View Full Version : A EDUCATED BREAKDOWN OF WHAT WILL BE THE RESULTS OF EURO 2000.
Juninhio 18-03-2000, 10:47:PM Group A
Germany England Romaina Portugal
Hagi Days are over and Figo cant carry Portugal. Expect Germany and England to advance
Group B
Italy with their deep defense and Vieri up front. Also Sweden because Turkey is only Hakan Suker who is ever bit as good as Solsejeir on Man U.
Group C
Yugoslavia and Spain no contest. Both had poor results in WC 1998 and are looking for redemption.
Group D
Group of DEATH!!! Czech great against Malta but against France and Holland Nedved and Poborsky cant carry team. Holland with their deep squad and Zidane carrying France should qualify.
2nd Stage
England VS Sweden WINNER England
Italy VS Germany WINNER Italy It sucks that England, Germany or Italy will be out so early.
Holland VS Yugoslavia Holland
Spain VS France Umm how about France too close to call likely PK winner
3rd round
England VS Italy Two horrible penalty teams but I gotta go with England Midfield will kill Italy's also Sol Campbell and Adams are equals to Nesta and Caravanno.
France VS Holland
Holland should win with so much at stake
Final Holland VS England It wasnt meant to be for Adams and Co. Holland should win
If you disagree with me please provide a EDUCATED BREAKDOWN. Not "Yugoslavia or Italy" will win because im from that country.
PolishPower 19-03-2000, 01:19:AM I think it's still too early to make an educated break-down. Players are getting injured left and right, Luis Enrique will now miss EURO, and I hear Van Nistelrooy might also be out for a long time. There's just too many variables.
Also you didn't pick any upsets and you know there will be some! There's always upsets at Euro. I predict Norway will win, because everyone is underestimating them, and they have nothing to lose. If not, pick one of the big 5.
Mr. Knowitall 19-03-2000, 03:48:AM Figo can't carry Portugal. But he doesn't have too. Rui Costa, Sergio Conceicao, Paulo Sousa, Dani, Joao Pinto and Sa Pinto are no slouches etheir. Germany will lose to Portugal. I guarantee it. Simply too much pace for Germany. We got a glimpse of what Portugal could do against Germany in WC 98 qualifiers. An inexpierenced Portuguese team dominated them and Germany was fortunate to escape with two draws. Belgium will go over Sweden and Italy in group B. They have already thrashed the Italians and Larsson might not play for Sweden due to injury. Denmark will be the big suprise. They won't score very many goals but have the potential to win it all. A while back I said it would be Portugal and Denmark in the final and I still stand by that prediction. Holland will choke in the quarters. Van Nilsteroy is out for six months and the duo of Kluivert and Bergkamp hasn't won for Holland in a while ( i believe it was against Peru.)
Favorites: Holland, Belgium, Spain, Yugoslavia
Semi-favorites: Italy, Portugal, Czech, Norway.
Upsetters: England, Denmark, Sweden, Romania
not what they used to be:France,Germany
darkhorses: Turkey and Slovenia.
Woody_007 19-03-2000, 05:36:AM Okay ..... seeing as how I had a REEALLY nice reply, posted it .... and someone erased it ..... I'll cut it short ..... Holland is going to win. WHY?? Because no team can line up 1 thru 11 like they can. The win against Germany did wonders for their confidence, and even though Van Nilsteroy is injured .... they have Van Hoidjunk (spell) and a very deep reserve bench. Italy, England and France have not played up to their monumental selves and Germany is a shadow of what is was. There is the Czechs and Sweden. Even though they are extremely talented, they lack the experience. The Czechs may not make it out of ther group, although Sweden have a good chance. When Holland comes out of the Group of Death, the confidence they will have, along with thier talent and the fact that they are on home soil, is going to be too much. The only team that can stop them, is Spain. They are on a tear, they have the chemistry and the confidence that Germany, England, France and Italy lack.
WILD CARD --- ENGLAND, ITALY, FRANCE - if one of these teams ever find their confidence, they could win it all. Whether or not they find remains to be seen.
WINNER ------ HOLLAND
Woody_007 19-03-2000, 05:37:AM PLLLLLEASE DONT ERASE MY POST!!

Romanian side and Portugal side looked impressive in teh qualifiers. If you've seen Holland - Germany 2-1, what the hell makes you think they stand a chance?, usually somehow the Germans manage to perform on the big stage, Klinsmann,Hassler,Sammer to the rescue, but who this time?, doubt it will be Bierhoff or Matthaus. Germany lack, really lack quality this time around.
And no chance in hell Van Nistelrooij will be unfit for Euro 2000, there is still just under 3 months to go, Van Nistelrooij will be trying to recover extremly hard, he will surely be fit in time for Euro 2000.
Sorry, but co-hosts Belgium won't go through, we know the Italians will always be strong in the group stage, and Sweden is far more superior than the Belgians.
HagiRulez 19-03-2000, 10:19:AM I challenge you to hold on to your views so I can laugh at you when Hagi completely fools Germanys and Englands top defenders. Your view is btw as stupid as it can be.. shut up and don't tell Turkey is only Sukur, you haven't watched any games so you don't know squat! stupid kid
You guys are over-rating every fecking team! haven't you been watching football lately?? Italy, Sweden are so crap i would even say Turkey and Belgium will go trough to the next stage. Italy had the easiest group and they even managed to lost at home against Denmark, Sweden never scored more then 2 goals in a match (even against the little countries) I saw the last match against Poland and they were having trouble keeping the Polish from the scoresheet.
and finally i would like to give the names of the important players of the Turkey squad
Rustu, this keeper has excellent reflexes, but that's about all
Alpay, he's a bear but a bit clumsy
Fatih, he's a bear too in defense but also has a magnificient long ball which always finds the strikers
Tugay, excellent ball control and passing, he went to Rangers this season.
Sergen, He's the best player of the squad! not Hakan Sukur. he has excellent technique and vision.
Abdullah, has a devestating left foot and a good ball control.
Sukur, well he's a great striker, he's tall so very good in the air and he gives a lot of assists. All these players have proved to be great players against Germany etc.. most of them play at Galatasaray who beat some quality teams. so don't talk crap and say Turkey is only Sukur
