I've decided to create a league with the MLS teams playing as San Jose Clash. Can someone let me know how the league is set up?
I.E. There are twelve teams, so do they play each other twice, four times or whatever, is there a finals series as in Australia? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

The MLS is set up in 2 conferences Eastern & Western. They play their conference opponents 4 times (2 home/2 away) and non-conference opponents twice (1 home/1 away). Then the top 4 teams in each conference play best of 3 series (1 seed versus 4 & 2 versus 3 then winners versus eahc other) to determine conference champions which play in the final. Yon can't quite set it up like that (at least not on PSX) but that's how it works. Goto www.mls.com for more info and all the schedules, scores etc...
Thanks
I reckon I can set it up in maybe two stages or something, I'll give it a go anyway.

Although just recently the league has set up into three divisions.
EAST - DC, Miami, New England, New York/New Jersey
CENTRAL - Chicago, Columbus, Dallas, Tampa Bay
WEST - Colorado, Kansas City, Los Angeles, San Jose
The playoffs will still be best of three, but will be recorded on points (win-loss-draw), although the MLS Cup final will still be one game.
I'm not sure how the regular season matchups will break down yet, but I'm sure that they'll announce that soon.
Basically, what I did in FIFA 2000 was to put the twelve MLS teams into a Custom League (and renamed the league MLS) and have the teams play each other 22 times, although I guess 44 would work as well. That's the best that can be done with FIFA 2000, I guess.
But at least in real life there's no more shootout, the clock will count up with the ref controlling time, and draws will stand. So the MLS in FIFA 2000 will play with the same rules that they'll play in real life in 2000! http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Mark,
About two months ago, the San Jose Clash officially changed its name to the San Jose Earthquakes (the same name as the old NASL team in San Jose way back when http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif ), along with their team colors, uniform, logo (badge), etc.
To get the San Jose Earthquakes' kits correct, please follow these directions (the Home Kit I've seen with my own eyes at the Earthquakes' press conference, while the Road Kit is my speculation on what I've been told it would very likely be, since the Road Kits haven't been revealed yet)... unfortunately, it won't have the team's logo on it or anything, but I hope that EA would correct that with a patch soon:
HOME JERSEY: Exactly like Arsenal of England, but change the color red to a royal blue
HOME SHORTS: It should be black shorts with white solid stripes both down the sides of the shorts and along the bottom edge of the shorts
HOME SOCKS: Solid blue color (same shade of blue as what's on the jersey)
AWAY JERSEY: Predominantly white, but with blue "outline" lines down the jersey... much the same way that Arsenal's black "outline" lines separate the red part of the jersey from the white part. The lines would be the same shade of blue that is on the home jersey
AWAY SHORTS: Solid white color (speculation)
AWAY SOCKS: Solid white color (speculation)
Also, you might as well rename the team to "San Jose", since "San Jose Earthquakes" doesn't seem to fit in the name box. http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/frown.gif
Hope that helps! http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif

Thanks for all that. I saw that the name had changed when I looked at the website, what is the reason for that?
I really don't know much about football in the US and the reason I chose San Jose Clash is because I'm a big fan of the old Punk band The Clash. I'll stick with them anyway in the game.
From all the info I have now I should be able to go through a season in stages even if I have to play some of the finals as friendlies.
Now that I have the website I'll check it out next season and try to learn a bit more about the game in the States.
