View Full Version : The Founders Cup Pontefract City 30-12-2003, 01:28:AM Well how did you all fare in round 1? I managed to win 6-3 away from home against a fairly inactive division 7 Swedish team. pauly 30-12-2003, 01:32:AM No game, I had a bye. phippard's Everton Eagles are out, got hammered 5-0 at home by a Swede. That's the only other result I know about. pauly 30-12-2003, 01:34:AM 9983 teams entered. 13 rounds means 8192 teams exactly, so about 1791 teams need to be knocked out before we get the right number. Or something like that! Bluecoaster 30-12-2003, 03:34:AM I had a bye. Blue Ash 30-12-2003, 07:08:AM I got a bye too. I wonder how they decided which teams got a bye? Essendon BFC 30-12-2003, 07:36:AM lol I know nothing about hockey and my tactics are crap. Im expecting to get my arse kicked my a swede. Glorious 30-12-2003, 01:01:PM yeah same i just hope i win! Budge 30-12-2003, 01:13:PM mwahahaha 10-1 thumping...im out Glorious 30-12-2003, 01:19:PM you need a lot of work on your team! :p My match is 2morrow :O Essendon BFC 30-12-2003, 01:40:PM The Last 2 league Matches I have played I have lost 7-1 and 5-1. So in a cup Im expecting to lose by more. Im playing a Division 7 Swedish Team. Expecting to lose by 5 goals. kangle4 30-12-2003, 02:01:PM it is a rip off that some teams get a bye and others have to play, mz hockey is stupid and not just for this reason!!! Essendon BFC 30-12-2003, 02:14:PM That happens in MZ Soccer to. Pontefract City 30-12-2003, 07:00:PM Well I ain't complaining because: A) I got quite a straightforward task so a comfortable win B) I got ranking points Ash 30-12-2003, 09:54:PM yeh I'd rather have played than had a bye. An extra game so extra money. Not bothered by ranking points though. Bluecoaster 31-12-2003, 09:19:AM Agreed...after straight 7 league losses, my ranking just CAN'T be good :D Blue pauly 31-12-2003, 07:27:PM A fantasic 6-4 victory for Bethnal Gren and Hackney! Essendon BFC 31-12-2003, 07:45:PM Lost 8-0:D DasKlee 31-12-2003, 08:33:PM just advanced to round 3 with a huge 10:0 away win against a weak romainian team :rockman: which looked kind of inactive to me... i hope i won't play against a swedish team in the next round... Ash 31-12-2003, 08:42:PM I lost 4-3 away against some Belgium team. I probably would have won it if it was at home. :( They were winning 3-0, before I pulled it back to 3-3. But they scored a winner in Period 4 (is that like extra time?) DasKlee 31-12-2003, 08:47:PM i guess it's some kind of sudden death overtime but it could also be a little bug.. i had 2 friendly league games where it said 'Period 4' even though the games were no draws... pauly 31-12-2003, 08:51:PM Yeah Ash, it's sudden death extra time. Unlucky mate Bluecoaster 31-12-2003, 09:55:PM HAHAHHA WON 5-4 against a Swedish 6th DIV team...he was like unbeaten in league and his last 8 friendlies...rofl...go me!! Blue Pontefract City 31-12-2003, 10:44:PM Another Div 7 Swedish team, another victory. 7-2 win at home this time. I've got further than my football team has ever got in a cup! chris boston 01-01-2004, 11:20:PM I won 2-3 and 5-4. DasKlee 02-01-2004, 12:47:AM i guess i'll be out tomorrow - i'm playing against the #18 ranked team, HC lieto, in the next round - they were just promoted into the finnish SM-Liiga and are their #1 ranked team.... Mutt 02-01-2004, 04:39:AM had a bye then won 6-2 .... which considering my previous matches were 7-1 11-2 9-1 7-0 all against me... i perform well on the big stage i guess.. pauly 02-01-2004, 07:20:PM A convincing 8-3 win. Away from home again to a decent ranked American chap. Hope I get a home game now just for that bit of extra money. DasKlee 02-01-2004, 08:02:PM my cup run ended in round 3 - a closer loss than expected, but still a 2-3 loss against the finnish #1 ranked HC lieto... i guess i have to concentrate on winning my last league game and not getting relegated to div.2 Mutt 02-01-2004, 08:40:PM ok so much for my team performing well on the big stage.. lost 12-1 to a team ranked 18,000 ... hockey still doesnt have a pattern to it... Pontefract City 02-01-2004, 09:19:PM Beat a div 2 Danish team ranked at 122, 5-1 at home. Heh, I'm suprising myself  Bluecoaster 02-01-2004, 11:47:PM A close 4-5 loss...oh well :) Blue D-12 03-01-2004, 01:34:AM i won 3-4 and lost 2-7 very good IMO because i dont understand hockey :D chris boston 03-01-2004, 05:02:AM I won 7-3, at the third time of asking, a win by more than the odd goal. ;) pauly 04-01-2004, 03:48:AM Bloody away game again! That's 3 in a row now:rolleyes: This time it's against a German division 1 team DasKlee 04-01-2004, 05:08:AM from what i know, the income frome cup matches will be shared between both teams, so i guess having a home game isn't so important because the home advantage doesn't make a very big difference - in a lot of friendly games i played, i won away and only managed a draw at home against the same team in the same formation... who are you playing against pauly? i just checked and found out that my next league opponent is still in the cup - Flaschenkönig HC from Div.1.1 in germany.... i hope i beat them tomorrow to avoid relegation pauly 04-01-2004, 04:44:PM I'm playing Spanish Inquisition DasKlee. You do share the gate receipts, but you get nothing for the facilities. I would probably have had another £20000 if I had 3 home games, never mind anyway. DasKlee 04-01-2004, 07:16:PM oh i didn't know that. i thought the whole income of a cup game would be shared.... Pontefract City 04-01-2004, 07:46:PM I have Claxton Cline Chesnuts...I'd like to say they're a small Welsh mining village team - they sound like it - but they're a div 5 Swedish team ranked around the 1k mark. Not bad a chance of getting through, will be tight whatever happens. Oh yeah and it's away! Pontefract City 06-01-2004, 12:32:AM Somehow I managed to lose to them 8-0! Certainly shouldn't have been 8-0 though they deserved to win it anyway. I have a 5 puck goalie as well and that was against a div 5 Swedish team:confused: . Looks like the Swedes already have taken advantage of a bigger domestic market and seized some good players. I knew one of the away games would screw me up eventually. :kader: Unhappy at my team...extra training needed. Match results are pretty erratic in hockey atm so I can't exactly dub my team losers. pauly 06-01-2004, 12:32:AM I won again, all over them, but only won 3-2, all their players were knackered but I still couldn't score more! Please please please can I have a home game? chris boston 06-01-2004, 12:34:AM Lost 9-3 away to a team ranked #9 and bound to go up in rank with the win ... damn, my keeper really sucks. :( Might just buy some good foreinger until my English keepers train up and then flog the foreigner. pauly 08-01-2004, 12:07:AM Lost 8-3 against an excellent Swedish 6th team. How, when everybody started at the same time, can some teams players be superb already? Tajike 08-01-2004, 09:30:PM My cup run... 1st round: bye... 2nd round: Won 7-2 against a Swedish team... 3th round: Lost 6-2 to an Argentinian team... |
