Since Man U seems to be (not surprisingly) the RED HOT topic running through most of the posts right now, here is a thread that might interest you all:
The clusterf*** that has characterized Man U's goalkeeping this season - Mark "Deer in the Headlights on Crosses/Corners" Bosnich, Raymond "I'm not really a starter am I?" Van der Gough, and Massimo [you fill it in] Taibi.
What a mess this revolving, ill-managed position has been. One aspect of the team that Sir "I'm a socialist, but hell, knight me anyway" Alex must get low marks for regarding his handling. I think he has destroyed confidences and allowed for a general instablity in the center of his defense. Man U. still wins, still scores bundles of goals, but anyone who watched that "Mickey Mouse" Fifa tournament and the Champions League, where the Red Devil offensive machine cannot always correct mistakes, know to what I am referring.
I think it is incredibly ironic that Real Madrid's knock-out momentum was begun by an own goal, one that appears to have had little to do with Van der Gouw, but given all the troubles with goalkeeping, I almost hold Fergusan more culpable than Keane.
For all the criticisms of the chinks in the Great Dane's armour last year, there was never any doubt who's penalty box he was occupying - He Commanded That Box! In contrast, Bosnich always looks like a little boy, sitting in his friends sandbox, afraid to get sand kicked in his eyes.....(wow, that's a horrible simile, but it's the best I can do right now.)
Oh and Batistuta, if you read this, and in answer to your other post, I don't know why the hell Milan wants Bosnich. He does have a lot of talent - but talent is not all a team needs "between the posts."
