If Gerard Houllier picks up a copy of today's 'News of the World' he'll be hoping Liverpool supporters all over the world will now finally forgive him for selling Robbie Fowler.

The former Liverpool striker, who is still worshipped on Merseyside, is handed a full page to himself today as the Sunday newspaper shows secret photos of him in a late night club which they claim were taken just a few night's before Manchester City's match yesterday.

Fowler's career has virtually collapsed since he was shown the door by Gerard Houllier in what has to be the best bit of business the manager has ever done when you consider the transfer fee we received for him. Unfortunately the player has never been replaced by anyone who can match him when he was at his best but Ian Rush believes Florent Sinama-Pongolle should prove to be a massive hit at Anfield.

There was no doubting Fowler's ability prior to his injury problems and the off-the-field incidents that dogged him. Hopefully he will eventually find his feet again at City - after all, he did score for them yesterday. :(

This has made Kevin Keegan look like a right mug too, who made 2 attempts to sign him last summer.

If only he was a true role model like Steve McManaman.

I know I shouldn't be saying this, I bet there are atleast 1 or 2 players like this in everyclub(Perhaps in Man U) - and Robbie Fowler is a right disgrace, very unprofessional, and I cant stand the shape of his nose.

McManaman deserves to have Robbie Fowler's wage packet for the next month.

Among the group at Route were Steve McManaman, Danny Tiatto, Claudio Reyna, Trevor Sinclair and Jonathan Macken. But a witness said McManaman stayed sober and "kept the others in line".

Of course they are allowed, who said they couldn't? Only Robbie Fowler acted like scum.

"City were staying at a nearby hotel after playing in London on Tuesday. Fowler's wife, Kerrie, and his girls aged four, two and one were at home in the North."

Fowler got owned by News of the World.

it's hard to believe everything you read in the papers.

put into perspective, Keegan was praising Fowler during his whole aftermatch interview... after he scored a great goal and all that. He must feelm let down.

anyway I still personally think Houllier was a fool to sell Fowler.
(same can be said about his handling of most transfers at Liverpool)

yes I know in the end that's what happend ... Fowler was the one who decided to move. but the in whole story its more a case of Robbie being forced out more than anything else. Lack of regular football was bound to make him break someday ... the only reason it took him so long to finally decide to move was coz of how much he wanted to stay.

Lets think about this...

Fowler and the boys go out for a drink... and then on the weekend City go on to beat Soton, and Fowler scores a goal.

United's namby pamby nancy boys couldn't beat Soton (H)

And Houlliers a wowser - why else would he only sign players under the legal drinking age :mrpimp:

Sure if the team were languishing in the relegation zone or sitting somewhere like SEVENTH instead of FIFTH it might be a cause for concern. But the team are playing well, Fowler has scored a couple of goals, all is well... and I would rather he be drinking than snorting...

exactly. be fair with fowler, amika. no matter how loyal a player is to his club, there is a limit. loyalty doesnt mean a player has to accept whatever ****e his manager puts on him.

there is a reason why he wasn't starting regulary after the injuries and that is he ain't the player he used to be.. even now after he has moved from us to Leeds and now at man city he ain't scoring enough goals and still get injured easily... as much as i love him when he played for us but to be frank.. he ain't the player that we used to know... and i'm glad that we make a good profit out of him...

I can understand why you feel that way Amika.

I just feel that had Fowler stayed on he could have found his form again for the Reds. After he left he had a great spell at Leeds and scored something like 15 league goals for them in a short period of time. I don't want to have a cheap go at Heskey, but it's just obvious to me Fowler was the better option. then Anelka was ditched ... and to ad more Diouf now wears Fowler's number lol.
This is just a personal opinion, and what I would have done in Houllier's boots (but i'm not). I just feel sorry coz i like Liverpool a lot as a club and feel they've made some bad decisions

um yes, he's no longer the player he used to be after his injury, but as shearerM4 said, i still think hes a better option than heskey. i just dont know why houlier put so much faith in heskey while at the same time was reluctant to praise fowler even he scored a goal after a game. u call this man management?

Well as a City fan, and although Fowler hasn't scored a whole heap, I know which one out of him and Heskey I would rather see on the team. Folwer may yet come good regarding goals, but there has been no faulting his other play. I don't think that Fowler and Anelka have gelled as Keegan would have liked, but he is still a useful player to have, even coming off the bench.

lol it was funny when Wanchope shouted down that microphone after he scored.

Fowler is to inconsistant for keegans likeings.

Still, in some ways it is not necessarily a major issue that Fowler is finding it difficult. City have a number of goal scoring midfielders, I sometimes wonder if they should emulate United 4-5-1 system. Wright Phillips and Macmanaman pushing up alongside Anelka as the lone striker...or even Sibierski...

Fowler back in the limelight...Amika, yes Fowler is the 1 to leave Anfield..But he's has been forced to. In whatever sense, Fowler-Owen is by miles better than Heskey-Owen combination..Put urself in Fowler's shoe. Can you take it? (Amika, I dun mean any fight, just my opinion) He made a critical choice for his career & I think it's a good 1. It's up to him to revitalised his career...He's by far the deadliest finisher in the English game I had ever see....But Fowler, you still have to buck up to prove I m right
