View Full Version : Van der Vaart dreams of Barca
ogsimon 24-12-2003, 09:51:PM http://skysports.planetfootball.com/article.asp?id=178625&cpid=23
I think he has mentioned this before, they are a huge club and if he came alog to save them he would be their king. if he went to barca, then they would have no more excuses. ronaldinho, saviola, kluivert, quaresma, van der vaart if you cant get champions league qualification with that:kader:
Ajax star Rafael van def Vaart has confirmed he will be leaving the Amsterdam giants in the summer, and admitted he is desperate for a move to Barcelona.
The Dutch international indicated that a move to Spain would be his priority, and revealed that he had always followed the Catalan outfit.
Van der Vaart has received no official contact from Barca as yet, but his words are sure to alert the club to the possibility of luring him to Camp Nou.
When asked in an interview with Sport if this would be his last season at the Amsterdam ArenA, he responded: "It's certain.
"Personally I think I am ready to leave Holland to play in another big European team.
"I have spent almost three years at Ajax and I think it is time for me to go to another place.
"Who knows if Barcelona will be that team?
"My grandmother is a big Barcelona fan, and I've never denied that I feel very close to their colours.
"If I do go to Spain I hope it will be to play for Barcelona, it's a club that attracts me hugely.
"Up until now, (I have heard) nothing (from Barcelona). I will wait until the season ends and then see what happens.
"I only hope my dreams come true.
"The Spanish league is the most attractive to me and just a little bit behind is the English Premier League.
"In Spain there are many great teams, and the football is very spectacular.
"There's a lot of competition, unlike in Holland where there are only three or four strong teams.
"In Spain you have a Madrid packed with very good players, a very dangerous Deportivo, a spectacular Valencia, but I always side with Barcelona."
The 20-year-old confirmed that various clubs had been in contact with Ajax regarding his situation, but insisted he was still a long way from deciding his future.
"There is nothing formal. Yes, it's certain clubs have been in contact with my current team to ask about me, but there is nothing serious at the moment."

I think he has mentioned this before [/i]
Its been known for a while now that Camp Nou is his dream destination.
Goodluck to him if he goes there.
A team with Puyol, Ronaldinho, Saviola, Kluivert should be winning the Champions League, let alone Qualification.
John_Arne_Riise 24-12-2003, 10:16:PM Its all a smoke screen for him coming to Anfield. Dont worry my fellow Liverpudlians. Dont worry at all. (H)

mark77 24-12-2003, 11:23:PM Who's place would he take if he goes to Barça? You have Saviola and Ronaldinho.
fender 24-12-2003, 11:30:PM Barca would be stupid if they don't get him.
VanTheMan 24-12-2003, 11:51:PM don't know why the barca hype still runs out there.even with all stars they don't have consistent performances.
van der vaart would suit the epl,as does the whole of dutch league and vice versa
what i mean to say is that he should go to......
ogsimon 25-12-2003, 12:07:AM barca are still a monster huge team
bbranco10 25-12-2003, 12:15:AM hes better than c ronaldo in shooting but c ronaldo has better moves and is faster.
pennington10 25-12-2003, 01:02:AM Why does everyone want to go to Barca. They don't seem to win it seems like a place for players to go and sun themselves. I think players just want to hanh out and barcelona and not play football.

sad, but I have the same feeling sometimes ....
talking about van der Vaart: It's always nice to have a young good player who wants to join Barça. He could be a good player for the team we'll build for next season.
There are also some news on the press about Barcelona and Liverpool swaping Overmars for Riise.
Pferd 25-12-2003, 01:32:AM Barcelona has history. alot of young players had dads who loved barcelona. my dad was a huge ajax and barcelona fan, because his favorite player was johan cruyff.
The Spainish League will suit van der Vaart, and if Barca don't make a bid after hearing this, well, you know, the rest is history.

He's pretty amazing.
Can play left mid, striker. Can pass, play with his back to net, run at players, take free kicks, and finish with the best of them.
Few weeks ago he was racing into the box with a man right on him, the cross came in behind him, so, naturally, he hit it with his heel as it passed behind him right into the far corner.
edit:
I was just watching a highlight show on TV, and he did the same thing again, but this one was more of a simultaneous handstand and heel flick/kick.:o
Vedran-10 25-12-2003, 07:52:AM Barca's a big club.They've hit a crisis which they'll get over.
Barca has a new team full of youngsters who will shine when they get older and have more experience. That's when Barca will be at the top again.
ZidaneCarlos 25-12-2003, 09:05:AM Barcelona will succeed only if they fire the coach and buy some good defence midfielders.

Dream Team 26-12-2003, 08:24:AM lol :funpost:
It's too difficult that Barça sign Van Der Vaart. IMO he is a great player, but is too much expensive, because Barça need to improve other positions before the side of Van Der Vart, where we have Ronaldinho. Barça need a striker and a left back and another centerback, and next, if it has enough money, then go to Van Der Vaart.
It's great to see many of the more wanted players wishing to go to Barcelona :). The reason is too easy, in the years 90 Barça was a top club (maybe the best :crazyboy:) and had great players. At that moment the players who want go to Barça was young and their idols perhaps were any Barça player or his favorite team was Barça and now those young players are 20~ years old and future stars who his child dream was to play in Barcelona.
ogsimon 04-01-2004, 06:33:PM turns out van der vaart is yet to make up his mind on a team.

Zlatan 04-01-2004, 08:46:PM I thought Barca was in money problems?
anyway, If he must leave I hope he'll go to a club in the EPL so I can still folow him on the telly.
But I'm more intrested in the price that the club who's gonna buy him is going to pay I hope its something around: 25 million euro, that's what he deserves

Some way or the other people will always talk about C. Ronaldo...
I don't think Van der Vaart is the best youngster really.....
Robinho and Tevez are better than him all right..... as for C. Ronaldo, well..... he just have to ripen his game, 'coz he'll always do better moves than Van der Vaart..... and he's quicker...

hummm, it depends..... but I'm not arguing with you right now, Van der Vaart is a better finisher and shooter than C. Ronaldo...... for now....
Zlatan 04-01-2004, 10:13:PM ahum Luis-Hoy, did you see his goal against Feyenoord? I think you'll change of thougts then

I saw that fantastic goal...... :wootman:
but that doesn't change my thoughts either.....
Zlatan 04-01-2004, 11:49:PM yes and now look at C. Ronaldo, did he ever scored such a brilliant goal?
and btw Rafael can do beautiful things with the ball to ;)
northstar 05-01-2004, 10:05:AM funny
no one really knew about C. Ronaldo before he went to Manure
but everyone knew of VDV. And VDV is allready proven to be top player in a good league, and has done well in the CL. C. Ronaldo has done dick all...so stop comparing them.
HellsideUltras 05-01-2004, 10:29:AM :D you said it dude:rolleyes:

Those kind of arguments don't convince people that make use of their rationality. But it's ok for you to use them anyway... ;)
I'm not saying you're wrong. I agree that VdV has more recognition and that, right now, he is playing better than Cristiano Ronaldo.... but really guys, that's not my point...
A more attentive reading to my posts would help you understand what I'm trying to say.... ;)
