I haven't, but one of my friends said that when they pull it out its like they are ripping your jaw off but it doesn't hurt, and he said he didn't really have pain afterwards.

I am not to sure about how it would feel though, thats just what he told me. :)

It sucks because you have to be wary of what you can eat.

Is it true that your IQ drops 20 points when you get your wisdom tooth removed?:P

I've got a bit of a problem too as for some stupid reason my wisdom tooth grows horizontally against the back of my last tooth so I'm going to have to get the wisdom tooth removed. This is, it's still sort of in the gum so it's going to be real nasty I think and hurt like hell.

I had 2 taken out, and it hurts like hell. the dumbarse dentist gave me one injection, then started like 5 mins later, it hurt like hell, so gave me another, and waited another 5, it still hadn't really kicked in and the guy became impatient so went ahead anyway :|

you can actually feel the teeth being ripped out, and you hear it too.

bloody awful. i took two really strong pain killers, not the weak pansie crap they gave me :f***:

I think they end up being painful after a while. I'm not too sure on that though. My dad has never had his taken out but his teeth are really crooked because of the pressure the wisdom teeth put on the rest of the teeth.

I haven't had mine taken out but from some of the comments given by you guys I'm not too sure I want them taken out, especially Flyer's post. Damn man, you really puked blood?!?!? Yikes.

How many teeth does a person have excluding their wisdoms? I have 30 now so where does that put me? The last 2 at the bottom grew last year & they hurt like hell :(

The wisdom tooth is the 3rd molar, appearing behind ur original 2 molars anywhere between 18-25 yrs old....

I don't understand why many here r extracting them!! Did they hurt that bad??? Mine just hurt a bit for a while, then it came up normal... nothing felt now at all....

It's only normal for it to appear, if it hurt so bad, it means there's an infection happening at its site.... but it normally doesn't hurt THAT bad when its growing, to the extent of extracting it!

A little bit Mouth Hygeine needed when it starts growing... that's all...

I went to the dentist today for a cleaning, and she told me I'd have to come back to either get a route canal or extraction for one of my teeth :(

i was told asians usually have to have theirs extracted as their jaws are naturally smaller. food will get stuck between the wisdom tooth and the 2nd molar, causing decay eventually, and it's very dificult to clean that area. so what better time there is than to remove it now when i just finished my gce A's and in addition i need not study for 2 years ATM (H)

I had a wisdom tooth removed today. Don't see what all the fuzz is about. The actual removal didn't hurt at all. And now, 10 hrs later, it hurts just a little. I'm having a second one removed in a couple a weeks, after the wound I got now heals.

So, if you are about to remove one; don't worry. Piece of cake

My bro had to remove all four of them (left and right, upper and lower), and it hurt like hell, or so he told me...

I didn't need mine removed, partially because I don't have the lower ones (call me a freak, but I prefer the word evolution ;) )

I don't think I have upper ones, and my lower ones are comming in slower than glaciers. I'm 22 years old and haven't had any removed.

yeh kind of agree with Dan, i dont seem to have ANYTHING on the top, but on the bottom one has come all the way through (no pain) and the other one is coming through, sometimes i bite food accidently with it and it hurts, but really, no pain whatsoever.

I'd be shocked if i one day needed my bottom ones out.

tom:

I had thought the same as you. Since they didn't hurt t was okay. But I learned that just because they don't hurt they do a lot of damage. If they lie in an unnatural position, which most do, all kinds of bakteria and sh*t gathers around it and removes the bone around that area in the jaw. If you wait long enough, a lot of bone will be gone, and you will probably need to remove even more teeth, since the wisdom one fvcks up the one it is touching. You should get it x-rayed just in case, or else you might need much more dental work and that sh*t is expensive.
I got mine removed yesterday and I still can't feel any pain at all. It only hurts a little if I get unlucky and chew food where the tooth was removed.
