OMG i play soccer in real life and i dont get this frustrated!!!

PES3 makes me so frustrated on 5 star.
It pisses me off chasing the ball 70% of the time!
Maybe i am too used to the ****ness gameplay of fifa and i never be patient and try to build up play when i have the ball.

Anyway the game is great except for some annoying things:

1. I can never head the ball out of my own 18 yard box why? If i press the pass or shoot button it does not clear the ball out of the box?!?

2. When i put the game on fixed mode it is hard to notice where my player is. I should be a different colour on the radar. Say a yellow circle.

3. Can someone give me tips of defending corners. This is on 5 star mode. Most of the times the cpu always scores against me from set peices and corners. Its so frustrating when your defense is rock solid until they get a corner and score an easy header! I can never stop them.

Learn to pass really well and dont lose the ball on dumb mistakes. If you can't attack just pass around till you see something. Edit your formation and put guys farther out on the wings if you like that way.
use the shoot button to head balls clear from your box or try chesting it with R1 and then kick with 0 or [] to clear.
Headers do seem a little waek at times i know.
Fixed mode really dosent help you see yourself at all. its more for multiplayer or play a midfielder if your alone.
Defending corners i havent learned yet.

Been there myself, but if you suddenly got thrust into the highest standard of league or international football in real life, i think you'd find it pretty frustrating, and very difficult to play the game properly, so in that sense i think it's quite realistic. Practice, practice, practice!

a: headed cl;earences are much more realistic in pes3 than other footie game, have a look at real life, you can hardly head the ball longer than 20 meters away, which is recreated in PES3. Only if the ball is coming onto the head can he clear it to the half, because most of the power comes from the ball itself. If it's a high ball or an angled ball its difficult to clear with the header...I like this...

b. defending corners is tricky, I haven't found a problem though, they hardly ever get a sho let alone score. I clear using the shoot button, or I mostly do a headed pass to the near defender...

Thanks for the advice guys
i think i read somewhere there is a button to jostle for position while the ball is in the air. Is it r2?

Maybe i am not timing the headers right because when the players get conjested in the box the game slows down (pathetic gf4 mx).

The R2 button is to move your player towards the ball when you are not in posession.
You are right, heading is a matter of timing.
I know PES 3 (like the other Konami soccer games) is hard to master. I am not the most talented player and it took me about three weeks to get used to this special football game :)
The practice mode is not implemented for nothing in this game.
I think PES is the kind of game you really start to appreciate when you play it often, discovering the nice little features more and more :)
When people write that they did just play the game 2 days and they do not like it, it's simply because they did not play it long enough... ;)

I agree but some people would notice it quicker then the others for some reason. When I played ISS for the first time, I have noticed it right away how great the game is, I also notice it was better than fifa 2003 and fifa 2004 I would say the gameplay that is. As you would know this game takes patience, cause this is not fifa pass pass pass goalll, its more like in real life, you need to build a play to score and the realistic side is you will not score in every chance :rockman:

PES3 ROCKS I m telling you fifa fans, it is the most realistic game ever in this planet.

Arghhhhhhhh! i am gonna break something soon. I break my nuts getting into a lead and keeping the defense nice and tight, than as soon as they get a corner they score! This is bs! it is impossible to stop them from scoring corners! 1 out of every 3 corners they get they score!

Yeah corners suck in real life tho. A team that can't attack very well can still beat you with corners. try bringing out your keeper(hold triangle) if the ball is played about 12m or less from goal, if it works he will punch it away or atleast maybe knock the attack away from a clean shot.

Ok thanks Keemo.

One other question for gamepad users is that are you comfortable using the analog stick?

I find it abit awquard and i use the normal direction pad instead of the analog stick. Maybe it just takes time?

When I first started I used the analog...it was hard to use becuase it felt too fast and hard to control so i switched to d-pad, but after I became better at the game I came back to analog and now it's perfect and I can do some precise movements and I love how sensitive it is. You feel like a real player in total control of your moves it just takes some finesse and don't over-react.
