed would be Ruud for Man U, i know i'm probably contradicting myself but that's my opinion.

A big one.

Anyways, Shearer is to Newcastle, what a ball is to football. Without him, Newcastle are nothing.
