View Full Version : SG Artists Help Venezuelan soccer's image
QuikZilver 22-01-2004, 09:07:AM For years we have been forsaken with this ugly badge as representative of our Football nation. This was ok when Baseball, and Basketball where number 1 & 2 sports. Now our game has evolve and this plain and boring badge must go. Can you guys help us out with something fresh and new, you know that type off stuff you guys always do.
$teauA 22-01-2004, 09:19:AM its not like the venezuelan federation is gonna look in the SG forums and use one of the logos we make  so whats the point??

ok sorry then :(
QuikZilver 22-01-2004, 11:10:AM Nope a group of us want to unite some logos and send them to them. They are not impossible to get in touch with. You can even go to their headquarter and speak with a representative.
::Jason:: 22-01-2004, 11:54:AM professionally made vector logos can prove quite expensive.

Make the logo semi large and we could covert it to vector with not too much difficulty *looks at vector threads in forum*
PhiLLer 22-01-2004, 06:03:PM I'm not going to make a logo for the Venezuelan FA for free...
::Jason:: 22-01-2004, 06:39:PM I wasn't going to make anything.
there's many Russian vector artists, that might even work for free! ;)
the communism.. :bob:

No they're not, graphic design is a terribly underpaid profession. The guy who made the logo for the company I work for only charged $150, and that included designing business cards and all our letterhead.
a logo like this isn't worth more than like 50 bucks...I'd do it for free in a heartbeat if I knew I'd be credited for it.
::Jason:: 22-01-2004, 07:06:PM 50 bucks is quite alot for quikzilver to pay ;)
I see your point, but atleast here in Finland, designers often leach big sums of money from companies on designs. the competition ain't so fierce around here.

That might be in Canada but I know that professional (good) graphic designers can charge something like 100 euro an hour (roughly $100 US) with logo design I know some logos cost a few hundred to make as well as some websites being 8000 euro and it's not even that great. I also heard that http://www.hostrocket.com/ cost around 50 grand to make, whether that's true or not, I don't know but in Europe Graphic/web design is a profession that pays extrememly well if you know what your doing and you've got a good reputation.
Obviously to build up a reputation you might have to take "pay cuts" here and there but once you gain that reputation you can bloody overcharge anywhere you want to...
::Jason:: 22-01-2004, 08:48:PM yeah, shinji, you should consider moving back to Portugal huh? ;)

So where do you work now Phil? Or you still in college? Are you thinking of going pro with graphics and stuff?
The pay for commercial designers is sh*t here.... Sometimes when I think about what I wanna do in the future, I do think about something related to graphics but the money puts me off. Now, you could say that I should do what I enjoy doing, but naw, that's not me. I'd rather have a boring job and earn good money and then when I'm filthy rich I can do graphics in my spare time :brow:
PhiLLer 23-01-2004, 06:41:AM I'm studying Creative Media, Kader. Which is graphics, web design, web coding, animation, video editing...well, everything creative and media really but graphics is a major part of that.:p
I actually wanna go more specific on 3D/Animation though this involves graphics too and I might combine the two or something, not really sure yet.
You should do graphics though, the money isn't all that bad plus if you get more popular you can go international and then your really earning big money. But obviously getting started is never just a matter of 1,2,3...snap yer fingers and off you go...unfortunately:p

why, I have no interest in graphic design as a profession..graphic and web designers are a dime a dozen around here..
I can make a lot more doing landscape architecture, and I don't have to take sh!t jobs for years until I build a "name" like in graphic design. I gross just over $2200/month and I'm still considered a junior designer at my company.

Now is my math bollocks or is that 26,400 per year?
Seriously, that's terrible :( Teachers get paid more than that... I don't see how I could support my family with that :$

lol, that's "gross" pay wich means what I have left over after income taxes, deductions for benefits, pension plan, etc. my actual salary is a lot higher that 26, 400...I don't want to give exact numbers but it's in the low 40's. Which is good for someone who's only been out of college for a couple years...there's potential for a lot more ofcourse, but that comes with experience..
Gerrard 17 23-01-2004, 07:39:AM ahh ok thats not too bad then! :D
how much do you have leftover after paying for housing, food, etc. if you don't mind me asking? :$
::shinji:: 23-01-2004, 07:47:AM after rent, food, gas, etc etc....umm, I dunno, depends on the month but maybe around 500-600? Me and the spouse share costs so it's hard to figure exact numbers..
I don't save as much as I could though because I buy a lot of toys I don't need, like MP3 players, palm pilots, blackberry, etc.
::Jason:: 23-01-2004, 12:01:PM oh, now I remember that architechture thing.. you once showed pics of a bar or something if I remember correctly..
26k$ is a good gross wage if you like the job..
I'd like to go pro on multimedia things, since I have already done almost everything relating to multimedia (video editing, sound editing etc.) and the payments are quite good around here, especially on the AD department.
PhiLLer 23-01-2004, 04:52:PM I think the most important thing is that you do something you enjoy. Obviously money does matter because believe it or not, you simply can't do without it nowadays but I would much rather be going to my job with pleasure every morning and perhaps earn a few hundred bob less than dragging myself out of bed every morning and not being able to wait till I get home...that's torture. But obviously I'd want decent wages, don't we all.:D
QuikZilver 24-01-2004, 07:18:AM I ddint know it was that complicated, I might have to crank up the old photoshop myself. Thanx for the help anyways.
wat3rf0x 24-01-2004, 09:18:AM I think that old badge is really nice. No need for a change.
Glorious 24-01-2004, 02:32:PM i like the logo at the moment but i suppose it can be better :)
