View Full Version : Which teams would you like to manage?

Wouldn't it be great to be the manager of a proffesional team? A team like Lazio, Real Madrid, Chelsea, or Bayer Leverkusen would probably be the most fun! You'd get to work with all the stars and make all of the choices. Even managing a lower profile club like West Ham Utd or Bologna would be fun! Even in these teams you get to work with greats like Pagliuca, Ze Elias, Ferdinand, and Sinclair!

If I had to manage a club a league, I would do it this way.

England: Chelsea (Weah, Flo, Poyet, Desailly)
France: PSG (Okocha, Christian)
Italy: Lazio (Salas, Veron, Inzhagi,
Mihajlovic)
Spain: Real Madrid (Hierro, Raul, Roberto Carlos)

Free copy? do you live in underprivilaged country? if not I think you should scrape your pennies together and buy a copy, all legal-like. By the way I heard this CM game is damn good so it might be worth your money.

Oh yeah I would like to manage the MetroStars...

Polish - u don't have it? If you've ever thought about managing football u should get it! I understand its not everyone's cup of tea - some people don't like the fact it's text based - but, and I don't want to start arguing why, compared to every other smg, CM99/00 text driven engine is vastly superior - not to mention u have tons of in-match stats to look @ (eg passes completed, per player, runs per player, etc) while following the text. I literally could talk about how amazing and in depth this game is for hours - but why don't u guys try it:
www.cm3.com - dl a demo of CM99/00 - it lets you play 1/2 a season, but only in the English league - so no other leagues are activated - but it will give u an idea about what the game is like. If u like it I encourage you to import it - IMO it will be worth every penny.

Yes, please don't pirate this game - Sports Interactive work so hard, and their love of football really shows in their games - and even at their site their programmers answer questions on the message boards - unlike EA and Fifa these guys really care. (Not that pirating EA games or any game's is right, BUT, its especially wrong to do so to SI)
I agree with Hagi - I can't wait till they add, the Turkish, Greek, and also Australian leagues (although I spend most of my time in the English and Scottish lower divisions)

I'VE BOUGHT EVERY SINGLE CHAMPIONSHIP MANAGER GAME FOR THE LAST 4 YEARS AND FFRANKLY I'M BORED WITH IT!!! AND SO R A LOT OF MY MATES!

It's a great game for people who first buy the game, they'll be hooked like me, then realise it's getting down a bit.

The only reason Im reluctant to get it is the lack of graphic interface for matches, and the fact Im not terribly interested in the money side of the sport like stadium improvements and such, I wish this game let you just concenttrate on football and let a computer general manager do the money stuff.
Also don't you think it would be a fun feature if for example you did well for some 2nd division, the computer would notice and you would get offers to coach 1st division teams, etc. even in other countries? Or maybe you could choose a profile like"world famous football star and WC hero" so you'd get offers to coach national team with absolutely no previous experience! I think that would add a lot of realism, also you should got fired if you work for Atletico Madrid after a month of bad results. Stuff like that would make it hellishly realistic.

LOL
POLISH - what u described happens in the game all the time! I always start my career in the lower divisions and try to work my way up, in CM3 I started at Partick Thistle and brought them to the scottish first division, I then got offered a job (YES OFFERED!) to manage Sheffield Wednesday who had been relegated to the first division in England, I took that job, brought them up and had 6 wondeful seasons and where I won the league once (in my fifth year) and managed to get to the Champions league semi-final where I lost to a Gianluca Vialli managed Parma side. I then applied for the head post at Real Madrid and then went on a 4 year reign of terror - bringing back the Real glory days of Puskas and DeStafano, but this time with different names; Owen and Cambiasso. And what u won't believe, is that this just doesn't happen to u, it's constantly happening to the computer managers - both u and they have manager points and reputation ratings depending upon performances, and a dynamic 'world' of hiring, firing, and competition for jobs occurs.
THIS GAME IS INCREDIBLE!
And in CM99/00 its even better - players are more troublesome, in my game Nicholas Anleka went AWOL when Real refused to sell him, in 2005 Zinedine Zidane is player manager at Caen, Javier Saviola is probably the best player in the world, and I'm managing Celtic after taking Rushden and Diamonds all the way from the English Conference to the Premier League in 5 straight seasons (2 years via the play offs)
AND U CAN MANAGE IN THE MLS....
As for the financial aspect - you're getting confused with FA Manager - in CM99/00 u have no control over stuff like season ticket prices - only buying players, hiring coaches, scouts, physios, fining players, signing new contracts, setting wages - all the stuff a manager would do.
What I've explained here doesn't even scratch the surface of depth here in this masterpiece.
As for the lack of graphic interface, well, just try it - if you grew up listening to football on the radio, or really appreicating commentary you'll love it - and like I said, the commentary (written) as well as the in-game (during a match) stats and ratings paint a more accurate picture of a football match than any existing football graphics engine could.

Oh yes, as for firing - the CHAIRMAN's (owners) of each club have statistics too - most important of which is patience
eg (out of max 20)
Liverpool's David Moores is a 20
but
Real's Lorenzo Sanz is 8
So if you screw around at Real and get some bad results you'll be getting the boot - not to mention if u upset players (ie fining them, not playing them often enough when u promised u would) you can have a player revolt on your hands and can get fired that way too. And don't get me started on the press rumours that can circulate and upset your players.

Well, I quite recently bought CM 99/00 I think it's great fun.
But I wonder, if play with a smaller club and take it higher up the divisions, will u bee offered a jobb in a bigger club?
But it must be impossible to start with a smaller club and after a couple of years u end up in Inter or something like that..
Or is it?

I would like to now how hard it is to start in a small club and end up in a big club.

It's hard, but not impossible, if u get the results and your reputation becomes high enough then you'll be offered jobs at bigger clubs - but don't forget you can also apply for empty positions too.

THE THING I LOVE DOING ON CM99/00 IS STICKING ON ALL 16 LEAGUES ON SIMULTAENOUSLY AND MOVING JOBS FROM ONE TEAM TO ANOTHER IN DIFFERENT COUNTRIES!

I STARTED AS ARSENAL, MOVED TO STUTTGART KICKERS, THEN ONTO PERUGIA TO RCD MALLORCA, GOT SACKED! MOVED TO QPR THEN TO HELSINGBORGS AND THEN TO SCHALKE! AND ALL THAT IN ONE SEASON!

THEN I DON'T PLAY THE GAME ANYMORE!!

HagiRulez,

Why would you want to manage the Urawa Reds? Sure they have great players like U-23 captain Shinji Ono but can't work well as a team. Last season they were relegated from the J-League to J-2.

The game sounds great, I think I'll get it!

Vasco

It takes too long if run all the leagues, is it just me or if you run leagues on backround you get weird results like Everton in first and Wimbledon (spelled wrong)in second.

Neutral
26-03-2000, 05:48:PM
I don't get that problem, over the course of 10-15 years some teams rise, and some fall, but generally the trend is the same as in real life.
As for the speed - depends on your computer, I have P3 450, 128 mb ram, and I can run 10 leagues (8 active, 2 in the background) no problem

Vasco
26-03-2000, 10:10:PM
That is becuase you run it on the foreground try run it on the background you will get wierd results.

Yeah I think I'm gonna go out and buy it this week, CM99/00 is the one to buy right? not cm3.

Also another question, can you manage two teams simultaneously? For example I would like to manage a team in English league, but also at the same time another in Seria A. I guess Im asking, can you control more than one team in the game world?

Also you know what would be fun, if they did a game that went back to lets say 1950, and would take you up to present, with all the past great players to buy for your team and great managers to compete with(Shankly, move over...)

Neutral
27-03-2000, 01:08:PM
Yes you can control more than one team - but if you're going to import I suggest you try the demo first - just because I know some people can't get over the lack of a graphical match representation (and I pity them because they don't know what they're missing). CM99/00 is the newest and best version (it has the most leagues and features)

Vasco, I agree, fa premier league manager2k SUCKS ASS.

I am getting fa premier footballleague manager 2001 for free, btw. I did some research for ea, and they promised my name in the credits and a free copy!

I know where you can download fa premier footballleague manager 2000, FIFA world manager 200 and CM 99/00 warez (if links aren't dead).

I do not like CM 99/00 because it's very slow (takes an hour to simulate one month)

Neutral, you are doing such a great publicity of CM99/00!!! You should ask for a 5% of the sales! It makes me want to buy it! I'll check this out this week-end. Do you reckon I should wait for the next edition or is cm99/00 fairly new?

Neutral
29-03-2000, 02:28:PM
http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif I do such publicity because I love the game, and very few people in North America have played it. CM99/00 is the newest version, and there are always data updates off the net to update the players and transfers.
