Yeah, celebrity obsessed media - if it isn't MJ, it is Kobe Bryant, so long as Whats Really Happening isn't divulged...

These bombings are bad, not only for Turkey but also because it provides and excuse to rachet up the fear mongering yet again. If anything these latest ones show that it isn't just an anti-Jewish sentiment, it is against the mindset of the Turkish Authorities, being perceived as too close to western interests. The targets this time were British interests, so it will be interesting to see how BLair plays this one. Oh, and my sister was in Istanbul three weeks ago, so I am glad she got back to England before this happened...

Oh, and Bin Laden isn't dead because the CIA are too busy playing computer games http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2003/09/29/1064819879210.html :|.

To nitpick, it is the British gorvernment, not English.

Really awful news though, my thoughts go out to all involved.

The bombings are a result of ignorance of both sides, that is all the current terrorism phenonemon is. Ask me, both sides are as bad as each other. Possibly, the constituents (leaders) of wealthy nations are worse, they have the benefit of education, countries with basic rights, civic services yet still go about creating terror in the name of peace.:kader:

Haven't had a chance to have a good discussion with her yet, but from what she has said she really liked it. She also went to Gallipoli. SHe said she had a really good time in Istanbul, better than what she was expecting. She wasn't expecting it to be bad or anything, just not as good as it ended up being for her. In fact, she went to Greece afterwards, and kept wishing she was back in Turkey :p . She got a bit of a shock when she went to the baths though :o .

But yeah, she had a really good time there, and just like I told her, the food would be fantastic :rockman:

Turkey is the most western of any of the Muslim nations. That's nothing new in my opinion. But I did read that they are 99 percent Muslim which could be part of the problem. There is no room for any other thought, and that is dangerous and leads to the crap that happened today.

I was hoping to go to Turkey on a trip soon, but not anymore. White dudes from America need not apply in any of the Muslim nations.

And yes, Michael Jackass for 24 hours today. If I only had a gun....... oh wait, I live in America, of course I have one! I hate the media more and more each day.

Turkish food..... damn it's tasty. Nothing like it really. I rbought some turkish spice back to my father from Germany and he couldn't handle it. He normally tears through hot and spicy foods.

being modern is not enough if you dont enact it. this is what turkey is right now thats why they cant get into the EU.actually what you stated about the 99% of the population being muslim is not true there are many left party members in turkey that hate islam and belive that it is againts the rights that were shown to us by ataturk
especially the military who definetly does not allow people that are religious accepted into the army and women are not allowed to wear veils to school. these go againts all of my belives of freedom but that is how it is right now and i dont think it is going to change soon. but what your saying about not wanting another ethnic group may be also by the extremeists side.
im not trying to make my country look good or anything but let me tell you turkish hospitality is very nice. last year when i went to vacation in turkey when i stopped at a village they gave me food and chatted with me for hours and asked me if i wanted to stay overnight. and these were total strangers.

im glad her trip went fine and she didnt get robbed or something :) greece and turkey arent too much different but i guess istanbul is a little better. the bathes. heh now thats funny it is a shocker but hey you get hell of a cleaning though. i reccomend you to go if you ever visit turkey. there is a man who cleans you at the turkish bathes who is usually a big strong guy and he streches you left and right and rubs you as hard as he can to get you clean as possible and after your out the bath you probably wont be able to move for 2 days from soreness. its funny ive never been to one and not thinking of it. if you guys ever visit turkey during the summer let me know and i will definetly show you guys a couple of tricks that i got under my sleeve.;)
