View Full Version : No FIFA 2005?
carvasd 28-01-2004, 09:45:PM According to http://ps2.ign.com report on EA Q3 financial report, maybe there wont be a FIFA 2005, since EA announced "leap-year sequels" for its "big name franchises":
The company plans to release new sequels in a leap-year fashion, where sequels to its big name franchises would come out two years after the last one instead of yearly (for example: NBA Street Vol. 3 would be on store shelves in 2005).

dre1988 28-01-2004, 09:58:PM Give me QUALITY over quantity any time!
bizzy3008 28-01-2004, 10:19:PM yeah, if they have more time to develop their product, maybe they can give us a FINISHED game for a change....
carvasd 28-01-2004, 10:45:PM well I've to agree on that ....
I've been suggesting this for years now...
Well if this is going to be the case they definatly need to add some sort of editors where it allows you to change players around ect., or maybe for Xbox and PS2 online, they should make a package where by you connect and download somthing that updates your Fifa kits + sqauds.
CForceForever 28-01-2004, 11:06:PM Someone misread that article...try rereading it again, it's said nothing to that asortment of what you had thought...
It was boasting it's products & it's decision to drop the price of XBox & PS2 games, of which is very good news.
What does that have to do with what you guys are discussing may happen, it doesn't, just be positive & stop the negativity...

TristanAbbott7 29-01-2004, 09:12:AM Good grief. So you've got to get two years gameplay out of that box of $hit? Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!

Johny24 29-01-2004, 11:26:AM This is going to make all the fifa 2004 lovers hate the game stupid tactic of EA they are going to make everyone run away from Fifa 2004 and more people would start to convert to PES/Winnig eleven games. If no Fifa 2005 then bye bye fifa and hello PES 4
P.s. HAHAHAHAHAHA Fifa editors are so stupid now they are reallly goign to loose money:crazyboy: :crazyboy:

cwhein 29-01-2004, 07:44:PM I've been suggesting 2-year development cycles for sports games for the last few years. In the off-year companies should release roster updates and extra tournaments, teams and stadiums.
I have no idea why folks love PES3 so much. Personally, I think the game sucks.

Well mate you obviously do not know what real footy feels or looks like, cause PES/WE is the ONLY game that simulates it.. and with all the patching, real kits, real players.. FIFA holds NO advantage.
Corcky 29-01-2004, 08:11:PM Thats probably why you have to use the game time card to play online, as it runs out after one year and if you want to carry on playing online then you will have to pay. It's another way of EA squeezing money out of us even if they don't release Fifa every year.
theCRO 29-01-2004, 09:17:PM Razov,
try to play it....you'll be regretting those words if you are a true football fan. If you're a 9 year old fanboy you prolly think you're pretty clever :)
TristanAbbott7 29-01-2004, 10:09:PM You have to remember Gascoigne, that FIFA fans are used to "sweet spots" in their games so if they can't score the same goal whenever they get in trouble in their game then "it sucks". Most of them would hate PES3 because they have to play it like a real game of soccer with patience, tactics and realism. They'd rather hit 40-45 yard shots that go in past static goalkeepers 80% of the time while they make physically impossible saves when the ball is blasted at light speed from 6 yards out.
Oh, take into account the d/l of the correct team/players names for PES3 takes a whole 30 seconds which is too much for them despite the fact they end up having to apply about 20 "realism" patches a year to their FIFA games just to make the game a fraction as realistic as FIFA 98 from 6 years ago! It's a pity the players bodies in FIFA 2004 aren't as realistic as back then too - have you seen the bodys this year? Burn victim crossed with the Roswell alien!
You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink......

