Well, in my opinion a soccer game shouldn't be judged on gameplay alone. There are several important factors that contribute to its realism. I have the whole Fifa series with me and have even chatted with the Ea-sports developers in London. The reason Fifa is a step above the rest of its rivals is mere fact that Ea-sports adopts a no-nonsense approach to its graphics and animations. Its graphics are not at the top notch but there are still some quality factors involved. For instance, with my Ge-Force graphics card the textures of the ball can be seen! Pls note that I am not saying the graphics are out of this world but there is a level of decency.
For those die-hard graphic fans,Fifa 2000 is not for you. The game to date is Premier League All Stars or Bundasliga All Stars. No doubt the players look a little stiff and block-like, the kits are far more superior than the ones we make. Every texture and glitch is taken care of. The pitch goes without saying, is one of the best, the longitudinal lines on it really create the Premier League atmosphere. Stadiums were perfectly rendered to its finest with torn posters(adds to the realism) pasted on the walls and the teams sponsors on logos all nicely put around the stadium. Even the commentary box looked real. For shadowing, it is also the best. The sunlight that falls across the players produces a nice effect on the pitch. Now, the backdrop. The gameplay is horrible!!
If you are the type that looks for gameplay, Fifa 2000 will be your best friend. No doubt the controls are less when compared to Fifa99 but the new jostling and shielding ability allows users to take a dip into the real soccer-world if you know what I mean. The tackles are very refined and a new capability is the choice of choosing which player you want to pass to during set-pieces.(allows the setpieces to look more like real-life) Unfortunately, the Al is pretty stupid. My biggest score was 15-0 against Singapore!!
Programming is never easy (I tried it once using c++). We must always admire the skills of others and try to perfect our own.
IS FIFA2000 THE BEST? YOU DECIDE?!!

Although good graphics are nice to have, gameplay is more important for me. The gameplay in Fifa2000 is nice. I love playing the game, but sometimes I feel like going back to Fifa'99 because of the offensive options it had- when attacking i could switch conrol from the player that had the ball to a different player and have him make a nice run or just move him to a good position for a play, and steppover and other dribbling moves, and the runs the players would make whenever i would press the "C" button (i think). If Fifa2000 had kept those small extra things in their game, I would be totally obsessed with the game. I can't understand why EA took those options away??????????????????????????????????????
For me its all about gameplay, Im not worried about graphics etc if the gameplay is on the money. After that the frilly bits start to enter the equation. Fifa 2000 is an improvement in gameplay, the ball physics are good, the collisions are good, the general balance feels good. However the speed is still an issue for me on world class, it becomes ping pong. The pitch size is an issue and so is the lack of difference in quality of attributes between the best players and worst. I can play with New Zealand and beat Italy 5-1 (playstation version). As much as I would like to see this happen in real life its simply not accurate.
I have been playing a couple of other games and am finding that some of the areas that Fifa 2000 is deficient they excel in but they also fall over in areas that Fifa excels in. For me there is no one single best game. Its quite frustrating, I have been hanging out for 4 years for that perfect football game and I am still no closer to it.
I want good ball physics, decent speed settings, true passing attributes (ie: the ball doesnt automatically go to the recieving players feet.), accurate tackling, shooting and defending styles, accurate pitch sizes, a variety of camera angles to play with, accurate player names and rosters. After those things stadiums, graphics and sound etc would be nice to have but not essential. Basically I want the game to feel like a football game.
MAR10 is wright!
Why did they took the dribbling moves away i loved to do a RainBow Kick and then the head scissors in the empty net (and all the other moves).
BTW:i send an e-mail if there are any special moves in the game (like in FIFA99) to EA SPORTS and they didn't reply!

Iam sorry but are you playing the same game its bloody pinball soccer and the shame is the pitch perspective and on rails gameplay is just 4 years backwards i thought when World cup was realsed on Playsation EA were back on top well they have to sort these problems out Eidos, Rage , Crimson have all come up with titles that have tried and sometimes failed with new ideas EA just mix and add things that by and large dont add to the realism!!!!

What superb game are you guys talking about? Fifa 2000? Go to a doctor fast... i think that there's a serious case of brain injuries ... Fifa2000 could be a superb game if EA was decent enough to release a good patch for it... and on e of you guys is right... the dif. between players is marginal... neber understand why EA chnaged players sats... they started with a 3-99 system, changed it to 1-16 and now we have a 1-7 skill system, what makes having, for exemple, Alan shearer or Vieri on a team or any other striker in the game almost the same thing...

also you still cant score from "real" far away like in fifa 96-rtwc98 where you could make powerfull shots from almost the midfield, sometimes the shots would be way off but its better than almost all the time right in the goalies hands like he had a magnet...and i still havent seen much of a AI improvement their just faster and stronger more accurate and when they tackle you the ball allmost allways ends up in their feet once again as if they had a magnet...and all of the teams play very offensive no once have i played a team that only wanted to defend...also i hate the fact that they can easyly intercept my passes . if the AI knew how to play keepaway and counterattack instead off full force forward it woud provide better gameming.and the cammera now $ucks it allways pulls away to narrow and limit your passing options and those stupid arows dont work who the hell looks at them to see them turn colors instead of trying to make a play with your teamate..I realy liked fifa 96 stadium cam the players looked small but at least i knew who was where and i could make better and more plays and when i made a longball pass i would actually see the player before i made it know its like i dont even know if he's marked (i dont trust the arrows)If EA would have left the best things from each game fifa 2000 would be one bad motherfunker of a game.instead they do something good like 25 players in a team decently represented then they screw it up by having 16 players on a team and they leave out important ones and their real crapyli represented..writing this is pissing me off and i can go on and on like the star report but im a $ucker and will be buying fifa 2001 next year...God if you are reading this please make the competition healthyer i cant take this any more yea aaarrg gggg ggg !!!! gasp-gasp..take the pain pain awayyyyyyyyyyy......
