Hello, this is my first post here. Some of you may know me from The Dugout, some of you may know me from elsewhere and some of you mightn't know me at all. I won't give you my life story though, I'll just get to the point.

When I first got TCM2004 I started a game with my mate, Reid. He took control of Everton *spit* (yes, I'm a Liverpool fan) and I took control of Bolton Wanderers.

He went for the idea "if my defence is good, my team is good" and let's just say, it's not true. He brought in a few 25-6 year olds and his team rating is still around the 90 mark at the most.

Now then, for my Bolton squad I thought of the players I currently had who were any good (Jardel, Djorkaeff, Okocha etc) and I decided to buy players on the same standard as them to ensure my team doesn't get worse. I bought a few golden oldies including Pessotto, who has been awesome.

Anyway, I'm after a few 28+ year olds who I can sign for Bolton.

Thanks.

I would work on youth. I usually get 2-5 full star talents every year into my youth teams from scouting or tournaments.

I started a new game on the weekend as Shrewsbury Town and I had a full talent defender (lv7) and two 4* strikers (lv8/6) so they are in the first team squad. (H)

champdave, how do you get such talented youngsters for your youth team? I'm controlling Bristol Rovers, newly promoted to 2nd Division, and most of my youth players are 2-3 stars. I have, like, 5 international camps...

When I send people to youth tournaments I usually don't even get anybody, or if I do they're 1* people...

Any hints on how to find good youth players? And does sending your talent scouts out work?

the quality of the players is the effect of the higher the clubs prestige is and how good your talent scout and yuth coach is and your facilities and your camps

To improve your staff, you can put all staff on a 4 or below on a training course. Keep on doing this & they'll improve up to level 5.

Your youth coach finds players from your various camps. I always send everyone I have to the Youth player days when they come up. Rarely came away now without finding somone.

I do find though that the youth coach finds are never less than a level 3 whereas the player day finds tend to be 1-3.