Hey so true... oh well they are blind... and unless they only have a xbox and no pc, there is NO reason why they are still playing FIFA, unless they are just plain silly.
and Linpa people that play soccer all the time, watch it follow it know without any doubts that FIFA 99-2004 have very little in common with real soccer. There is only one choice if you want game that simulates soccer 100%, and brings you into the depth of the true game... and thats PES/WE. There is NO other game that even comes close.

carvasd 30-01-2004, 04:41:AM PEOPLE... when did this thread become a "FIFA vs PES" thread???? Why don’t you step outside, kick the $hit out of each other (as if the subject matters that much) and then come back and participate on some threads with constructive commentary…
hey! even someone suggested EA is asking for money so that people can play FIFA online... HUH???? ... we even get lies in here... common people!!!, grow up…

thanks Matt
Corcky 30-01-2004, 07:00:AM Carvasd, If you do play online you should have entered a code which you got when you bought the game. This code gives you one free season of online play after that EA will charge a monthly fee to play online. Most people will have bought the game when it first came out in November 03 so if EA dont release Fifa 2005 and people still want to play Fifa 2004 online then they will have to pay
tcymatthew 30-01-2004, 07:45:AM i think EA is going to make a super good game in fifa2006!
Do you know that every 4 years (the years of world cup),all
national team will appear in fifa game???
So this waste a lot of time to do this great job,
i know that many people complain the EA's product in fifa2002
(many player's name are lost).........
So,it's good to stop creating fifa2005 :D
shevacrazy07 30-01-2004, 09:22:AM this leap year idea....eh.....probably gonna hurt EA, I still don't believe that it will be A LOT better, even with an extra year to create the next FIFA, i just dont think EA can do it. Waiting one full year for the next version is going to be hell, and there will definitely be people trying the PES and Winning Elevens during this time and many of those who try them will drop FIFA and switch to PES & WE. I really feel that EA will disappoint us again if they do go on with this plan, i just dont see them creating a PES/WE gameplay type game...sorry :(
Dont get me wrong, im a huge FIFA fan and being in the USA, I can't play any other soccer titles, but i sure will appreciate quality over quantity ;)
F.C.B player 30-01-2004, 09:40:AM ya i agree but inbetween ea will probably hopefully come out with an in depth Euro 2004 that in it u can manage your country all the way to the championship and call players and drop players from their club. i hope if this kinda thing happens problems with show up like they dont want to come to the national team or the player is really good and the manager doesnt want to let them go because of a big game and you can even get calls from other nations wanting u beacuse of your succsess
But mabe its just a dream:confused:

I never doubted it... each year they roll out the same pile of dung with a different cover on it.
The next version of the game should be…
"Fifa "Foozball" 2005" Since it acutally looks more like foozeball then footy.

You mean you will be negative once again later...comeon everyone, stop being negative, there is definitely going to be a FIFA 2005 & I believe it will have indoor soccer included in it for the first time since FIFA 98...Does Pro Evolution Soccer, Winning Eleven, World Tour Soccer, have indoor soccer in it, NO, none of them do, but FIFA 2005 will be above the rest, I have a strong feeling it'll have an indoor soccer mode...that is something I can't wait to see...Good luck.

Thats all well and good, but sheittyg gameplay outdooors, means sheitty gameplay indoors doesn't matter..
EA Suck at making soccer games plain and simple... they are so far behind, its amazing anyone can fight it.
As a soccer sim, indoors or out.. EA comes no where close to simulating the game.

That doesn't answer my quotation, will any others have indoor soccer game play?
Gascoigne USA 30-01-2004, 11:00:PM No, and the reason why is the demand for indoor soccer just isnt there. And for someone to do it right, they will have to make a game that features only indoor.. Now I'm not saying it wouldnt be cool if Konami did makea indoor game.. cause it would be a fun game, specially since teh gameplay would be 100% real.. unlike EA's crap. But fact remains, ourside the US.. Indoor soccer isnt in high demand.

Understood, I know, outside the US, nobody cares for indoor soccer except maybe places like USA, Canada, Mexico, possibly Australia...3 out of those 4 have different forms of indoor soccer, not including futsal, futsal is basically outdoor soccer played indoors on a smaller field. Well, maybe one of these companies should create a game for North American style soccer, since indoor soccer is primarily within those three countri of USA, Canada & Mexico...
nickclubman 30-01-2004, 11:33:PM It would be a GREAT idea!!! I'd rather play a game of FIFA I can enjoy with all the features promised and lesser bugs, then a half finished game, which doesn't give a good excitment rating at all. :(
Gascoigne USA 30-01-2004, 11:37:PM Or you could play a finished well rounded, realistic game like WE7 :) and piss on Fifa, because it worth that much and nothing more.

Johny24 31-01-2004, 12:37:AM hahaha im laughing at all you People are fighting like cats and dogs. man like i said before im a fifa and pes fan i like both. i like fifa because of its licenses and officiality. but to tell you honestly i like pes3 because the style of play and the different tactics. i love the pes series because instead of taking out stuff they implement more things into the game and thats what i like about this years pes3. what i dont like is the fifa editors who take stuff out and implement new things and dont know what they are doing. IF EA CANADA is smart they would take more time and look at the pes 3 series which in my opinion real soccer and try to make the game really good and not take stuff out of the previous version of fifa. Its gonna hurt Fifa because of the 2 year realese. anyways fight people fight lol:crazyboy:
Gascoigne USA 31-01-2004, 12:42:AM I'm not fighting :) I know FIFA sucks.. and my WE7/PES3 are fully patched with 100% kits. all real teams and real player names.... TristanAbbott7 31-01-2004, 01:46:AM Indoor soccer? Who gives a crap about freaking indoor soccer? It's a nice touch if you get everything else correct but EA are no where near that point. When you have fans still holding up FIFA 98 as the most playable of the series in terms of gameplay there's something wrong but a lot of people can't see it. 6 years later and the game isn't better! Every FIFA since 98 has been a porblem one way or the other to ruin it. World Cup 2002 was the best title in terms of playability (once you patched the bullet headers) and if 2003 had been purely based on that game engine it would have worked for me but 2003 you couldn't header the freaking ball to clear it or play knock-on headers unless another player was up your ass. 2004 allows everybody to score 45 yard screamers in every game. Hardly realistic! And for those who say you can't you're full of it. I've played the PS2 and the PC version and managed it on each of the difficulty levels.
Danny Isaac is a prick. He's a coporate man, not a sportsman. I very much doubt he's ever played the game in his life. He just has his picture taken with a ball and answers questions of his own choosing with more disinformation than anything else. Better than PES? The problem is when you make big claims you need to know you've got some substance to back it up but it's living proof that Danny Isaac wouldn't know hwat made a game good i nthe first place. How would he know if FIFA is better than PES or vice versa? He doesn't know what the freak to look for.
EA know American football, they know ice hockey, they know baseball, they know golf, they know basketball and they sure know cars (Need for Speed series) but they have no freaking clue about soccer.
FIFA 2005 will be more of the same. I can't believe how every year people say, this year things will be different and then within 24 hours of the game there's people on here saying the game doesn't have this, do this or is crap because....... When will people wake up and realize EA are like this because you willingly give your money to the FIFA series every year rather than voting for change by not buying the freaking title. Given the amount of time I play soccer games I would happily pay $200 for a game if it was fantastic and per hour of play it would still work out great value. But FIFA 2004, I wouldn't pay for the price of a couple of blank CD's to burn it on.
Pity that the biggest FIFA fans are ones that always have great convincing arguments like "FIFA Rulez". A sure sign that they aren't out of grade school yet and like being able to play scoring goals that are superhuman because it makes them feel like they do when they play Halo or some other fantasy game.
EA, I love you except for the FIFA series. Danny Isaac - you are a class 'A' prick!
Gascoigne USA 31-01-2004, 01:53:AM can I get a Amen?
your 100% right across the board. And with PES on the PC, the only people ont he fifa wagon are people with stickly a xbox, or people that have no idea how soccer, looks, feels or plays. Plain and simple... And even someone growing up in a soccer country can be deluted with EA's lies, and or money.... ie the owner of this website.
Slowly but surely.. FIFA will die... we have more ex fifa players in the ISS/PES/WE forum then ever... And that dropped the average age in the FIFA forum down to 12 or something.
TristanAbbott7 31-01-2004, 02:00:AM I know, you can guarantee 95% of the die hard FIFA fans in here end at least a few words in their post with 'z'. A sure sign they are under 12. Nobody in their teens or older uses a freaking 'z' to end words other than gangster rappers.
Signs to watch for:
- FIFA Rulez :rockman:
- FIFA Rockz :hump:
