There maybe some things I don't like - for instance CPU attacks all the time from the middle, or I cannot outrun a defender even with a fast player - but I've seen some things that make me love this game. I've scored a goal with a deflaction that fooled the keeper. It looked so real! Keeper was diving to the left, ball hit a defender and went the other way. I had an excellent diving header which ended just next to the post. I didn't score, but it was a great effort! I'm mastering dribbling. It doesn't work all the time as in real world and it looks beautiful. Off the ball is a nice plus to this year's game. Good keepers at last. It's difficult to score from a header, especially when the cross is insde the box. Keeper uses to have a very good air control.
Overall I think it's a very good game mainly after last year's disappointment. I installed Fifa 2003, played few games and unintalled it immediately. This year I think it's gonna keep me busy for some time!

Thank you for this good review.
I've got the complete PC version since last thursday ( in Germany it's out )
and I can assure you that the CPU attack also with the wingers, depending on the teams, and it is also possible to outrun the defender .
You need to alternate slow pace, tricks and sprint button.
It is not working every time but it's just like in real football.
Off the ball and in game management add also deepness
The only thing I miss is that the CPU does not shoot from long range ( at least I have not experimented it yet )

Cheers JM

Hey Hey!. there U Go dude!.:rockman: Another very POSITIVE Review!:hump: and U know wat? I finally found out that CPU does play in other way when I changed my style of play (like wing play, neutral etc). like Jomi mentioned, It depends on the teams. moreover they shot from long range one time and day scored in DEMO. so anyways it's cool to know more ppl start to like FIFA04~!:rockman:

Its a great thing to know that people are posting positive reviews. Makes me feal good. I guess my problem is that the nets and the field look sorta small. That could just be me though. Awesome game.!!!!!!! (and i've only played the demo)

yup...the CPU does change its style of play depending on the tactics they're playing...i noticed that in a match against Celtic and they'd play a very direct, wing-supported style with a lot of straight-to-Hartson balls...true to real life! great game, great gameplay, and the only disappointing feature is really the off-match routines...they are somewhat lacking in depth...but this is FIFA, not CM, anyway...:)

actually i've noticed teh cpu change there style in a game, i was everton playing aganist wolves and wolves cored in the 80th to take a 1-0 lead, after that they had like everybody back and would play around with the ball and then just boot it down the field, or kind of run over in the corner of the pitch etc.... this was just on exhibiton too i'm wating for the english release so that ican buy and start up a carrer...

the keepers are not good mate. they suck, they let long rangers fly past them into the middle of the net. the game is alrite tho, it is hard to dribble, and player attributes dont really have an affect, eg henry is no quicker than sum shoddy 2nd division defender

it´s very nice to know that EA improved the gameplay and the guys are enjoying these improvements...:mrpimp:

and what about the cinematics? they look real?
and ronaldo´s airplane and Raul´s ring kissing are still there?

Long range goals are few and far between when you play on pro or world class, but they can be done just like in 'real' football.

Scoring them on the lower settings is expected, because the keepers aren't as good, because you are on an 'easier' setting.

Certain teams play with different styles, so the cpu AI does change, and I'm sure there will be a way to customise the AI of a particular team further on the PC version.

Keepers suck? oh I don't think day suck all the time and day let long range shots? I thought some negative ppl said CPU never shoots from long range(wat's up with that?). it is hard to dribble? maybe for u, it is and how long have u been playing? player attributes don't matter? of course day do but only u don't know how to use dem. Henry is not faster than someone in 2nd division? Does Henry just kick the ball and run? that's how he goes past the defenders everytime? he has skills u ignorant ppl. if ur right y Marc Overmars is not as good as Henry cause he got that speed. and think about Ronaldo. is he as fast as Henry? no but he still has ability to go past defenders with fabulous skills. U have to master how to do everything u want to do. if it was like-if ur Henry u go past every defender, how boring would it be? oh well, I know u still don't like it but hey, most of us don't care and r gonna buy one. and after I play and think the game sux like u say, I don't regret cause it was my decision so y do u keep complaining like 5year-old kid? go get a life.:rockman:
