View Full Version : Howard Dean's "yell"
#1 Stunna 22-01-2004, 03:49:AM How many guys here heard his little speech from a few days ago?
Where he says something like:
"we're gonna go to Arizona, North Dakota, (names more states)...and to Washington DC and take back the Whitehouse."
Then he does this yell...sort of like when you yell out "Yeah"...but what came out of his mouth was the funniest sound I've ever heard, i cant even describe it...but it was so damn funny! :D
Its a sound effect now on the Howard Stern show. (Y) :D
HalfLife 22-01-2004, 03:51:AM I think he thought he was on WWE Smackdown or something. It was pretty funny.

zul-aid 22-01-2004, 06:29:AM Well the man is fired up.
Dean Supporters, Don't Give Up ... from Michael Moore
This morning I picked up the newspaper and read this quote from a young woman who had worked as a volunteer for Howard Dean in Iowa:
"All the phone-calling we did, we'd have people who’d say, 'I'm a Dean supporter, I’m a Dean supporter,’" said Kelly Chambers, Dr. Dean's captain in Precinct No. 83. "But when it came to caucus night, we only had 11 people show up for Dean. It just seems like all my hard work's been for nothing."
I was crushed when I read this. Her despair, her sense of "what's the use?" was something I'm sure many Dean supporters are feeling today. I can see, just from surfing the web, the debilitating affect the landslide loss in Iowa had on so many people who had placed so much hope in the man who created a grassroots revolution and was unrelenting in his attacks on Bush and on the war. If having the most volunteers, the most money (all small contributions from average citizens), and the boldest message can't win an election, say Dean's followers, then we might as well just give up.
As one who does not support Dean, I would like to say this to you: DON'T GIVE UP. You have done an incredible thing. You inspired an entire nation to stand up to George W. Bush. Your impact on this election will be felt for years to come. Every bit of energy you put into Dr. Dean's candidacy was -- and is -- worth it. He took on Bush when others wouldn't. He put corporate America on notice that he is coming after them. And he called the Democrats out for what they truly are: a bunch of spineless, wishy-washy appeasers who have sold out the working people of America. Everyone in every campaign owes you and your candidate a huge debt of thanks.
Though I am backing Clark because I personally prefer his manner and his stands on everything from jailing polluters to taxing the rich (not to mention his electability), the worst thing that could happen now would be for the Dean revolution to come to an end. If you have backed or worked for Dean, you must understand the remarkable things you have done and what you have accomplished:
1. 55% of those who voted in Iowa on Monday said that this was the FIRST TIME they had ever voted in a Caucus!!! That is a STUNNING statistic. Although the vast majority ended up going for Kerry and Edwards, I am convinced that the electorate in that state was invigorated by the Dean campaign -- whose entire message was that you CAN make a difference. Just the fact that you have people thinking this way is a gift you have given to America, a nation where the majority, in the past, have given up and refused to vote. I believe that you and Howard Dean will be credited with waking up a near-dead voting public. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
2. On top of first time voters, the overall turnout in Iowa was DOUBLE what it was four years ago. DOUBLE! To double the number of Democrats who showed up in Iowa this week means that many independents, Greens, and former Republicans have seen enough of the mess created by George W. Bush. And it was Dean in Iowa who, until the attack ads against him began, focused his whole campaign on educating voters on what the Bush presidency has truly done to America. The number one reason people gave last night for coming out in zero-degree weather in Iowa, ahead of the war and the economy and health care, was "Bush must go." This can only mean good things for the turnout come next November.
