12/10/2003. Lazio's defeat last night against Sparta and the following elimination from all European competitions probably put an end to the Stankovic transfer saga.

Inter have previously announced that the midfielder would join them in January and now this is what is going to happen. The problem for the biancocelesti is that Oddo and Stam are ready to leave for Juventus in exchange of Miccoli or Maresca and the financial condition of the club does not put them in the position to offer good deals.

lazio was really counting on advancing into the knockout stages of the CL. It would have been a financial windfall.

If I were Lazio, and as much as I hate to say this, being a Juventini, I would ask for Maresca instead of Miccoli, despite the fact that Lazio's strikers are all 27 or older.

Maresca looks like he could develop into a fine attacking midfielder, but you have to give in order to get.

Stankovic said today that he will stay until July. Lazio may reach a deal for 6m euros with Inter now and join them later.

I would not send Miccoli or Maresca to any team. Lazio need $ so I'd give them only that or cash + loan Benjamin and Gasbarroni for one year.

Yeah, but Lazio isn't the type of team that would take other teams players to be loaned out. I can't remember the last time that I ever saw them do that. They're not exactly Brescia or Empoli.

However, if their financial situation is as bad as they say it is, you never know.

Stankovic deserves more then Lazio, no offense they are a club with good players (Corradi, Inzaghi, Stam, Lopez...) but Stankovic IMO is a top class midfielder and deserves to be in a club like Inter, Milan, Juve... i hope he joins Inter. ;) :p

well Inter it's a better team than Lazio, he would be wasted staying in Lazio too much. He deserves more :p

Everyone's talking about how Deki deserves more than Lazio. Did you guys see the way he played up until after the derby? He was dreadful, a waste on the pitch. And you guys all think he's this top class midfeilder, then he shouldn't join a club that's already at the top of the table, he should stay at Lazio to try to carry the club into glory. That's what the best players do, they can go to any team and automatically make them better, hell greatness wears off onto team mates.

Thats called " Struggling", But hey every player goes on a slump once in a while ... but this sucks for Lazio .. Deki has played great recently for Lazio and he played good in the last CL game hitting the post a couple of times i think, and coming very close on other occasions, but i dunt understand why you people think that if Deki goes to Inter that would be better for him ? IMO i dont think going to Inter would be better becuz Inter are certainly not a better team then Lazio and certainly are in a big slump these past couple of seasons, If he were to choose from clubs like Man Utd, Juve, Inter ..... Im sure we would pick Man Utd and/or Juve or Chelsea over Inter .. Just my 2 cents (H)

Inter are doing better than Lazio this season, thus Inter is better then Lazio, simple logic, no need for mumbo jumbo psychological stuff guys ;) Though I also haven't really seen where Stankovic has been this worldclass player you guys speak off. He's a good player, but worldclass?? I haven't seen it from him at all....

The thing is you guys are not really better then Lazio .. just becasue you got the Uefa Cup spot ? the thing thats messed with Inter is that they could beat Arsenal 3-0 at home, but then go and lose to Empoli 1-0 or somting ... you guys are just too inconsistent :S

Psychological stuff? :confused:

Just wait until the match until we decide who's better than who. You can't judge a team by their numbers, you know?

He could .... but i dunt think he would want to .... I think hes at a crossroads of his career where he could go to a team which has already got a good platfrom going .. and he could contribute to the teams success ... either that or go to a team who is rebuliding their platform ... and he would be one of the main guys who helps the team

lazio are just having a bad season, sorta......just like romas season last year, it happens to every team at some point.
