So who will start? I'm guessing Keown will step in for Adams.
England team coach Kevin Keegan has ruled out Steve McManaman and Tony Adams from his team's crucial EURO 2000™ clash with Germany in Charleroi on Saturday evening. Both players picked up injuries in England's defeat by Portugal in their opening Group A clash. Meanwhile, Keegan remained optimistic about England's chances of advancing to the quarter-finals, re-iterating his belief that his team could yet win the group.
Impending scans
Adams picked up a calf strain and is likely to miss England's two remaining group matches, while McManaman has suffered a recurrence of a knee injury.
"The players are both going for scans in Liège and after the results we will see how they stand, " Keegan stated at a Press Conference earlier today.
"It's a problem he's had before and he seems less worried about it than we do but the Germany game will come too soon."