3. The number of young people -- the age group with historically the lowest percentage of voters -- also doubled on Monday night. Again, you have to credit the Deaniacs for this. Thousands of young people from around the country poured into Iowa to knock on doors and talk politics. Although Kerry and Edwards got the youth vote, I believe it was the Dean youth who made it cool to be political again, and the effect of their enthusiasm was contagious.
4. 75% of those voting in Iowa said that they are "anti-war." And who do we have to thank for that? Howard Dean and Dennis Kucinich. They put the war and its illegality and immorality on the Iowa map in this election year. They pushed Kerry and the rest to take strong anti-war stands (even though Kerry, et. al. had initially voted for the war). Some changed their positions, which we welcomed (Edwards and Kerry voted against the $87 billion Bush got to continue the war). Although Kerry got the most anti-war votes and Dean and Edwards split the rest, Dean was the man who converted them. Those who chugged through the streets and farms of Iowa preaching peace deserve our gratitude.
Of course, the problem here, as I pointed out with all due respect in my last letter, is that for whatever reason, Dean himself is not going to give middle America the comfort level they need in choosing who they want in the Oval Office. Dean, as good and as right as he is, just isn't the man, on a personal level, to get Job One done: Bush Removal. That's OK. Moses was not allowed into the Promised Land. But he was still Moses.
So, we now have two Democratic candidates at the top who voted for the war. We have two at the bottom who have been anti-war -- Kucinich, who got 1% of the vote in Iowa and Al Sharpton who got 0%. And then we have Howard Dean who, after a year of campaigning in every Iowa county (where it seemed practically everyone met him at least once), could only scrape together 18% of the delegates.
And then there is Wesley Clark, who is backed by George McGovern, the anti-Vietnam War presidential candidate and the conscience of a generation. He said Clark is the one candidate whose plan will end the war and bring the troops home. Clark may be, now, the anti-war vote's best chance. I believe he is.
But in the meantime, let's tip our hats to Deaniacs everywhere. They've set the tone and the bar and have jump-started the movement to save our country. Good friends in the Dean camp, please don't give up. We need you now and we will need you in November. And, to Precinct 83 Captain Kelly Chambers, all your hard work has NOT been in vain. We cannot win without you.
One year from today, at 12:01 PM, Bush leaves office. But only if the revolution you ignited continues beyond this week.
Yours,
Michael Moore
Elder 22-01-2004, 06:34:AM And now Howard Dean is down 10 points in New Hampshire.
Your "anti war" fight is over my friends. The guy getting the votes now voted for the war, not against it.
Guys like Dean and Kucinich don't represent many people in this country, and I doubt they could represent many people in the world either. Maybe they can run for President of the "bash America, We hate Bush" soccer gaming boards.
There are enough of you here to vote for him, just thankfully not many in this country who would.
Hugo-45-Viana 22-01-2004, 06:48:AM Dude are you that ******* stupid?
Country with nuclear weapons accuses country of having nuclear weapons. Country with nuclear weapons invades accused country.

