View Full Version : No more excitement in derby games??
HellsideUltras 17-12-2003, 01:23:AM We all heard this saying before that there isnt no more exictment or the players aren't getting into the game as much, but is this true?? well in some cases it is. Like in the english premier league for example, most big games are too boring! they play too defensive. And also while watching the games on tv you can hear the commentators saying there isn't any real atmosphere and the players aren't tackling hard.
But it's really stupid to me, why the hell should players tackle hard and play rough when they just going to get into trouble by the FA and get suspended. :kader: Also those same commentators who are saying the players aren't playing hard enough will then turn around and say it's a disgrace when that same player f*ck up his opposing player with a bad challenge:kader:
What you people think about this topic on why there isn't any more truely great derby matches?:)
northstar 17-12-2003, 02:42:AM Serie A and La Liga big matches have been good this year. EPL ones have sucked pretty much.
Jambo Den 17-12-2003, 02:51:AM Usually the hyped up games hardly ever deliver.
But to say there isn't any excitement in derbies anymore is just plain silly. I think I seen the 3 most exciting derbies ever last season. Each one as memorable as the other! :D
Torsten Frings 17-12-2003, 02:53:AM Almost all EPL matches have sucked this season, derby or not, because there's only 3 good teams, and the rest suck.
I just felt like typing that...attack me now...

Same in Holland, if not worse and what about Scotland then?

NOPE i have seen some good epl games this season so far
or what? 17-12-2003, 04:17:AM just the opposite for me.
The SerieA games put me to sleep, and when the fog comes across I always turn off the telly.
The LaLiga games have been the best with the Bundesliga games not too far off.
EPL games have been okay.

every league has 2 or 3 dominent teams but when ever we get on this topic every one always refers to the old firm:kader:
HellsideUltras 17-12-2003, 04:22:AM :funny: how sad, people always talking about scotland because they have like what 2 dominating teams out of 12 and other leagues have 2 dominating teams out of 20:kader:
or what? 17-12-2003, 04:24:AM I agree with you bhoy, and I am sure 99% of the members never see more than five Scottish league games a year

no they dont
HellsideUltras 17-12-2003, 04:58:AM some do:p :crazyboy:
Help? 17-12-2003, 05:39:AM Last season i watched scottish league every week and i still watchit's highlites and progress. You just can't deny that EPL is far more competitive, i mean when there are 2 teams out of 16 that both are by like 30+points ahead of 3rd place, that's what i call a league where other teams have no chances. Atleast in EPl the title contenders kind of change, betweem Liverpool NEwcastle and CHelsea in Scotland it's hasn't changed. I could relate to NOrwegian league and Rossenborg, but SPL is bigger than Norway league
Of coarse every league has dominators, but atleast not as strong as in SPL.
Jambo Den 17-12-2003, 06:03:AM You obviously get more highlights than we do then, with ours it's literally blink and you miss it! :((N)
But back onto the point. In the three Edinburgh debies last season the scores were:
Hearts 5-1 Hibs (MDV scoring 4 on his full debut,)
Hibs 1-2 Hearts (were 1-0 down until 88 mins - Stampy's winner came in the 93rd!)
Hearts 4-4 Hibs (Now considering this was 2-2 going into injury time (H))
I know this is hardly a league decider but some brilliant entertainment there I assure you. :)
SB9Dragon 17-12-2003, 06:25:AM Well the prob with most major derbies is that they are so hyped up that they are usually scrappy games. Its rare that great derbies occur. One that comes to mind is the Derby D'Italia between Juve and Inter. The last one was class :mrpimp:
HellsideUltras 17-12-2003, 06:28:AM it was class because your team inter won?:D :D
