View Full Version : editor not working!!
Fellachap 30-11-2003, 06:43:PM My editor isn't working AT ALL!!!
When i double click on the editor.exe it goes to the progress screen saying initialising exportmanager or something like that and it sticks there!!!. i've left it for 15 minutes with nothing happening, i've also ctrl, alt, deleted and it always says it is not responding. What is wrong. should i have done a complete install instead of a typical install, is that the problem.
Anyone help me at all??????
(before any accuses me of warez, page 54 of the manual first word stadium)
champdave 30-11-2003, 08:19:PM No-one was accusing you of warez!
It is absolutely fine on my comp. It initialises the database and imports it, this takes about 10 seconds on my computer. Could you post the spec of your computer?
Also, where are you running the editor from - hard drive or CD2?
Fellachap 30-11-2003, 08:42:PM I only said that because lately i've seen when people have problems they are accused of warez, i was covering my back.
I am running it from my hard drive.
I have a pentium 4 1.5ghz
256 ram.
More than enough to run a blooming editor, the game itself runs like a mad man, so that's not the problem.
Did you do a complete install or typical??
champdave 01-12-2003, 04:17:AM Complete (1gb)

Exactly the same for me, Pentium 4, 2.6 Ghz, 512 Ram
champdave 02-12-2003, 04:28:AM Not for me, Pentium 4 5ghz (2 x 2.5), 2056mb ram :p
Try running it off CD2.

J'ai habité tres longtemps ŕ Nice, aaahhh la Cote d'Azur !!
I still don't understand why my editor is not running, maybe because I have installed the patch 1.10.
What do you think ?
Cheers JM

1. The patch is not to be blamed. I have also installed it.
2.Try to ged rid all your background Windows services (except of course Explorer and Systray). Preferably reboot before you do that.
3. You may however come across another problem. After you do any work with your editor, you must press the "Write Database" button. This may freeze your system. I don't know why but after a couple of task killings and reboots, it worked properly.
It seems that the Editor is not a stable piece of software yet
rpvankasteren 02-12-2003, 11:59:PM It's the RAM that's doing it. For me, the editor works fine on 768 MB (2.6GHz), but not at all on 512 MB (3.0GHz).
champdave 03-12-2003, 02:20:AM That is not it, as I installed it on my friends today. He has 256mb RAM and it works fine.

Hello
My editor is working now !!!
I have discovered the solution in the UK forum ( thanks to the guy who found it )
Go to your editor, right click with the mouse , then go to properties
And change the compatibility from Windows 95 to Windows 98/ME
And that's working at least if you have XP
Cheers JM
rpvankasteren 03-12-2003, 06:18:AM Strange. I have XP on both PCs used. Oh well, I'll give it a try tomorrow. :)
rpvankasteren 03-12-2003, 09:01:PM Yes, that has fixed the problem :D
champdave 04-12-2003, 02:49:AM It worked on me and my friends and we both have XP pro

Does this also fix the locking up when I am trying to write updates to the database? Or just for people having problems with launching the editor in the first place?
