View Full Version : Most Improved players
ogsimon 02-12-2003, 12:12:AM Who do you belive to be the top 5 most improved players in the world In your opinion.
This is from the end of last season, to now.
In my opinion:
-Edu: His passing is so great, and his pass completion is in the 90% range, He keeps play moving and IMO has to be ahead of Gilberto in the arsenal Pecking order. Similar to Valeron
Kolo Toure: Is my nomination for young premiership player of the year( if i had one) He has adapted well to central defence, dealing with and nulitfying some great strikers: Owen, Vieri, Van Nistle rooy (twice), Mutu, Duff, Crespo. He is very Quick, and his positioning has been great this season, saving arsenal on many occasion
Martins: He has been great, with his low centre of gravity he can turn players in an instance his acceleration is freightening, and he has one of the most fierce shots i have seen
Ashley cole: has improved immensly recentely in his defensive positioning, and has great recovery. IMO top 3 left back in europe
Fernando Torres: He has always been a talented youngster, but this season, he has been very impressive taking to his new role as half striker and captain very well, he has scored some important goals, with some great finishes and is one of the best youngsters in the game
eddy_87 02-12-2003, 12:22:AM 1. Silvestre - 100 times better playing in center
2. Kolo Toure - any offence?
3. Smicer - better than before
4. Forlan - yey, our donkey has woke up
5. Gerrard - what can i say else than BEST?
ryan_goal 02-12-2003, 12:29:AM Forlan has improved much? no, i'd rather say he's had better luck recently. i dont see any improvements in his play or approach to the game yet.
as a manu fan, i pick Phil Neville.;)
sorry i dont have any other candidates at the moment so i can't make it five.

I agree with 2- 5
Kolo is Kolo
Smicer has been bashed a lot by Liverpool fans but whenever i see him is technical game is good.
Silvestre seems the same player, but still good.
..
ogsimon 02-12-2003, 02:45:AM bump
IceBlu 02-12-2003, 02:48:AM one word - Zambrotta.
What a transformation !
PS: why is Martins on the list ? he was very good to being with... he just started off last year and has continued where he left off... doesn't count as improvement.
Well, Lampard has been in good form since atleast half way through last season, and his game has risen another level at Chelsea. Maybe it was form? Or maybe he is now a World Class Midfielder.
The man has a killer shot when going foward on both feet, he performs defensive duties in the midfield and deserves his spot in the Chelsea side atm.
ogsimon 02-12-2003, 05:12:AM Agree Zambrotta and Lampard are much improved, they have certainly gone up a level, especially lampard he really is taking games by the scruff of the neck
Bobby 02-12-2003, 05:14:AM PASCAL CYGAN!
from crap to a rock at the back, he's rarely made mistakes in his games.
Fernandez 02-12-2003, 05:19:AM 1. P. Neville - Been a revelation is midfield
2. Lampard - From EPL Player to World Class
3. Giuly - Who? I haven't heard this player since Monaco thrashing
4. Toure - Natural centre-back and ahead of Keown and Cygan
5. Torres - Like ogsimon said, a captain and a half-striker who scored 7 La Liga goals already this season with Atletico Madrid in fourth
ogsimon 02-12-2003, 05:19:AM hes only had 3 games i dont think that is fair to be putting him up there as most improved just yet
Bobby 02-12-2003, 05:21:AM hey, we used to shudder whenever we saw his number.

I agree with 1 and 2 (Y) .. Phil's simply outstanding :rockman:
Quinton Fortune also improved a lot.. became a regular united player always starting in the 1st eleven..

there's more to making an impact than scoring a goal. he is quiet on the field and doesn't make a lot of highlights, but his impact is evident.
as for giuly, i think people are starting to notice him with his stunning goals. but this guy's always been pimp with his. very fun to watch.
and toure has really impressed.
manutd4eva 02-12-2003, 06:40:AM I think lampard has improved more than anybody else.....he is truly world class now.:rockman:
mufc_daddy 02-12-2003, 07:21:AM 1. J Lloyd Samuel has played well for Villa since O'Leary took over
2. Lampard - The complete midfielder
3. Ruud - Runs all over the pitch and makes more tacles and passes than compared to last season
4. Kolo Toure - Great defender
5. Smicer - Doesn't seem to be as boring as he was last season

Changing your sex doesn't mean you have improved, Yash.
Alan Shearer, he is better, carrying Newcastle all the way.
Shola Ameobi has lifted a notch too.
Emre_5 02-12-2003, 08:22:AM What about Nihat? He improved ALOT over this past year.
Budge 02-12-2003, 08:31:AM imo not smicer...yes he has improved but not to top 5 stuff
stevie imo has always been good, but i think he stepped up to the captains role
lampard imo is one of the best players going around now, hes done a brilliant job staying in a team which has brought in so so much talent. watchin him against scum, he was just brilliant...
Nihat, Zambrotta, and Toure
very big improvements
Crusad3r 02-12-2003, 09:54:AM Forlan and Nihat
IceBlu 02-12-2003, 10:21:AM Ludovic Giuly is a great player to watch ! But he was always great ..
Gerrard 17 02-12-2003, 10:24:AM Did you see his goal last week? :o
:rockman:
ShearerM4 02-12-2003, 01:51:PM nice scisor kick it was.
GLad to see Lampard got a mention. I thought he would be one of the players that lose 1st team spot. And Bcome a fringe player at CHelsea.
But he's responded in the best possible manner. And is almost the only player to play every game for the Blues.
ogsimon 02-12-2003, 03:35:PM Nihat for sure, he has been a major improvement if you are talking the whole year
Parra Power 02-12-2003, 05:33:PM you get the feeling that most people only watch premier league?