You've missed sight of the reasons he gave YOU an AMERICAN as to why the USA should invade. So they caught some jackasses who weren't capable of bull ****, CONGRATULATIONS! I'm sure it was worth the lives of those who went to fight the war for you.
Anyways, I just saw the yell on the daily show repeat from last night. FUNNY ****! The way he said the states was really funny he was kind of rhyming them a bit lol. :crazyboy:

But seriously, I thought The Daily Show's summary of his rant was ace. It went roughly like this:
Originally said by Jon Stewart on The Daily Show
He will drive to each of the states he mentioned in Truckasaurus, this SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY!
Classic, just classic. As for me, I'm uncommitted. I don't care who gets the nomination, just as long as he beats the sh*t out of Dubya the Dumbass on Election Day.

Dean's only downfall was that he actually spoke the truth. He says the United States is no safer today now that Saddam is in prison and the media rips him a new one. Dean says Bush may have known about 9-11 before hand and the media rips him a new one. Dean says he believes we can't pronounce bin Laden guilty until a FAIR trial and the media rips him a new one for it. On the other hand you've got President Bush that LIES about going to war with Iraq, kills over 500 US troops and massacres 10,000+ Iraqis and they don't say a word. You've got President Bush whoring out the White House to corporations - giving them tax-cuts, while taking money away from the poor and they don't say a word.
The moral of the story is clear; NEVER tell the truth - always buff your image up or the media and voters will eat ya' alive. They respect liars. They respect Bush for lying about the war in Iraq; they respected Clinton for lying about a BJ; they respected Reagan for lying about every DAMN thing; they respected Nixon about lying over Watergate. Lets hope you are wrong. Another four years of Bush is the worst possible outcome. It has been proven that he took the US to war on faulty evidence, he has presided over two failed invasions (unless you count ensuring the access and transport of oil as successes), the biggest attack on American soil in history, and has managed to ensure that more people than ever hate the USA.
Good stuff, Georgie (Y)
Just imagine what he could do with another term.
Good to see that Kerry is ahead of Bush in some polls, I am not a particular fan of him but anyone has to be better than Bush.

You sound like a bad parody of Howard Dean. Start using your own mind, and quit letting these stupid politicians talk for you.
The problem with Dean saying those things, and people like you repeating them here, is that MOST people don't agree with you and think people who say things like "Let's give Osama a fair trial." Man, hang that son of a bitch in the middle of New York city. THAT'S what people in this country want to see, not some puke from the Northeast tell them about fair trials of Osama.
And it's still not proven Bush lied about anything. So get over yourself.

None of these Democrats have a shot at beating Bush at this point in time. Democrats CANNOT win in the south because of how anti-religion/anti family/anti gun/anti "the America that southerners love" they have become.
Plus I still think there is a surprise in the works for Bush, and that invloves Cheney stepping downa nd Rudi Guliani taking the spot of the Vice Preisdential candidate.
If that happens, Democrats won't have the presidency for a long time.

Just wait and see. It might not happen, but if the Republican party was smart, they would do it. It's obvious by your comment that you have no clue as to how politics works. Just think of how easy it would be to get rid of Cheney... Think of what you anti war folks would argue about then... I mean come on, no more "the war was for Halliburton" lines!

I personally would not be surprised to see Cheney step down, or be nudged in that direction. Of all the people in the administration, he is the one with the most dodgy connections. Several CIA staffers have alleged that he was the one bearing on them to edit the intelligence to fit the Administrations position on WMD in Iraq, he has connections to Halliburton which is embroiled in several fiascos regarding overcharging for services in Iraq, and he is the subject of other investigations.
Gulliani, I have no idea whether he would undertake such a risk as to be identified with Bush and his failures, especially after being feted for his post-9/11 performance, and he would do best to leave that as his political legacy.

You see, Rhizome gets the point.
Gulliani actively campaigns FOR Bush all over the place, and the Republican convention is in New York this year... it all sets it up perfectly.
The argument for Gulliani becoming Vice President is that Hitlary Clinton is probably running for President in 2008, and it would set up a "rematch" of the Senate campaign they had a few years back against each other. Only he had to drop out because of cancer.
Lord save us all if Hillary ever becomes President.

Solo Inter 30-01-2004, 09:10:PM Yeah it sucks, any democrat is going to have a hard time getting votes amoung the southern bible belters.
All Bush has to say is that he reads the bible every night, cut taxes and these poeple don't care about the rest.
My friend Wes who sits in the cubicle next to me is a perfect ex. He is very religious(like he's gonna be a preacher), which is cool with me, he's a really nice person.
Some things bother me about Wes though, he tells me"I don't watch the news or read newspapers, its liberally biased", and he even told me that he doesn't really know too much about the conflict in Iraq.
He also tells me, don't judge poeple, you should never judge poeple (as I'm spouting about George Bush). Now I didn't ask him cause I know the answer. But how the f*ck can you vote (he will vote for Bush) and not know or care about any of the issues. And if you won't pass judgement on the candidates, how do you decide how to vote.
It goes back to my second sentence, its really sad and scares the sh!t out of me.
But it doesn't really matter, electoral college and all.
Solo Inter 30-01-2004, 09:16:PM I don't think I agree about no democrat having a chance. At this point, I think Roger Rabbit would have a chance against Bush.
He barely won the last election. What I am hoping for is that many of the poeple who didn't vote (me and lots of others I have spoken to) will show up, along with all of the Nader voters, and vote against Bush. If this happens, we could see a victory (at least in the popular vote) for a democrat.
I really don't think Bush has gained any more supporters in his 4 years in office.

Thoss evil bible belters. The reason why no Democrat will win the south is more than just that issue. Many southerners believe in God and like to tell people about it. Northern Catholica are totally different and don't talk about their faith much. Until people like Dean come out and say "well, when I go to the south I am going to talk about the confederate flag and about God." That just pisses people off and shows what scum the democratic party has become.
And if you don't believe the media is bias, then you should do some research into it. It's not that the media is purposefully bias, but the peope who make the stories, edit copy and what not are liberal and write and do news stories from their point of view. They don't think it's wrong obviously, because they already agree with it! And I think like 90 percent of reporters voted for Gore last election...
But that's why I like the internet. You can get different points of view.

I don't think I agree about no democrat having a chance.
He gained a hell of a lot of voters.. BUT, he lost many in his party because of his rapid spending and welfare state proposals. Not to mention the amnesty for illegal immigrants. That's why I can never understand democrats whining about how he cuts health care and all this crap.. It's such BS, and everyone knows it.

I haven't heard that Kerry is ahead of Bush. Maybe that is the case in certain states, but I am guessing right now that Bush would still have a lead over any Democratic candidate.
My my my, and still the trend continues... this CNN/ USA Today poll has Kerry ahead of Bush 53 to 46 per cent. http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/02/02/elec04.poll.prez/
Turnout in the primaries has been 20 per cent of Democrats, double what pundits were expecting, so it just goes to show the depth of felling against Bush that may exist...
Maybe a Kerry/ Edwards ticket has a chance of unseating the neocons from office.

It's very possible, but not because of democrats and their hatred for Bush. Bush will lose because he has alienated most of his base voters by being the biggest spending President in history. Someone should have run against him, because I guess he just thinks the right will vote for him no matter what. Well, Republicans aren't so willing to go along with people they don't agree with.

Either way suits me. And it is not so much getting rid of Bush, but the rag tag bunch he has assembled around him. Cheney Rumsfeld Rice et al. The sooner they leave office the better.

relief* :p
rhizome17 05-02-2004, 01:46:AM Well, they were the ones bawling the loudest about Iraq and WMD. And the fact remains they were wrong. Put simply, their argument fails even a simple cost-benefit analysis. Their position now is that the war was justified because of some hypothetical threat Saddam might pose in the future should sanctions be removed.
Dumbasses. For the sanctions to be removed would have required a UN vote. The US can exercise their veto :| and stop the sanctions being lifted :|.
xxxFLYERxxx 05-02-2004, 02:08:AM Kerry is just a scary looking guy.
Honestly, Wesley Clarke is the only one that actually establishes dominance.

I'm with you on Cheney. I think he needs to go. Rumsfeld is too old and he should just retire. Otherwise, I like him.
Bobby 05-02-2004, 03:01:AM heh, Sharpton beat Dean in south carolina.

Those stats surprise me, but I still have my money on Bush winning.
A Kerry/Edwards ticket would have a chance though because Edwards (a southerner) could help Kerry get votes in the South.
Bobby 05-02-2004, 04:03:AM I'm surprised Edwards is around, he has one more 'gimme state', north carolina.
He won't win tho, his best bet is being VP.

That's too bad. He was the only one of the whole group who didn't change his opinions and policy ideas with each different group of voters he talked with.

Did you already forget about election 2000? Um, Lieberman had a stake in who won that election, and said Bush stole the election. He's hardly a supporter... But being Jewish, of course he was against Saddam.. who funded suicide bombers in Israel.
Duh Moron. ;)
