Hey, I'm programming a freeware SMG (Statto Soccer Manager) and I've got to the point where I'm programming random news into the game.

Anyone have any ideas on what I could add? I've already got player arrests and club website polls.

What about?

- Player family issues
- Players not showing up for practice (partying the night before)
- Players receiving endorsement deals (could affect their schedule later on if the player is more dedicated to that than team)
- Fans streaking (that would be funny..more of a joke really), but fan interference depending on the mood of the match..derby perhaps?
- Players getting sick.

That's it for now.

Those are good, in fact the streaker's already in there and has been for awhile. No heightened chance derby games, though.

Thanks.

Any more?

hmm. I'm not sure if you added player personalities in the stats, but if you have this might work.

Your star players might have a chance to get offered endorsements from outside products (shoes, junk food, etc.). Now if he accepts, he could either remain the same and keep playing hard for the team or it might affect his ego (I'm bigger than the club mentality) and his commitment to the club might go down. May cause him to look for a bigger club.

Not sure how that would work, but it's an idea.

I'll look into it, it's a good idea but commitment is not represented, maybe it should be?

Personalities are, however, so if you get a jerk of a player...

I guess you can make the personality affect it then. Say, if you already have a jerk of a player who happens to get endorsements, he's more likely to ditch your club for a bigger one if he starts getting more attention from the endorsements. Still make it a rare occurence though.

Right, but also the players which get the endorsements are already on the bigger teams. You don't see Rushden's Onandi Lowe anywhere but the likes of Beckham, Ronaldo are everywhere.

I don't see it affecting the player's presence at the club - I just see weeklong sponsorship opportunities making him unavailable at bad opportunities.

That makes sense. Definately would work.

By the way, the game is looking mighty good. I like the straightforward interface and features you've mentioned. I can't wait for the release.

Yeah thanks, I'm not a graphics artist so it's nice and simple and fun.

I'd also like to add dynamic injuries to the game. I need to make a list of everything I need to finish within the month...
