I don't think they're really that important is anyone making any patches out there so we can play with Benfica, Porto, Santos, Boca, River Plate instead of having those useless classic teams on the game...anyone aggress or am I the only one who doesn't like the classic teams...

I totaly agree. The classic teams are a waste of space. I would much rather play with current Portugese clubs, South American clubs, Mexican clubs. Please some one make a patch that overrites the classic teams.

I have to disagree. I like the classic teams and have had fun playing games with them. The next time I play I am going to set up a cup using only classic teams.

I agree and disagree. The classic teams are nice if the classic team you like is there. The rest are a waist. Like me, I dont give a **** about Liverpool in the 60's(no offence guys) but Brazil and Santos make me happy. I would like to download patches that would overwrite all those other classic teams that dont mean anything to us anyway, with classic or current teams that do.

i think classic teams are ok. If you or someone else wants to patch the roster with other teams, they should change the famouse EA teams, Saudi Arabian Teams, etc.. in rest of world category.

I like th idea of Classic team, but Stoichkov better then Puskas and the same as Pele...
And it is fun to play with Brazil of 70 at the first 10 times, but after that they are just faster players, nothing more, they didn't make special plays, special moves...
No feel...

I think the classic teams are pretty cool, like Santos and Brazil 58 and 70, but there are some classic teams that were not suppose to be there, like Romania, which is not even a classic!! What the hell have they done to soccer??

Playing a regular league, the results seemed pretty unrealistic. I hate how goal scoring and cards are accumulated for league, domestic cup and European cups. I've taken a liking to the Classic Teams because it is complete fantasy so I don't mind if the results are ridiculous. I have made a patch that adds more classic teams to the game. Since using these teams in a custom league, it's kept FIFA 2000 interesting for me. Perhaps it will do the same for some of you.

To Ronaldinho Gaucho, I think there is enough room in the game for both Classic Teams and the missing teams you mentioned.

Here is briefly, the teams my patch adds to FIFA 2000. The "Read Me" included in both English and Italian goes more into detail. I sent it to the guys at Soccer Gaming to make available for download but I'm not sure if it's up yet.

Milan 54-55
Milan 67-69
Nottingham Forest 78-80
Torino 46-49
Ajax 94/95
Borussia Dortmund 97
Inter 88-91
Juventus 59-61
Juventus 76-78
Juventus 94-98
Manchester United 98/99
Milan 94/94
Real Madrid 98
Sampdoria 89
Brasil 94
Croatia 98
France 98
Holland 98
Italy 94

If you download it, E-mail me and tell me what you think of it. As mentioned in the Read Me, I plan on adding more teams and updating it after some editing utilities become available.

Can you tell me how you decided on the ratings for the players on these teams?

Also Stoichkov was a pretty amazing player in his day, one of the best I seen, so who's to say he's overrated..

PolishPower,

If you are referring to the teams in the patch I listed above, I did the following:

Looked at the team's record and achievements, goals scored and goals against,
matches played by each player on each team, and at the # goals scored by each player. I was familiar with quite a few of them from either seeing them play or in the case of the older teams, I had to go on what I've heard and read.

Considering most of the Classic teams already present in FIFA 2000 have really high ratings I kind of had to set the ones I made to be able to compete with the EA ones. Meaning, I doubt the Torino team I made would have gotten blown out by any of the Classic club teams in the game if they were to somehow play in reality. But I also don't think Sampdoria 89 would've won against the old Real Madrid side included in F2000. So I kind of worked it that way. It's not perfect but I did do a huge amount of research before the game was even released and I hope I got them as accurate as possible. Hopefully I can update it soon with more teams, etc. I have a lot of initials of the players at the end of the last name because I am a fool and I thought I could use ME99 to put those initials in. Hopefully when a new utility comes along that allows that I'll be able to fix it. I just send it in for download now because I thought people might try it out.

I think Holland 1988 should be included in the classic team!

Wow you did a lot of work you should be commended. Do you have ability to post these teams and rosters in text form so we can make changes by editing the teams ourselves?,(this is for all those who have the PSX version of the game)

By the way I wish you made Juventus 82-85 this was the great team with Boniek and Platini that won their first European cup for those that don't know...

I messed up! Juventus 83-86 is in the patch but I didn't list it above and I didn't put it in the "Read Me" for some reason...

As for a text of rosters etc. that would take me some time. Right now, I have everything scribbled down in a notebook and I eventually planned on making it into some kind of database so I wouldn't have to look everything up again. So when I have time to do that, I'll send it to you. I doubt they'd really have a place for a file like that on this site, but if they start one, I'll put it there also.

As for Holland 88, it was no doubt a great team. Problem is, I don't have the resources right now to find out enough info on it. I do have the starting line up of a couple of the games they played, but the problem is filling out the roster to at least 16 players. I have the same problem with Porto 86/87, and just about all South American sides. I would like to include them in the game but I need the data on them. So if you know of a good website where I can find such information, pass it along to me. I know some of the club sides from Argentina and Brasil certainly deserve a place as well.

Somebaody give Vexapor some resources for the Holland 88 team, cause I want to play with one of the greatest teams of all-time, a side with Van Basten, Rijkaard, Gullit, Koeman, Wouters etc

Ok thanks in advance as far as text database,

I think I have the team picture of Porto 86/87 it was published in one of the Polish soccer magazines a few months back, I will look for it later, and let you know, I think that was the team with the Polish keeper Mlynarczyk, right? I could be wrong....

Granted Romania '94 is not perhaps what you'd call a classic team (though it was damn good and had in my opinion a decent chance of winning). But considering how much Fifa has been screwing over Eastern Europe (missing teams, no leagues, etc.), it's the least they could do for a part of the Old World that has been consistently producing great soccer, especially in the most recent decades.

AJAX supporter,

I have found some info on Holland 88 so I will be adding it to my Serie A and Classics patch sometime this week. The first version (sans Holland 88) is now available for download on the FIFA 2000 site.
